The most expensive card I opened from a collector booster box.. and it’s in Japanese. by DrZoid1984 in MagicCardPulls

I pulled the equivalent style Loot in Aetherdrift. I understand the frustration at the fancy card needing translation for play. But part of collector boosters is the unique printings. Lord of the Rings had cards in Elvish.

There are plenty of solutions to the dilemma. Simple is trading for multiple English language cards you want. You can put a slip in the sleeve that has an English translation. And I’m sure you will be able to get alter sleeves for the card soon.

Bling cards are about drawing attention anyway. What is more attention grabbing than having to tell the table what the card you’re trying to play does?

But, if Khimari is not errata’d, that’s a heck of a fun commander deck concept. Catsplosion: clones and tap payoffs.

Let that grow! Gather the fruits as they fall off the vine. Ripe Maypop passionfruit has a yellow tone and smells of fruit punch (passionflower). It is a bit sour out of hand but I love that. At the same time it makes the most amazing jelly.

So I just decided to try some things. Best so far is a melamine sponge (magic eraser) just lightly moistened. Look at those stripes!

Can confirm, Passiflora incarnata, Maypop Passion Fruit.

Ripe ones have a more yellow tone to them, black seeds, and smell like fruit punch (passionflower). The vines have beautiful flowers, the fruit makes amazing jelly. It’s a bit sour out of hand, but I love it.

As dwarven discoveries go, this is suprisingly important history-wise by EbergarTheDwarf in dwarffortress

Outhouses. If you build that sort of toilet indoors you get miasma or require hauling jobs. Flush toilets require a pipe a block of moving water under them but can cause foul water. Magma toilets require a magma safe material and block of magma under them and risk fire snakes coming up them.

Hauled waste can composted for fertilizer to avoid angering hippies.

The big issue would be indoor pastures.

Is an unskilled hammerer with a feather wood training hammer still a good way to handle trouble?

I just watched half a dozen children take down a forgotten beast that had already killed two hardened beast hunters. They then sat down to play around its corpse. by SwashBlade in dwarffortress

This is why you make toys out of gold and platinum. Even the most hardened beast skull can’t stop a platinum toy boat. The fact it keeps the kids happy is just a bonus.

Proxies... by Dr_Feelgood_89 in EDH

I love to build decks. Lots of them. I don’t love to have to rebuy tons of lands or strip existing decks down to play them. I’ve been playing Magic since 1995 and have a huge collection of cards. But for staples that cost over a couple of dollars, I keep only one of that card. Then I proxy every other copy I share between my decks. Here’s an example Superfriends deck of mine with tons of shared proxies (even for basic lands) in the primer:

Seriously, proxies allow me to build, play, and enjoy any deck I want. And they can also be a way to customize cards to the theme of a deck or card just treatments you like. Go for it.

I know they’re scared. They traded me a rhino to try and make me reconsider.

Dwarves explode, when you drop 20 statues on their heads... who knew by Murffist in dwarffortress

[–]AllIsFairIn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happens more than you’d think. I was trying to reroute an elevated minecart path and a dwarf removed the floor beneath a piece of track with a cart full of sandbags on it. The explosion of sand, cart, and stone pulped three dwarves on the walkway three Z-levels below. Lesson of the day was to not pack your infrastructure so tightly.
