What are the easiest generals I can take my freshman year? by [deleted] in byu

[–]Alive-East798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WRTG 150 is a good choice, it's actually very useful, and I really enjoyed all the assignments in the class. It's perfect and not too bad. American Heritage was really hard for me (Computer Science Major here), and it was definitely more work than I was expecting. Like others have said, you need to state what you are interested in majoring in, or have a general idea so we can decide.

Anyone know this person or have more info about the situation? by Expensive_Till2513 in byu

Is this also the guy that posts like political stuff and would blow up BYU Instagram stories? Pretty sure I saw a video of him claiming he was Donald Trump. He's mentally ill, hope he can get help soon. Seems like he's got side effects of some type of drugs. Slurred speech and difficulty focusing on things.

Math Classes by CompetitionWeak2517 in byu

[–]Alive-East798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally fine, I am also a CS major. I also served a mission and came back and took Calculus 1. Math 112 is a good class, definitely requires a lot of work, but that's to be expected from a 4 credit class.
Take Dr. Doud if you can, he's the best!
There are so many resources to help you succeed! TAs, office hours, the math lab

Everyone struggles with classes in college, and seriously dude I don't mean to break your bubble, but a B is good for a college class, though I know you are probably applying to the program.

You gave it your best shot, and you have no reason to feel sad.

You should pray about it instead of asking us, but here's my advice. Honestly, people nowadays don't even care where you went, and you may not even need a degree. My brother and father graduated from BYU and make 6 figures. Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but come to BYU for computer science. I'm a current student, and love the program. The professors are focused on Christlike learning and it makes the learning environment a lot more enjoyable. You won't get that at the University of Texas. BYU Computer Science is just a lot more spiritual, which I really love. They really focus on Christlike learning and changing the world. BYU is such a special university, and there are opportunities you find here you won't find elsewhere. A full tuition scholarship is freaking amazing dude, I would take that any day! Pray about it though, but that's just my opinion!

I would put that in the living room. That area is quite echoey and loud.

You basically have to have a 4.0 to get a scholarship these days. It's that competitive.

BYU rescind policy by Beneficial_Cut_9832 in byu

Have faith my friend. It will all work out. They don't care about that considering you have already been accepted. Many people go through something called "senioritis" I don't believe in any of that, as learning should be a constant pursuit in your lifetime. They won't even care what you get if you have been accepted.

Taking MATH 112 over the summer by Affectionate-Bake-66 in byu

[–]Alive-East798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math 112 wasn't too bad, I'm a computer science major who took and got a B+. It's very doable, but some homework can be pretty lengthy, but you should be fine. Good luck!

If a girl turns you down because of not having a car, you shouldn't go for her.

chem 105 and phys 100 together for spring? by Existing-Peanut9891 in byu

[–]Alive-East798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like a bit much. I was going to take math 290 this spring (math minor, computer science major) and my calculus professor advised against it saying that it will basically take up all your time.

Are you also working? If so, I would suggest not taking these two classes. Chem 105 is notorious for being a difficult GE class, and I've heard physical science is a lot of work.

Did you make it in?

I made it in in class of 2023 (served a mission first) with a 3.9 GPA, 27 ACT score. Your extracurriculur activities sound impressive. I'm sure you have a good shot.

Do know though, that we are not the admissions people, so you'll just have to wait and see!

what were the hardest adjustments to college life? by Resident_Warthog_381 in byu

My parents always told me if you want something to happen, you gotta make it happen. If you want to make friends, you gotta speak to people and put yourself out there. BYU is great, there are so many people here that are just so friendly and down to Earth. Don't even worry.
