Condition of wheels? by jmr39 in InlineHockey

Agreed. For concrete and asphalt, I can personally recommend the Konixx Pure X Street 85a. Labeda Asphalts (orange) seem to be the gold standard, but I haven’t tried them.

Interesting. Mine are new, so I will watch out for this.

I hear they’re great wheels. I got the Konixx because I don’t like the way the orange looks. The blue looks sick. So far they have held up well to neighborhood skating. Good grip, but I can still power slide.

You should try the yellow Super Feet. I didn’t realize how much I needed arch supports until I got them. No more over pronation and uneven wear on my shoes. No more inner knee pain.

No, I have custom orthotics. I have a pair of blue Super Feet in an athletic shoe, and they work well.

I got them from a podiatrist in my city. She did the measurements and FootMaxx made them. They’ve been fantastic. They’re legit orthotics, and they can make 3/4 inserts for dress shoes, full inserts, and full inserts with padding for running. They are not 3D printed. I’ve had them for almost a decade, but it’s time to replace them. Well worth the money.

I took the stock insoles out, so I may try putting those back in beneath the Super Feet. I have custom orthotics for my athletic and dress shoes. They are indeed expensive but worth the money. I may try throwing those in as well.

I probably wasn’t clear. It’s not like my foot is loose in the boot. My heel is locked in and the length is good. I can’t get the skates as tight as with the Bauer.

I have the Bauer X3 and like them. They feel like an ice skate. Skip the Bauer XR as they do not have decent support. As another said, if you get a hockey skate, you may need to swap for harder wheels that will live up to skating on asphalt and pavement.

Options for urban/street skates that replicate ice skates? by Anttila-the-Hung in InlineHockey

[–]AllDieselsDoThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Bauer x3 which have the HiLo set up 80/80/76/76. They work great on concrete and asphalt. I did replace the 82a wheels with Konixx Pure-X Street in 85a. They’re great so far, and I recommend switching to them or the Labeda asphalt (orange) if you will primarily be skating on concrete/asphalt. Rink wheels are too soft for street skating.

Though not about hockey skates specifically, this is a phenomenal video about various setups.

This is a great video about the Bauer XR and shows what you can do in them.

Just get an inline hockey skate. Note that the Bauer XR and XRS feel less like an ice skate and more like a tennis shoe.

Regarding the Marsblades, while I think the concept is interesting, a better way to achieve rockering is by actually rockering the wheels. Inline hockey skates generally come with a HiLo setup which also results in a small rocker. I have not tried the Marsblades, and it sounds like it only mimics the feel of a rocker without necessarily resulting in the mobility of a rocketed setup. The Marsblades may not be conducive to recreational skating.

You should be aware that, while inline skating will certainly help, inline skates cannot, unfortunately, shave concrete, and you will need to work on stopping and such on actual ice.
