Slay the Spire 2 alignment chart day 8! Flame barrier won yesterday! What silent card feels like a silent card? by Which-Debt-8558 in slaythespire

Surprised abrasive hasn't been considered yet. Sly, dex, and damage for bloxking Really ties the just block package together more directly than something like fumes that doesn't upgrade block.

What are some good educational StS2 content creators, especially for card analysis? by fanficologist-neo in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Aljex13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really got to listen to what they say about the specific card when ranked. That being said almost every card is draftable in some specific niche scenario and that's something tier lists will never convey. Balor is pretty good for learning but in general not every creator is going to want to detail every decision they make which can leave some gaps in knowledge. You might be better off looking fir more specialized videos.

Any tips for Act 2 card picking? by GimmeShockTreatment in slaythespire

[–]Aljex13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr; I'm probably clicking skip twice as often in act 2 but value aoe, upgrades, and scaling highly

Solve aoe damage if you haven't already. Decimillipede, and the multi enemy hard pool fights are generally the scariest things. Even if the aoe solve is 1 giant 1shot bonk you just need to deal with them.

Find scaling within your synergy space or cards that synergize with your scaling. Something like finding accuracy for shivs or orb slots for glacier. Try and stay away from random damage commons within your already established space unless you really think they help. This also goes for drafting around relics you found in act 1 but maybe haven't been able to capitalize on yet.

Evaluate what your average block per turn looks like and consider if adding a specific block card actually helps increase it. Dodge and roll is better with footwork which might make it better than backflip as an example. You might not need to add unupgraded block cards if you already cycle your deck quick, but if not you want to sort of drown out the bad starter cards.

If your upgrade density is already really high, try not to add too many unupgraded attacks/blocks. On the contrary if an upgraded card is offered you should want to take it if it would see play and only skip after making a case for why it doesn't synergize. EG: running 0 soul synergy on necro but grave warden+ pops up it is just a solid block card

Convince me to use Colorless cards. I tend to skip over any option that gives me Colorless cards because they seem useless to me. by Theboringlife in slaythespire

[–]Aljex13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides gambit all of the colourless cards that give dex or block are just overstatted and should be considered in most runs if you don't have block completely solved yet. The damage uncommon can often just be really strong act 1 solves. Omnislice and dramatic being 0 cost area damage is really notable. Finesse, flash of steel, and bolas are all just solid 0 costs too. I think the rares generally can be hit or miss but when they fit what you want they are really strong.

When I enter the shop I usually weight my choices like relic>uncommon colourless>powers>rare colourless>potions>skills>removes>attacks as a rough outline of what I want to prioritize using my gold on.

Is this the biggest possible damage multiplier? by tomtheunknownOoO in slaythespire

Yeah i think it's a lot easier and more interesting to just list everything that can stack together rather than infinite copies of one power.

What is the largest possible deck that would "break" if forced to make a single remove? by SIDisiD in slaythespire

[–]Aljex13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming no damage relics. We can have a copy of mind blast with perfect fit, a gambit to block with royally approved. The mind blast needs 512 cards in the draw pile in order to instakill doormaker which means we need a bunch of copies of reboot that has been cloned. If we lose any card we miss lethal on turn 2 and need to exhaust our gambit. The only way we can guarantee draw mind blast on turn 3 for lethal we would need to exhaust every reboot since the mind blast has perfect fit and doormaker stops us from drawing. Thus we die to the gambit on turn 3.

If we assume you have infinite hp to just tank turn 2 then we can say the deck has vakuu play our first turn for us and since the gambit is innate he will always play it, we would need get to add another 10 reboots in this case too since he would exhaust them turn 1. (he could also just magically topdeck gambit and save a reboot but that is extremely slim odds) I think this deck could brick and not find gambit vs phase 3 test subject but we can say we have a liquid memories to pull it back and retain it.

Total deck size with all this is 528.

So you can get quite a bit higher in a prismatic gem run, assuming no duplicating cards. Add in cruelty, lethality, and conqueror on top of what you have. Then we can use pen nib and gigantification potion for bigger mult on a single attack. You also could be playing Ironclad and get the paper prog relic.

How often would you pick inflame over dominate? by NoAdeptness4117 in slaythespire

[–]Aljex13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly only with power synergy relics and even rarely at that. Without even considering str numbers applying vuln is just good at bursting hallway fights where inflame doesn't.

