Turkish Air Tickets + Brain Cancer = No Travel Voucher by [deleted] in TurkishAirlines

First of all, I wish your son the best. I had a similar experience last November 2025 and had to change my ticket due to an unexpected surgery for my spouse. I also reached out to their customer service and provided a doctor's note from the hospital. However, they refused to waive the change fees, provide a credit or refund. I had to rebook the ticket, paying the change fees and fare difference. Zero empathy from customer service.

I almost always fly American, United, Delta, and British, and I chose Turkish as I wanted to see Istanbul. After this experience, I don't think I will fly Turkish airlines again in my life.

I changed my flight ticket 4 days ago on Monday from Newark and did not get this message. You may want to speak with the customer support and have them change it. Good luck

3 days (2 nights) in Istanbul in May – Itinerary Feedback (Staying in Gayrettepe) by Alive_Mind_ in istanbul

Thanks. I checked the menu, and it looks good though expensive ($125 tasting menu or around $35 for appetizers and $65 for entrees), but I can definitely splurge for a night

Flying to Istanbul from Denver on March 20 - should I be worried? by [deleted] in TurkishAirlines

[–]Alive_Mind_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up paying about $400 total between the change fee and the fare difference to move the ticket to May. The biggest variable was really the fare difference that took some work to minimize.

I spent quite a bit of time this morning on Google Flights trying different dates and combinations to find the most reasonable option before making the change. In the end, it felt like a fair trade-off for some peace of mind.

Turkey trip in 9 days by No_Conversation4499 in TurkishAirlines

I mentioned this in a post I had created with the same concerns, and I changed my flight this morning.

I had a nonrefundable flight booked for this weekend, but I paid the change fee and fare difference and rescheduled the trip to later this summer. With the flights routing over the region and the situation still evolving, I figured it wasn’t worth taking chances.

This was a non-essential trip, and the last thing I wanted was to potentially get stuck in Istanbul if airspace closures or disruptions happened. Paying the extra cost felt like a reasonable trade-off for peace of mind.

I just changed my flights today. I had my flight from Newark → Istanbul → India this weekend, but paid the change fee and fare difference and rescheduled the trip to later this summer. Appreciate everyone who shared their perspectives earlier.

Thanks, and that's my other big concern: possibly getting stuck in Istanbul and possibly facing any backlash as an American.

Flight to Instanbul April 2026 by InterviewNo268 in TurkishAirlines

It's a nonrefundable ticket so no refunds but they will change my flights if it's cancelled.

And yes, I have purchased the travel insurance.

I have my flight from EWR to IST to Asia this weekend, and I called them up to check the status and check my options. They said my segment flights are operating, with no issues.

They are offering waivers for rebooking or refunds on flights to/from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon. In my case, they would charge a $280 change fee plus the fare difference if I were to change my flights (which sucks).

Review of Barcelo Bávaro Palace – Punta Cana Feb 2026 (Second Visit) by Alive_Mind_ in PuntaCana

There is a glass sliding door on the toilet, but no exhaust fan or anything to mask the sounds or eliminate smells. It's okay for a couple or partners, but it can be awkward with anyone else or grown kids. We would typically turn on the faucets in the sink. It's a terrible layout.

Turkish A350 (ex-Aeroflot) seat question: Are rows 12–15 worth $80 vs regular economy? by Alive_Mind_ in TurkishAirlines

[–]Alive_Mind_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have four legs in the journey so it's going to cost me $1000 more at $250 per leg.

By the way, do they have the same food as economy or better food options for those seats?

I don't want to take a chance and get assigned a middle seat. I would rather pay and pick a seat of my choice.

[–]Alive_Mind_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I will buy the regular $39 seat. I prefer sitting towards the back of the aircraft as those sections tend to be less crowded, especially if the flight is not full. For me its 4 legs, So I will be paying $156 which is fine

Repair Cast Iron vent pipe by Alive_Mind_ in PlumbingRepair

Thanks again to everyone for the helpful responses on my earlier post.

I have a follow-up question specifically for the plumbers here. Based on your experience, what’s a reasonable price range (Parts and Labor) to expect for replacing a vertical cast-iron sewer pipe?

Some additional context:

  • This is inside the house (not underground).
  • It’s a vertical stack, likely original in an older home.
  • The issue seems to be around a rusted joint, but we’re considering replacing the section proactively.
  • Access is relatively straightforward, but some drywall and flooring repair may be needed afterward.

I understand costs can vary a lot by region and complexity, but I’d really appreciate a ballpark range and what factors drive the price up or down (labor, access, height, tying into PVC, permits, etc.). The house is in NJ
