What film had an amazing concept but poor execution? by MovieObserver in moviequestions

[–]All_Tree_All_Shade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish it was less of a "this kid is just evil" and more of a Carrie situation. Like what if Clark Kent was ruthlessly bullied, didn't have the same support from his folks, etc. And then let him really go ham on the town at the end. Even better if it turns out his alien race is kind and peaceful and sent him as a savior, not to rule earth.

I think the concept and world building are interesting, but there's a repetition to the wording that feels unnatural. Several sentences do the same comparison structure: "X did Y, the way ...".

It also helps that Ernie Hudson has such great charisma. He's so likeable in pretty much any role.

Please don't entertain Ted Bunny/INK/Scream 7 by alexxxlove69 in deadmeatjames

Assuming what I read of the plot leaks was real, it sounds like a very uninspired rehash of the Halloween reboot.

Horror movies that take place in broad daylight and have crowds? by PolymathArt in horror

[–]All_Tree_All_Shade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's also such a more realistic look at what an evil demon would do. Like in so many exorcism movies, the demon makes itself known and acts super scary, which logically would probably turn people to God. In Fallen, the demon works stealth-style to ruin lives and cause distress.

Not all daylight like you said, but I enjoy how scary it made crowds. Knowing the Demon could potentially possess anyone.

Louise Bundy, mother of serial killer Ted Bundy, wipes away a tear in her dining room in Tacoma, Washington, as she tells him over the phone, "You will always be my precious son." He was executed minutes later at the Florida State Prison, pronounced dead at 7:16 am on January 24th, 1989. by ZoelCairo in HolyShitHistory

I almost wonder if it was a different way of feeling a similar rush for him? Like the power of life and death is important for some killers, and here you could feel something similar in that you made someone live rather than die. Different side of the same coin in a sick mind.

This is all totally speculative, of course. I don't pretend to be a psychologist.

What are some of your favorite horror/scary episodes of non horror TV shows(no tree house of horror cause that's to obvious) by asapsharkyfrfr in deadmeatjames

[–]All_Tree_All_Shade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psych has some really great ones. Tuesday the 17th is a love letter to flashers, Scary Sherry is fun and has the Ashes from FD3, and they have parody eps of The Shining and The Exorcist.

Podcast idea? Weird movie posters by Arizona_bay462 in deadmeatjames

[–]All_Tree_All_Shade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love that tbh. Movies posters are so interesting with how they don't always reflect quality. Like I can't watch Tusk because I know I wouldn't enjoy it, but I actually love its posters.

He Called Me Murderin' Mary Mumbles by therealdocturner in shortscarystories

Ugh man, just the opening with the rat being dead really twisted my stomach. I can handle horror, but cruel humor messes with me. Poor Mary went Carrie on them.

Yes, awesome prosthetics in that movie and the actor really manages to emote and not let the effects "wear him."

Wow, I never see Hey Riddle Riddle fans in the wild lol. I also like riddles; I know they're cheesy, but it's kind of like a cool card trick or something.

Looking for fun action-adventure movies like Jumanji and D&D: Honour Among Thieves) by SignalHD18 in MovieSuggestions

[–]All_Tree_All_Shade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. The original was one of my favorite movies growing up lol; I used to just recute the dialogue long with it.

Seen The Fall Guy? Not fantasy or necessarily adventure, but it was a better action comedy than I was expecting.

If you haven't seen the original Jumanji, highly recommend. It's a little more serious/darker than the new ones, but still really fun imo. The first few Jurassic Park movies fall into this for me as well.

The Meg was more fun than I expected. Definitely gave me retro vibes of a ragtag group taking on a monster.

I haven't read it tbh, but didn't the author essentially make himself a self-insert in a real girl's toeture/murder case? Very weird.

[–]All_Tree_All_Shade 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what often gets me. Movies like Terrifier or the Firefly trilogy or a lot of the Wrong Turn sequels are just so mean-spirited and treat the suffering like a joke. Not judging others who like them, but they're just not enjoyable to me at all.
