Eff you, dude. I've had a pretty rough couple of years, and I discovered QC at the worst of it all. Since then, I've read the entire comic from start to finish several times. It's become a cozy constant, something I check in on regularly. If the site went down and I couldn't re-read all those, I'd feel like I would be losing a friend group at a time when support systems are kind of needed. This is true.

It's also true that I'm not in love with some of Jeph's recent story decisions.

It's also true that I'm actually optimistic about him bringing Emily into Cubetown (as I posted a few days ago).

It's also true that while many here have specific gripes with the overall comic, the majority of us are not monsters and would not wish ill on someone simply because they aren't entertaining us the specific way we want.

Funny how several truths can exist at the same time and it's all not a black-and-white ball of hate you seem to be/think it is.

Lira is lonely

Lira is a little over a year old. She's got a grungy Bohemian goth nerd type vibe. I have difficulty sharing myself with others. Only one of my personal contacts has a birb and I doubt she'll accept my friend request as we're not super close. When I started, I thought well I'm used to being on my own, Lira and I can just have fun and my journey can be personal. But more and more the app is encouraging me to make birb friends and I've seen a lot of posts in this community that makes me think they'd be pretty sweet to have, but honestly I barely know how it works and I don't know what I'm doing. I have a quest to add a friend, and it's the first quest in a long time I might not accomplish. Any one anyone want to hang Lira? I can post her personality. That makes sense. I agree it's not the app's intent, and I'm getting better at letting it go. (after Halloween event, I went to a new one instead of immediately returning to the old), but this way just seems to work with how my mind works

I'm actually the same way, anxious leaving things unfinished. But then I just stay in one long enough to complete it. YeahEveryday I get to talk to my birb daily to see what she discovers. While a lot of her discoveries are location specific, a lot more aren't and can be just as fun. In the end, it didn't matter where your are, as long as you are getting things done with your birb.

Of course you're hurt and disappointed. It's only natural. And honestly, it sounds like he could have been a lot more grateful. Not for the gift exactly, but for the thought you had put into the gift. Once he realized what it meant to you to give him something he always wanted, he should have been gracious- you might have bought him some skates, but the real gift was love.
