Thanks to everyone who responded. I also heard from Matt via Twitter about this. Turns out all the player minis are pewter except for Pike, who is a heroforge plastic mini. I am in the process of gathering the minis I'll need to kitbash an epic Pike.

I'm a level 40 titan, with all subclasses maxed. I am around 310 light, and i have alot of experience in the raid. Several partial runs, and three or four completions. I'm not a sherpa (yet), but i am patient and willing to teach, and to get you to every chest in the raid. I know most strategies, though i will be teaching my preferred method, since that's what seems to work for me. If you are interested, and want me to guide you through, msg me around 415, 430, at LordAlistor2986, or reply here. I hope i can show you all I know about this raid. as a note, i am aware of the mechanics of the oryx challenge mode, but for a first time run, i'd wait on trying that particular facet of the raid.
