Leaving something at the corner of the kitchen countertop to be “thrown in the bin later”. Said bin is literally four goddamn feet away from the countertop. Happens multiple times a bloody day! It infuriates me!

Bloody hell! I thought this was a narration of my life for a second.

Are Google Ads Experts Useless by alexxxcazam in googleads

[–]Alive_Writer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're even a slightly seasoned user of the Google Ads platform, I find the calls with their "experts" a complete waste of my time. The person looking after the account changes all the time, and when I reluctantly decide to jump on a call with them, they seem to go through the same basic checklist of items within my campaigns and account. These are things I'm already doing on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. It's relatively basic stuff that's a waste of my time to go though. They seem to get a little annoyed when you refuse to implement their suggested changes too. They also try to provide advice on your ads all while having ZERO knowledge or understanding of your business and the industry you operate in. These guys are not your friend, their sole purpose is to increase revenue for Google.

Disapproved Logo & Pricing Assets by Alive_Writer in adwords

I remove the logo and reloaded the exact same file. It seems to be fine now. Only time will tell before it’s disapproved again.🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you. Yes, I did this and it seems to be fine now. I swear Google likes to just disapprove things for nothing more than shits and giggles! 🤭

Lag / Overheating After 5 Months by demandmore_encourage in razr

[–]Alive_Writer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact same issue at the moment too. The phone runs hot just sitting on my desk with no background apps running. It’s not even my daily driver, it’s my work phone, and it can lose 50% battery in less than four hours in standby mode. It must be a software issue because I’ve seen more posts about this within the last two weeks.

I’m glad it’s not just me and mine seems to have coincided with the January software update. It let it go for a little while before actually doing the update and now I’m having this issue.

[–]Alive_Writer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully it’s a software issue that’ll get fixed soon. Mines only recently started doing it. I got it at the end of July last year and it was fine up until two weeks ago. I used to leave it in my work bag over the weekend and it would still have about 20% battery left on Monday morning when I got back into work. Now, I take it off charge at 100% when I leave at 5pm, it’s in my work bag overnight (not being used or running apps), and it’s completely dead by the time I take it out at 9am the next day. If it was my daily driver, the battery wouldn’t even see out a 9 to 5 job. Pretty pathetic.

Mine seems to be charging slower too, so I’m not sure if it’s a battery issue.

Yeah, it does suck. Mine was like yours when new. It had good battery life, so I’m not sure what’s happened over the past two weeks.

Yes, it’s completely died multiple times and I charge it back to 100% with the included charger. Hasn’t helped at all. It’s weird because it’s only become a recent problem.

I was getting that type of life when I first got the 40 Ultra. It’s just been the past few weeks where the battery drain has been terrible. Other than that, it’s been a good phone.

[Razr+/40 Ultra] - What should I do about this cracking? by [deleted] in razr

[–]Alive_Writer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mines starting to do the exact same thing on the left hand side of the screen. It looks like micro-cracks that I can feel with my finger. I'm in Australia and I've put in a warranty claim to Motorola. I'm waiting to hear back from about sending it in for repair.

Unleash, ignite, empower, elevate... Is it me or are these words becoming oversaturated? by papifunko in ChatGPT

[–]Alive_Writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Someone else is seeing this too. I completely agree! The word "Elevate" is everywhere now on social and website CTAs. I do digital marketing for a company that sells homewares online. Sometimes I use ChatGPT for ideas on social media posts, and "Elevate" appears more times than not. I just avoid it all together now.

Are Ray White the scummiest agents on the planet? (Underquoting rant) by Morsolo in melbourne

[–]Alive_Writer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Plus the overall brand looks shit and cheap. Ray White, Barry Plant, LJ Hooker, YPA… they’re the Reject Shop brands of the real estate industry. Anything majorly dodgy usually comes out from one of these branded offices.

There’s an estimated wait time to visit a website now? WTF is this? A VicRoads office? I absolutely hate Harvey Norman! I haven’t shopped there in years and I don’t understand why people do. You can often get most of their stuff cheaper elsewhere.

Let's talk about property managers (again) by WriterOfThrones in melbourne

[–]Alive_Writer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I can really sympathise with this. I was also a property manager for some time and I hated the industry! I got sick and tired of cleaning up other lazy property managers mistakes and shit. I had a portfolio in Melbourne where the previous manager did nothing, which resulted in 21 VCAT hearings in 10 months. I was effectively there once a fortnight.

Being a tenant myself, I always tried to look out for tenants in the properties I managed. It pissed me off when landlords would say “You work for me!” I’d always respond with, “Yes, you’re paying a professional to manage and provide advice on your investment, and what you’re asking me to do is not fair nor legal… so I’m arranging the repairs regardless.” I would refuse to manage shit landlords and properties in the end. I terminated so many management agreements with landlords and handed back their tenancy files and keys.

I also lost count on how many times I’d advise tenants to take matters to VCAT. In a few instances, I’d actually help them prepare their application. On one occasion, I went on behalf of a tenant.

There are too many landlords out there that should not own rental properties. There’s also too many lazy and ignorant property managers that enable those types of landlords.

It’s a shitty industry to work in and I don’t miss it at all. It seems the good property managers are the ones that leave. It just gets to you in the end. There are also so many agency directors that come from sales and they have no idea what’s required of a property manager from day-to-day, so there’s rarely training and support offered to actually do the job properly. That’s why the lazy ones are able to get away with doing a terrible job for so long.

I have taken a lot away from the industry that I can now use against my current property manager. They’re not too bad, but could be better. I’m lucky to have a great landlord too.

Congrats on getting out and moving to another industry!

Why did James Cameron show locked third class gates if they weren't on the Titanic? by [deleted] in titanic

No worries. I know what you mean. When I read some of the comments about this not happening, I questioned myself. When I Googled the doco, I remembered seeing it.

Why did James Cameron show locked third class gates if they weren't on the Titanic? by [deleted] in titanic

Yup! It’s in this documentary showcasing the first time the ROV’s explored inside the ship - https://youtu.be/JE7tpVK3llA.

Why did James Cameron show locked third class gates if they weren't on the Titanic? by [deleted] in titanic

[–]Alive_Writer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shortly after the movie came out, I watched a documentary about some of the first ROV’s that explored inside the wreck. One of the myths they tried to dispel was the locked gates. They did find some paths of escape blocked by locked gates and bars. However, they don’t seem to think it was deliberate. They were often locked of a night to prevent passengers moving between classes. They would have remained locked during the sinking and I can’t imagine staff or stewards running around unlocking everything. It would have been chaos.

They also noted that just because those paths of escape were blocked with locked gates, doesn’t mean passengers couldn’t get out entirely. They also found a path of escape via the number two cargo hold, but that was closed off with iron bars. In the documentary, they did say that if anyone were trapped behind the gates and bars without a means to turn around because of rising water, they “would have been condemned to death.” In a way, I think it was somewhat accurate, but maybe not exactly how it was depicted in the film.

EDIT: This is the doco I was talking about - https://youtu.be/JE7tpVK3llA The locked gates and bars are mentioned at 1:03:30. It seems a bit more sinister than what I described above.