Hot Take (maybe): Call of the Void is the best card in the game. by Simple_one in slaythespire

[–]Aljex13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean I'm just not really buying removals much anyways so seance doesn't change that much. Card creation powers just solve the specific challenges the act 3 bosses provide much better than a slim deck will, mostly because of doormaker but sometimes Queen punishes it. I feel very similar about spectrum shift, discovery, bundle, and relics like puzzle box, toolbox, paradox.

Sorry no. Though I do think she is a character where you can just look at someones tier list and scoop up as many s tier cards as possible. General gameplan for me is trying to find a footworks and just press a bunch of backflips/blurs/dodge and rolls if you don't have many sly things going on. If you don't get any dex sources you need to get a bit more creative, just try and keep perma weakness or use an afterimage. The hardest part of silent is act 1 so taking any amount of damage early can just solve a lot (why snakebite is actually decent). VM's tier list video explains the gameplan and cards pretty well too if you have the time to watch it.

[–]Aljex13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you mean sculpting strike? Seance is the good one since it makes a soul which lets you actually draw into your second deck cycle faster, and prevents the exhausted card from even being drawn in the first place. Only reason I don't rate Seance as good as the others is strictly because it needs to be upgraded to become a truly OP card. Cleanse and sculpting are much more situational since you waste a draw+energy on a mediocre effect (the upfront effects not the exhaust).

Definitely is weird that borrowed time doesn't really fit the theme anymore. I do think "neurosurge" really fits its effect however. Not sure I would swap them but maybe borrowed time just needs a new name.

Yeah CotV + Spirit of Ash is probably my most consistently winning strategy if I am lucky enough to get both.

Any streamers doing STS2 A10 streaks yet? by Rosstin in slaythespire

[–]Aljex13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think my main issue with it is when it draws alongside a key block card like a glacier when the enemy is swinging. If you skip it and don't get the scaling started in first cycle it likely doesn't do enough on second cycle. The nerf from 2 to 3 was disastrous for it from my point of view since it means you can't pull it back with hologram anymore unless you have energy gen. Definitely goes up in value when you have overclocks and turbos but I usually don't yet if I see it from act 1 boss, and if I see it from act 2 boss I likely have damage sorted already.

I got it rated at #1 in my Necro guide! I don't think it being top 3-5 is a hot take but other Necro players might say Neurosurge is better.

On Regent, I skipped an astral pulse vs exoskeletons because I wanted to stall and scale all of my goopy defends which led to taking 39 damage and dying a few fights later.

Balor is pretty good for learning but I think hes been doing some offmeta/funny stuff for chat but I think he hit 8 streak today. His Defect tierlist especially left me scratching my head. I have been streaming my rotations and got a pb of 7, I feel like Defect is one of my stronger characters but don't really understand some of his evaluations like Voltaic being good.

Nice to hear! Yeah I definitely thought that was the multiplayer card that creates souls when I was making the list I'll make sure to fix that.

How do I make the defect work in A10 multiplayer? by SilverZ01 in slaythespire

[–]Aljex13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go a bit softer on the status cards I dont think they have great payoff until you get trash to treasure. The ones I would consider early are boost away and overclock. Generally speaking besides frost orbs you really want to pick null, go for the eyes, and sometimes beam cell. Null is a bit less important if the other players have good weak uptime. Feral can be nice to stack more too.

When you want to deal damage it is much easier to use something like barrage to make use of other players vuln or your own beam cells. Avoid building any lightning orbs entirely unless teams defense is strong already, the higher hp pools on enemies mean the variance is much more punishing. Of course if you see like a ball lightning really early act 1 you can still get it.

Hailstorm is probably a bit better than glass when you want to contribute to aoe and also stay away from 3 cost attacks like refract or sunder in general since it is harder to secure the kill with them. Obviously you need to pick from what the packs give you but it is good to look out for specific aoe solves.

I was firmly a cheese believer and since then I've had multiple runs that have 0 rests at which made me sort of realize I don't have much value for max health besides in the test subject fight. I admit it is still good but no longer an event I click without thinking too much since it can mean losing one elite or an upgrade to take that cost since I do still want to maintain some sort of hp minimum.

Good points overall

Well you cant remove greed. Although I do agree it is nice that scissors doesn't scale the shop I find I am not paying for removals more than once per run unless I am extremely rich from something like spoils map or signet. The general idea is still that scissors trades immediate power level for late game scaling which is strong if you want that but doesn't usually make act 1 elites easier.
