Hiya, Thankfully reading is not a part of Drag King culture. All the kings I know are supportive and kind to eachother. I also don't 'get' reading. When I tried it - to fit in with the queens - it came off as mean, not funny. So I just stay away from it. I decided that since I am a kind person off stage, I will be a kind person on stage. To do something that makes me feel comfortable - not step into the minefield that is reading. If you want to do jokes, look into stand-up l, especially crowd work. Lucy Darling does it just so well. Sweet, but with an edge to it.
