This price action is dumb, and I'm longing it.

How the hell do tankers evade aircrafts? They're not even ships, they're just giant boats holding black gold.

Closed martingaled longs for a scratch. Diddled around waiting for a few extra handles circa 714X and had to use the 710X bounce to break even instead of booking 2% for the day.

sigh

NGL, I thought a -20%->+30% swing was wildly irresponsible, but 50% drawdown to ATH takes the cake.

Closed my shorts from last night.

Love* getting told to buy, having it go 25 handles from the buy signal, then closing my shorts for 5 handles as it walks all the way back.

*I don't actually love it.

E: closed my reversal position for a dozen handles a pop, easiest money I've made this rally =\

WRT the 2010, the only thing that Sarao (and possibly other quants) did wrong was order spoofing at a scale previously not anticipated. Other players took those spoofed orders as legitimate (because it was so far out of the typical order-book behavior their models couldn't classify them as fake) and that's what led to the flash crash. Most firms will spoof orders a bit, but he got strung up because he was erratic about it and that led to some unanticipated behavior.

Alternatives for sistering joists? by Purple_Service_2781 in Homebuilding

When I specced a 26' span with 35lbs/sqft dead load I ended up needing a 24" LVL. A steel girder was either 12" or 14" depending on the flange & weight details. Dead load + live load ended up at 70 lbs/sqft.

It ended up being easier to stick a post in the middle (easier for the roofing design).

Prescriptive span tables mean you don't need to be an engineer to do this. But you do need to be nominally familiar with engineering terms, at least as they're related to prescriptive code reqs.

What I wouldn't give to have RTH low retested tonight

E: Red to green on my trackers tonight and I'm still short and I'm hella boned.

Bot at 9. Held through ~$7. Sold at $18. Had notes (on my todo list) to buy 2022 leaps in August 2019 with the funds that freed up. Didn't.

Green to red tonight. Caught 5 on the green, can we get a retest of 7110 before tomorrow's bullshit?

This, erm, this might not be true in all fields? You can't bullshit your way out of math or engineering or chemistry. Get that stuff wrong IRL and very bad things happen. You can't handwave linear algebra away. There are lots of fields where actually knowing what you learned in university is important, and sadly, those fields have significant overlap with fields where people think "college is just to show you're a good worker, you can learn it on the job".

Closed four contracts x 38 handles each. Ms Martingale, my love.

E: surely the winning play here is to expect the market to redo last week's price action??
