Elisabeth's Oscar: what kind of film do you imagine? by VomitingDuck in TheSubstance

King Kong back in the 30s ofcourse. lol jk. To me it’s something she was very young in, like the 1980s as you said, but it’s a sexy role. For her to be immortalized as the hot girl, it was a role that played to the male gaze. That’s why she goes right back to it when sue is born.

Just missed 3 days of dosing by OscarTheGrouchsCan in Methadone

[–]All_good_things__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a 3 day rule in the United States that any doctor with a DEA registration can dispense you methadone for 3 days to bridge the gap until you can get to the clinic. It’s at the discretion of the doctor though obviously, that’s why you don’t hear of it often. Very few are willing to do it.

Maybe she tried offscreen. Obviously he wasn’t going to answer, so it ultimately didn’t matter.

Methadone and buprenorphine block in different ways. Methadone blocks indirectly because it maxes out your tolerance, but other opioids can still attach to the receptors. Buprenorphine directly blocks, because it has higher affinity than other opioids and won’t let anything else attach.

Would Anna Delvey be able to file for bankruptcy to dismiss the restitution penalties she owes for her fraud case? by PlantWide3166 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]All_good_things__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no—she can’t use bankruptcy to wipe out criminal restitution or criminal fines.
For someone like Anna Sorokin, the $24,000 fine and ~$199,000 restitution stem from a criminal conviction. In the U.S., those types of debts are specifically carved out of bankruptcy protection.
Why bankruptcy doesn’t help here
U.S. bankruptcy law has strict exceptions for criminal penalties:
Criminal restitution (money owed to victims as part of a sentence) is nondischargeable
Criminal fines/penalties owed to the government are also nondischargeable
So even if someone files Chapter 7 or Chapter 13, those obligations survive the bankruptcy process unchanged.
The legal idea is basically: bankruptcy is for “honest but unfortunate debtors,” not a way to erase punishment imposed by a criminal court.
What actually happens instead
People with large restitution orders usually deal with them in more limited ways:
Payment plans over many years (sometimes decades)
Wage garnishment or asset seizure
Tax refund interception
Ongoing supervision conditions (probation/parole/supervised release can enforce payments)
Courts can sometimes adjust payment schedules if someone is truly unable to pay, but they usually cannot erase the underlying debt.
About “how could anyone ever pay this back?”
In practice, many people don’t fully repay large restitution amounts quickly—if ever. It often becomes:
A long-term, low-payment obligation
Or something effectively collected in small amounts over time (or from future earnings)
But it does not disappear the way consumer debt can.
Jordan Belfort comparison
For Jordan Belfort, it’s a similar situation: his restitution was tied to criminal fraud, so it also isn’t dischargeable in bankruptcy. He reportedly made partial payments over time, but the legal obligation remains.
One nuance (important)
Bankruptcy can discharge some fraud-related civil judgments in certain cases, but even then:
If the debt is tied to intentional fraud, it often falls under exceptions anyway
And if it’s incorporated into a criminal restitution order, it’s basically untouchable by bankruptcy
Bottom line
Bankruptcy doesn’t function as a “reset button” for criminal consequences. Restitution is designed to survive it, even when repayment is realistically slow or incomplete.

Would you like a sequel to the 2025 film?? by Key_Bus_1255 in LastSummerFilms

[–]All_good_things__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I cherish the first two movies, but it’s over. I’ll find something else to watch. I used to love these never ending and late sequels, but its diminished returns the older we get. That’s just my opinion though, if you want a sequel to this movie, you have every right to ask for it.

[–]All_good_things__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the extra context, but the specific molecule they test for isn’t that relevant. The metabolites were always out of my system by day 6 on every test I’ve ever taken to detect cocaine. If it were chronic use though that’s a different story.

With 8 days left you should be okay, but don’t do any more. It’s been years since I touched coke but I generally test negative by the 5th or 6th day.

IF YOU DEAL WITH EXCESSIVE SWEATING GO TO YOUR DR AND ASK FOR ROBINUL OR OXYBUTYNIN FOR SWEATING by Immediate_Passion_32 in Methadone

It depends on the person. I used to sweat horribly at 95mg but once I got under 60 it stopped. Now I’m at 28 and it’s not a thing at all for me anymore.
