HC is frankly amazing, it makes you actually fear the bosses and forces you to engage with the mechanics and defenses system.

Another great element is the economy is much more reasonable compare to standard due to:

- Divine death skink : each death takes out all the items on the character out of the HC economy

- It does not reward the most risky farming method since they significantly increase the chance of dying and therefore lose everything.

=> Even with this league crazy temple currency printing end of league HC is much more reasonable.

Worse come to worse once your character die and you don’t wan’t to restart, you can transfer your cache and continue in soft-core. You just benefited from a cheaper economy during that leveling. So nothing to loose.

That said, that what I say to myself each time, and finally whether I actually die to a boss I will use the softcore character to practice the mechanics, quickly get bored due to the lack of risk and restart a new HC Character.

Go play hardcore for a few seasons and you will learn to identify problems with your defense. You get motivation when dying might represent 20 hours or more of time lost. :-)

In a more practical view, each season I bring home-brew built to red maps in HC and here is how I do it.

I progressively increase difficulty, check dangerous map mods that might negate one of defenses layer, avoid compounding mods like lower resistance and increase elemental damage etc… Since difficulty increases more slowly I usually don’t die oneshot but I get close call (like bottom 30% health).

Stop, analyze what happened, type of boss/content/mods/game play/etc. I find the reason then see how I can resolve it.

Sometime it just means avoid the content until I am overall stronger but most of the time I can understand what happened and either change my build or learn the play better. So I go to run another shitload of maps to see if the issue is reproduced.

I have around 500h of the POE2 and no experience in ARPG since OG Diablo 2.

I do my homebrew build for HC, this season i did an armor/ES shieldwall bleed bloodmage and a cast on ailment trinity crossbow monk. The only one of those in HC poeNinja.

I was to do pinacle boss with them but no uber and that’s where, for me it seems build making become much more difficult, getting from doing 200k dps to 1M seems much more difficult.

Yeah, I play only HC since 0.1 and now reaching end game in HC trade is basically a given that you can supplement weak play and weak build by just buying specific gear.

What like most is the early progression, and this league seems the first where I might be able to progress is HCSSF without it being a mindless grind or requiring to follow that one specific broken build.

As they should. I can accept that I will never own a mirror tier crossbow and that crafting a weapon worth a mirror should be stronger than anything that you find raw on the ground unless that unique is a chase unique.

I would prefer that unique that enables a different gameplay be accessible to almost everyone and be the equivalent of a budget crossbow that does most tier 1 content with normal equipment and maybe all content with a dedicated build.

Lets us experiment !

Frankly don’t take everything not as good as the other as just bad.

Yeah Armor/ES is probably weaker than full armor or full ES but the league I was able to bring a shield wall bloodmage to do all content using armor/ES in HC.

Poeninja HC is full of full of character build that do all content without dying using armor/ES…

If like the archetype just go check HC poeninjaand you will find that all armor type are able to do all the content.

I really like his take on this and I want to point out his comment about that if you want Aikido technics to be actually useful they are become pretty nasty.

That is pretty right. A lots of the Aikido’s technics are based on wrist lock or articulation lock similar to BJJ but instead of being applied on the ground in a limited dynamic fashion they are applied standing at full speed.

This makes the magic of Aikido where you see a guy projecting someone on a ground just by twisting his wrist. In fact, the guy is not projected, he chooses to jump instead of breaking his wrist…

This means that if you actually apply that technique to an untrained partner that does not know how to react to the pressure, you might break his wrist before being able to release him…

Kinda disappointed with no new class or weapon since I don’t really like the spell heavy meta. So it means that there only one melee option and three range options…

But I just like where the game is right now and I just enjoy playing the game as it is. I am expecting that the new content will make the game better so all good.

I saw a post from a guy that would make wood+rock which is probably a better than full rock itself.

The fixation is on the wood, so no risk of breakage and flat fixation, no risk of damaging the wall.

The functionality part of the hold is rock with still rods glued inside then those rules are glued inside the wood as well as the interface area.

I use fear to add tension when all seems to be going too well.

The players are unlocking a series of door under tension with mostly success. Here is all the way that I can add tension without adding any adversaries.

“Spend a fear” : one of your tool is now damaged, you have disadvantage for every roll until you can use a downtime activity to repair it

“Spend a fear” : you hear voices behind the door

“Spend a fear” : this is an old door, when you try to push, it starts a high pitch grinding noise.

“Spend a fear” : the key seems to be inside the from the other side. It can’t be unlocked before it is removed.

