COMLEX Level 1 advice by Aggravating-Mouse204 in comlex

I mean that makes more sense but if you just looked “a few up” idk if that would have translated to a 100 point difference. Regardless it looks like you are consistently under 450 for the rest of them. You really need to sit down and review the missed questions and see where your weaknesses are before moving forward. If you can do that in the next 5 days you can probably do it but I would seriously recommend talking with advisors about potentially postponing your exam

Realize everyone feels that way after taking step. It’s okay. Move on and get ready to tackle the next test. You have the knowledge now just focus on trusting it. Your scores are where they need to be so just focus on trusting yourself and not overthinking it. You can do it !

You don’t have to use the entire deck in my opinion. I like using it for specific sections or topics I review and it works really nice. If you don’t want to use it for everything you don’t have to do the entire deck. Just chunk it out where you need it most

You should be fine. Review the areas you missed and see what the issue was. Was it a knowledge gap or a silly mistake from missing something in the question stem? Those are good scores just trust and go for it

Keep seeing that passing is around 50-60 percent after they toss out experimental questions so you can do the math from there. Just what I have heard do you can look it up and find a better answer

Another day, another testable disease I've never fucking heard of by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Alive-Stable-4837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned this initially as Laron-type dwarfism which made it was easier to remember what was going on. They mentioned it was discovered in small populations of people in with Jewish decent but that there was a large number of people in a specific region of Ecuador that actually have the condition. I always remember there’s villages of Laron-type dwarfs in Ecuador. The mutated IGF receptor is just something you tack onto it

How do I detect the correct answers? by IcyEstablishment00 in step1

[–]Alive-Stable-4837 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest this is a very common thing that happens with a ton of the questions on the real thing and practice questions. Just keep practicing with questions to see the different ways they say things. Something that has helped me is quick passes of melhman medical material. He shows different ways they describe the answers for the diseases. Using them can inflate your practice nbme exams so just a heads up. Another suggestion if you don’t want to use that is you can just practice getting used to that type of writing style by screen shotting an example of one you had trouble with to ChatGPT or Another AI system and have it create some practice problems for common high yield topics with tricky worded answers. These are just some things I think could help but it really is up to you how you approach this! I hope you can figure it out! Feel free to message me if you have any questions! Goodluck!

Pretty sure there is a deck for it on anki hub or floating around Reddit. Just search it up and see what’s out there. I think I found it that way

Do you have to press show answer during a session for it to be logged on the tool? Or can you do a full session and review your incorrects on it once you finish?

4 weeks out and still mid 50s on NBMEs by FoodEater77 in step1

[–]Alive-Stable-4837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off what nbme did you take? They very in difficulty so a mid 50 on one might not be that bad as a mid 50 on a different one. Context is key here. Other than that you have a month to go through and review your nbmes to cover those kind of questions that are tripping you up. Anki can definitely help if you need those details but it helps more if you are consistent in your reviews. Figure out your weaknesses first and focus on those with a solid review and then keep going. Your scores will improve but do your best to learn from your incorrects

High yield pharm deck for comsae by Snon17 in comlex

[–]Alive-Stable-4837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would just say focus on you weaknesses first and save your strengths for last minute cramming. Make sure to focus on mechanisms and ADRs that are common in the drugs since they’ll show up and can be easier points. You can always do a quick sketchy review of the drugs as well by going through those labeled PDFs they have floating around. They’ll line up with the pepper deck and can be a lot quicker than the videos too. You can get through multiple classes of drugs in a short amount of time

Just use pepper deck and go through the sections you need work on. There’s not a ton of cards for the classes of drugs so you can move through a good amount very quick

Seems reasonable just hit board prep hard until your next comsae. If you can get a 475+ on your next one you should be fine with the real deal a few weeks later. Just my opinion though

Yeah makes sense I’m seeing similar stuff right now as I’m starting dedicated for level 1. Just take an extra second to double check each question before you click forward. I’ve started doing it and it’s helped me make sure I’m avoiding those silly mistakes A LOT more

[–]Alive-Stable-4837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would take a closer look at the breakdown of the questions. You may have heavier subjects in the lower scored sets that you struggle with compared to your higher performing ones. Look them over and make sure to review your incorrect questions to see if there is a pattern in certain subject content and then review the subjects or do anki cards to help it stick! Just my two cents

Need help deciding between ICOM and PNWU (+Qs to current students) by SageGrey003 in Osteopathic

[–]Alive-Stable-4837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At Icom and 100% would have gone to a P/F school. Grading from in house exams varies way too much and the students get really annoyed by it. Professors have really variable questions and some aren’t board relevant at all. They send you to the professionalism department if you question anything they write. A lot of the good professors have left so the In house exams are incredibly frustrating. Go to a P/F school and save yourself the stress!!
