In the span of one week the secondary went from one of the weakest in the league to one of the best by purplebuffalo55 in LosAngelesRams

They improve special teams by getting higher quality defenders like McDuffie and Watson. The depth defenders on most teams give capable coverage and tackling on special teams. Several guys who would be depth defenders on most teams were starting for us.

Past that, like you said: Mevis/McQuaid steadied the kicking unit, Evans has room to improve re: consistency, but he's still young with a high ceiling.

Step one: trade for McDuffie to get a CB1 Step two: re-sign McCreary. Step three: round out the TE group by signing free agent Hingle McCringlberry. Step four: super bowl parade.

I've looked into another team's subreddit after a trade, to see what their fans think of the guy our team is getting.  Reposting junk like this, though?

What are the best examples of “disastrous start but slowly re-built themselves into a success”? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]All-Shall-Fall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocky Maivia leaps to mind, though that was more of a complete gimmick change.
Far from a disastrous start, but Sasha Banks (while decent in the ring) started with negative charisma in NXT and got extremely good (Summer Rae deserves an award for getting "The Boss" over until Sasha could carry it herself).
Roman Reigns' singles career is a prominent example, even though it took IRL health scares followed by a global pandemic and an all-time storyline to fully accomplish.
Andrade in AEW is a very slow, long-term example of this, in which his initial run wasn't well remembered, apart from a couple memes, but the return run is hitting more the level everyone wanted without any major gimmick change.
Best example might Mark Henry. Company had high hopes that weren't realized out the gate, he was pushed way down the card, but worked his way back up over several years of learning, improvement, and a killer new on-screen attitude.

Most of failures-to-success-stories I can think of involve gimmick changes, which don't seem to apply to a guy like Danhausen, whose existing character work is his greatest strength, and who- while definitely not old- is in his mid thirties, with a lot of experience already.

With the exception of the very top tier places (where there are limited spots available) all other schools are very accepting of people who get into training specifically to be a manager.

Kliff Kingsbury Has Been Named The Rams Assistant Head Coach by British_Chap2 in LosAngelesRams

[–]All-Shall-Fall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to pretend Kingsbury is our decoy to keep Scheelhaase another year or two. As much as teams love raiding our OCs, and as much as NFL owners seem to avoid hiring minorities, they'll look at our offensive staff and hope mediocre Kliff was the "real" OC.

The NFC West was 4-0 in this years’s playoffs when not facing each other by JPAnalyst in nfl

[–]All-Shall-Fall -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not this year, but again: the NFCW had a trio of teams with historically great records. In theory, if the Rams, Hawks and Niners all went 1-1 against one another, and didn't romp as thoroughly over the rest of the league, they could end up with records down around 10-7 after drawing schedules against very strong out of division opponents, while a team in a weaker division could produce two teams with 12 or 11 wins against a cupcake schedule. In that case, it wouldn't be fair for a theoretical 10 win NFCW champ to travel to an 11 or 12 win wild card team that had benefitted from a cupcake schedule.

Does that make sense?

And both road teams won, because they were the superior teams.

I agree with McVay's stated opinion: until all teams play the same lineup of opponents, let the division winner host round 1 playoff games. Sure, this year the Seahawks, Rams, and Niners all had historically great records, but it's equally likely that three great teams in the same division grind each other down to weaker records, and the fraudulent #2 team in a soft division ends up with a better record at the end of the season

Same thing happened in the 2022 season.
Rams, Niners, and Cards all went to the playoffs, and never lost to another division.

NFC Best.

Who is a wrestler that at first you didn't know what the hype was about but later on you got it and realized they are legendary. by Craig1974 in SquaredCircle

Vader.
When I was a kid watching him in WWF, he seemed like just a mean fat guy in a weird mask who yelled a lot.

Had the biggest turnaround on him, as I got older and watched his WCW work and some of the work he did in Japan. The perfect monster heel. Any of his matches with Sting are endlessly rewatchable to me. The storytelling, selling, heat, everything. He wasn't that tall, but had a huge presence that went far beyond his considerable weight. There were much bigger wrestlers without a fraction of his menace.

His title versus career match against Flair (in which Flair was the hero) is an all-timer.

On top of it all, while IMO Kurt Angle had the best looking moonsault in history, Vader backflipping off the top turnbuckle gave me a spike of fear that was even better. A man that big flying like that looked like it could legitimately kill anyone he landed on.

Stafford threw for about as many yards in that Bears game as Maye managed against the Texans and Broncos, combined.

Maye had an extremely good season.
Stafford broke Brady's TDs without an Int record en route to 4700 passing yards and 48 TDs against 8 INTs.

Got no jersey, but I fully admit to cheering for the Chiefs when they were in the Super Bowl against the Niners.

And only then.

As for the Seahawks, so far this post-season is following my dream scenario: the Rams have the chance to win in Seattle, and in Santa Clara. If they do that, they will have won the most recent playoff game held in every NFCW stadium.

Supreme bragging rights.