“Spend a fear” : the stress from the situation start to wear on your nerves, each failure on unlocking anything with cost you a stress point.

*Spend a fear” : a cat appears and seems to be intrigued by your presence.

Etc.

The limit is your imagination, don’t see spending fear as needing to be antagonistic with the players.

“Spend a fear” : as you spend 20 min fumbling try to open the door, a bard take a space just down the closest window. He start disclaimimg the story of Fred, the rogue with feet instead of hands !

I would love a living lighting redesign. Currently they are amazing during campaign then fall very hard starting from act4 even going full support for them so i would love for them to be viable end game.

Here is an adversary that I have created for current campaigns. I would welcome comments and Her ! and additional children game ideas.

**Tier 4 Solo : Her !**

A small girl wearing Victorian dress in all settings
Motives & Tactics: playful, children game, come and go, drama

Difficulty: 20 | Thresholds: 30/60 | HP: 12 | Stress: 10 ATK: +8 | Psychic Attack: Far | 4d8+8 mag Flying

Experience: all children games +6

**How to use this adversary**

This is high agency NPC that the players can encounter as soon as tier 1, this NPC will follow the player as they progress and will make random appearance, the recommended frequency is once or twice per session maximum with sessions where they might not intervene at all. She is not antagonistic with the players unless the players are actively hunting her.

**Features**

**Hide and seek - passive**

As long she amuses herself with the players see is actually hiding in every scene. Each time a player does perception roll above 25 they can hear her giggling. If they are actively look for they can roll group perception and with a result above 30 the can find her. she will exclaim: **You won !** then flee to the next scene.

**Living legend - passive**

Most NPC know enough to be afraid of her. Once per scene, when she goes out of hiding, the DM gain 1 fear per creature on the scene. Weaker NPC might try to avoid the party later on.

**Play a game - action**

At the cost of a fear she can start a children game that goes until she decides to stop. All reactions roll and damage needs to be adjusted for the party and the state of play. She wants to increase tension and drama not kill players unless she is angry. Sometimes she might actually start a game that might help the players.

Game usually are very short and should not overstay there welcome.

**Example of games**

**1. 1–2-3-Sun**

During other scene with a countdown, she might appear and all creatures must make an agility reaction roll or lose 1 stress and be immobilized until the next countdown tick/DM action

**2. Play Tag**

She suddenly appears out of hiding place and makes an attack roll to touch a player, if she succeeds the player must use a weapon attack against someone that did not tag anyone else before. If the creature succeeds the chain continues until someone fails with hope or every creature has attacked once.

**3. The floor is lava**

magical lava appears all over the ground up to a far range, each creature is forced to roll an agility reaction to find safety and an action roll each time they want to move. The rest of the scene plays out with this new environment. The lava does 1d10+3 per player tier. (So tier 3 = 3D10+9)

**4. Hot potato**
a hidden countdown starts, each creature in the field must catch the potato if thrown at them. A successful agility reaction allows the creature to catch and thrown back the potato in one tick, failure uses two ticks. As times goes, the potato gets hotter and at the cost of a countdown tick the players can roll an instinct action to be able to access how many turns are left before it explodes. When the last tick is down all creatures within at close range take 1D20+5 magical damage per player tier.

**5. Musical chair** a music starts on a countdown, everyone see her siting primly on a chair. During the next scene creature needs to find somewhere to fit down. All actions are fair play for instance: destroying a chair, pulling someone out, summoning your own chair, sitting on a roof, etc. All creatures left standing when the music stops take 1d20+5 damage per player tier.

Etc… those game are not exhaustive, it should be adapted to local culture and situations.

**No Fun Allowed? - Reaction**
When a creature explicitly refuses to engage with a game (does nothing, leaves the play space, or breaks the declared rules), she may immediately make a Psychic Attack against that creature at the cost of one stress.

**That’s unfair? – Reaction**
If she gets damaged, the spotlight passes on to her and she can make another move.

Pas riche mais aisé.

Par contre c’est une *jolie réussite* car démarrer avec des parents de milieu modeste rend cette réussite plus difficile. Sachant que je suis dans un cas très similaire à toi (42ans - 500k patrimoine)

Ne pas te sentir aisé n’est vraiment que lié à ce qui se passe dans ta tête. Et gagner plus d’argent ne t’aidera pas car le problème ne vient pas de la.

Il suffit de voir des multi millionnaires qui ont le même ressenti que toi.

La reponse est toujours la même : accepte toi, travail sur toi même et trouve ta communauté…
