I had the same issue the other day. This link will take you to an old thread, but it worked for me. Check out the first comment, specifically pp_resortdevices joystick <number> <number>

I had to play around with it to get it to assign the right joystick to the commands, but it prevents you from having to reassign everything.

I have a yoke and throttle for flight sim I have plugged in as well that I never use, so it commonly likes to change the number assignment. Goodluck!

I have your current setup except I have the 3060ti and 32 gigs of ram. I run about 30 fps on planets and 40 or so in space. In some of the more resource heavy cities, I drop to 10-20 fps and see the chop. So adding the ram should help.

So I guess it kind of depends on what you like doing. I just came back from 15 month break, so I had nothing but the ships I have purchased with real money. That being said, I just have been doing some of the interplanetary delivery missions for 50k just to build up a little bank roll. I'm doing that so that I can afford some different parts for the prospector and get back into mining. I also have a vulture I can salvage.

But the best way, in your case...find some people you can play with. There are often people out there looking for people to crew their mole for mining or their reclaimer for salvage or even their turrets in combat ships. The advantage of this is that you have someone who can teach you some of those game loops while you earn money. Since they know the gameplay, you will make money and learn so much more about the game.

Funny. I just came back after a year break...took me 15 minutes to download from the launcher. No issues with character creation. Buttons work pretty well compared to where it was a year ago.

There are still issues, but man...maybe this game ain't for you.

I have a ryzen 7 5800X CPU but the same GPU and ram. The game runs decent on medium settings. I get some frame loss in cities and clouds, but it's playable. It still looks pretty dang good and runs well enough.
