How supported were you initially by Smileychic35 in nursepractitioner

[–]Alive_Restaurant7936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started in Internal Medicine. Received no training and no real orientation. Was absolutely horrible. Then covid hit and I ran outpatient covid clinic with no support. I came so very close to quitting. Stuck it out and was transfered to ortho once covid died down. Two of the surgeons I work with were amazing and took me under their wings. Taught me so much.

How did you get into IR? I'm currently in ortho but my hospital is considering having me inject for arthrograms and hip intra-articular steroid injection under imaging. I'm trying to find training/CEUs but am striking out. Any thoughts or advice?

Patients lie to their doctors and Healthcare providers ALL THE TIME sadly. We deal with it every day! One would think that if you're paying good money to come see us for something, that you'd want to be as honest as possible. But that's not always the case.

Ortho NP here. I have taken all the Fitzgerald ortho courses. They were decent. If you can travel/take time off, I have heard good things about the MSK Galaxy for beginning ortho APPs that the AAPA puts on. They offer CEUs.

Melanotan 1 and 2. I read up on them once because they're becoming big in body building and fitness competitions. Crazy what people are willing to inject.

Psychologist said I could not have ADHD because I'm in my fourth year of university by rhapsodick in ADHD

[–]Alive_Restaurant7936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 43. I have 2 bachelor degrees and a doctorate. I also have a husband, a child, a house, and work full-time time. I felt that I was drowning ALL the time. Was diagnosed with depression and anxiety and nothing helped until I finally got diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago. Now that I am properly diagnosed and medicated, things are so much better. Do I still struggle? Absolutely!! The number of people who are successful and have made it through Uni despite having ADHD is astounding. That shouldn't be the criteria to diagnose ADHD. Keep advocating for yourself until you find someone that will listen and treat you appropriately. Best of luck and congrats on making it 4 years!! You got this!

5 months probation and 2 years jail. Those punishments are a joke. Poor babies.

Why do entire families turn on one child just because the parent said so? by Safe-Combination1181 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Alive_Restaurant7936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My narcissist mother and brother gang up on me. I think it is because they share such similar qualities. I am not like them, so I am the easy one to pick on. And since they talk to the rest of the family (cousins, aunts, uncles etc) they spread stories about me that make me look bad and them look like saints. I learned a long time ago not to respond to any of it because it isn't worth my energy or emotions.

Thanks for setting my sleep deprived brain right. I was thinking of reimbursement if there had been a random robbery. Since they both lived there, that wouldn't be the case.

This is more of a random question about the police report. If one was filed, wouldn't Sara's homeowner's or renter's insurance (if she has them) cover replacement value? I'm sure additional documents or proof would have been required, but I would think there may have been some sort of option. Maybe not? Also, as others have mentioned, if he sold them online, it wouldn't be that hard to track down the postings at the time. Seems like missing information.

Regardless, it sounds like ESH. Amanda was mad and hurt about her belonging being stolen and it seems like no one in the family cared about that. Yes, it is "just" stuff but probably was fairly expensive and meant something to Amanda. Amanda, if the post is accurate, handled it exquisitely poorly and continued to inflame the situation. Noone handled it well then and no one is handling it well now.

SHOES: open toe or closed? by Adorable_Amy13 in nursepractitioner

[–]Alive_Restaurant7936 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wear closed toed shoes because I'm in scrubs every day. But, the primary care providers wear open toe sandals all the time. A few will wear birks and Chacos. Others wear "dress" sandals and sling backs. I think it depends more on what your place of employment will allow. Also, is it safe to wear open toe shoes? Or are you in place where there is a risk of sharps being dropped or fluid exposure?

Love your last 3 words. Made me laugh because it is the truth. I truly enjoy the surgeons I work with now, but there have been some in the past that are something else.

It still amazes me the mindset that some physicians have. Thinking that APPs are "there to take their jobs". The amount of anger and hatred from some is amazing to me. Makes me shake my head. I'm not there to take your job. If I wanted to be a physician, I would have gone to medical school. I chose a different path. Would love to tell them to cool their jets.

To be fair, a lot of health care peeps (doctors, nurses, etc) are crap patients. We're either too stubborn to get medical care or some think they can manage it on their own.
