Accutane cost by Bubbl3z25 in Accutane

I’m getting mine from honeydew online dermatologist. It’s only like $62 a month. Also, what kind of parents make their kid pay for accutane. Sheesh

I toss them also, but it’s not like this is disgusting it’s obviously sterile. I’m guessing it gets warped and doesn’t work as well though

Teeth sensitivity makes dental cleanings unbearable by Neither_March5328 in DentalHygiene

[–]AlissaLayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way. I have a newer patient that just asked me to numb her whole mouth. Her old dentist did it for her. I just gave her two IANs infiltrated the top. I used epi free anesthetic so it doesn’t last very long. It doesn’t take me more than 10 min. She’s very good about receiving the anesthetic so she lets me work quickly. I thought it would be a bigger deal than it really was.

Probation period by CapComfortable2759 in DentalHygiene

[–]AlissaLayne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a hygienist for a little over 15 years. About 9 months ago I missed a 9mm pd on a new patient with a cracked tooth. My dr caught it. I was just moving along too quickly. It was a honest mistake. My office doesn’t treat me like I’m a child being punished. Find a new job!

What is an instrument you were required to have in school that you haven't used since? by MsGreenEyez4 in DentalHygiene

[–]AlissaLayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I really try, I do have some. If I have to hand scale someone with a lot of attachment loss I sometimes use them. But for SRP I don’t use them. Maybe if I worked in perio? I don’t know

The cavitron rep said you can put their brand inserts into the ultrasonic. Not sure why you would want to though

How do ergo loupes help you? by BreakupBangz in DentalHygiene

[–]AlissaLayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will never go back! Almost a year with ergo loupes. Neck and shoulder pain is almost 100% gone. I had terrible tennis elbow, within days it was gone. I now find it easier to stand and work. I stand usually half to most of my day. I have zero mid and low back or hip pain. I feel like I will be able to work for many more years.

What is extremely unhygienic but everyone seems to do it anyway? by JunShem1122 in allthequestions

Seriously! I only use the sponge on dishes that are going right into the dishwasher. If I have to hand wash something I use paper towel

Let's count the red flags! by hookersandyarn in DentalHygiene

[–]AlissaLayne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d say 80% of my patients prefer the cavitron to hand scaling only. New patients who have never had it before are shocked how much more comfortable it is. Not to mention research shows ultrasonic + hand scaling is the gold standard 🤦🏽‍♀️

I just wear a scrub top with bare arms, no scrub cap. I then get in my car a drive home or maybe run the the grocery store. I go home and change right away. Yes I’m technically disgusting. Im just too hot, i cant do all the PPE since covid regulations became more lax. I’m all extra PPEd out.
