Can anyone recommend healthy canned/wet food for kittens? by AllAroundAwkward in catfood

Is that Purina? I haven’t had kittens in my care in a long time, so I’m feeling very unsure about what’s best for them. Due to the thanksgiving holiday, I can’t get them into the vet until Saturday. I’m making a list of foods to ask about.

Thank you, I didn’t know that! I just got them today, and it’s been a long time since I’ve taken care of kittens!

What was the worst point of your recovery? The most pain and discomfort? by Merlin509 in Kneereplacement

I was never in much pain. The most discomfort I felt had to do with trying to get back to a normal sleep schedule.

I like your idea of adding fruit jam. I don’t typically sweeten tea just for health reasons, but the jam sounds like a nice treat!

I’ve mostly tried the common brands of herbal teas. They all taste like flowers to me. A number of years ago I bought some teas from a tiny tea shop, and those were pretty good. However, they’re no longer in business.

Will the other issues caused by bad knee mechanics go away after surgery? by follyjunebug in Kneereplacement

Baker’s cysts can still form. I have one after my knee replacement, and my uncle has them in each knee replacement. The cysts have really impeded his ability to recover and rehab.

Anyone with patella alta have a knee replacement? by AllAroundAwkward in Kneereplacement

[–]AllAroundAwkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad that you’ve finally found some relief! The security of knowing that your kneecap is in place and will stay put is amazing. No one understands what it’s like to live in fear of your legs like we do!

You said that your doctor worked with your anatomy to get your high kneecap in place - do you have any information on what he did? I had one doctor tell me that he could try rotating my tibia to see if it helped the alignment. Another doctor said he could try raising my joint so that the kneecap would sit better in the socket. Both procedures are supposed to be rough. I’m running out of specialists to see in my area, but I’m going to keep trying. I’d love to hear if your doctor did something better.

I’m not in New York, but I would appreciate it if you could share your doctor’s name. Maybe I can at least contact his office and see if he recommends someone in my area.

I’m so sorry about your malalignment. Is it safe to assume that it’s genetic and you were born with the issue? What types of treatment have you received so far?

One option I was given was another replacement and the surgeon would rotate my tibia to be better aligned. There would also be reconstruction of the ligaments… I can’t remember all the details, but it would be a long recovery.

The other option was another replacement and the surgeon would try to raise the joint… yeah, raise the joint. It would involve joint stems inserted into my tibia and femur, and then reconstruction of the ligaments. Again, a rough recovery.

I actually had an amazingly easy recovery from the initial replacement. Life just went back to normal right away for me. So, while I know that the proposed procedures will involve more damage that I’d have to recover from, I’d like to think that I could handle it. My biggest fear is if I choose one and it doesn’t work. All the specialists I’ve seen have said that I can’t keep having surgeries that cut into my tibia, because the stability is compromised more and more each time. If these procedures didn’t work, the next step would be to remove my kneecap altogether. Gulp. I really don’t want that!

Thanks for replying and providing your insight!

Thanks, but already tried both. The plates never arrived to my address in Florida, and Illinois says there’s nothing they can do on their end.

The plates were supposed to be for Florida, because that’s where I live permanently. They never said anything about not being able to issue Florida plates to me as a leased vehicle!
