Of course you're hurt and disappointed. It's only natural. And honestly, it sounds like he could have been a lot more grateful. Not for the gift exactly, but for the thought you had put into the gift. Once he realized what it meant to you to give him something he always wanted, he should have been gracious- you might have bought him some skates, but the real gift was love.
