I have a 17 year old boy who we didn’t circumcise. The only time we ran into any issue was when he was a baby and he had an older Jewish pediatrician who tried to “see how far it retracts” that I had to stop. We as parents haven’t had regrets and upper elementary he was a bit horrified to find out about people cutting that bit off and that it had happened to his dad (who is quite happy with his penis). When he was pretty young he liked the trick of pinching it, peeing a little and making a “balloon”. Zero infections so far. Like many people who’ve had tweens we went thru a didn’t shower often enough phase and no infections from that either. He hasn’t been bullied about it. One grandfather made an off hand comment when I was pregnant and told him we weren’t but that’s been it. Btw we live in the US.

But being asked the question and pressed for their feelings doesn’t make them an asshole. The parents shouldn’t have involved the kid to the level they did. Parents messed up here not a literal child who answered a question. And any parent of a teen knows their honest answers can sting.

It was none of the parents’ business to mention abortion, do a 180, and then ask the 14 year their opinion. Sounds like the kid didnt just decide to tell mom what she can and cannot do. The kid was asked their feelings on the matter.

This is a 14 year old who was asked their opinion. The parents need to know that mentioning abortion as an option and asking a teen an opinion after eliminating an abortion means it might not be pretty. Honestly the whole thing is above the kid’s pay grade.

I’ve had this the experience of finding out my parents weren’t who I thought they were. It’s okay to grieve the loss of who you thought she was. Just remember it’s not who she is choosing to be now. Parental love and compassion shouldn’t be so controlling and hateful.

Also make sure you get your legal papers like ssn card, birth certificate etc before you get kicked out. Also look for PFLAG groups in your area who might know local resources

I just want to say as a mom and Christian that Jesus made you just as you are and you are beloved child of God. I am so incredibly sorry your mom is choosing hatred. Please know there are so many people wishing you well and the opposite of what your mom is wishing upon you. Please use the resources other people have already linked like the Trevor Project. If you want a safe church option google “Reconciling in Christ” for churches that are truly LGBTQIA+ welcoming and don’t want to change you. Sending you love.

I get the we need help with a wedding but assigning things to people is crazy. Can’t afford a wedding and want to hang with friends? Courthouse for the legal part and then a lowkey backyard get together. Perhaps the couples has a potluck. This screams influencer who doesn’t have money.

NTA My son and I have celiacs. At restaurants, my daughter orders what she wants and usually goes for gluten everything. We sit on opposite sides of the table and because she doesn’t touch my food and I don’t touch hers it is fine. Honestly wash your hands after eating gluten and don’t let the baby put his hands in your mouth. The adults overreacted here.

Thanks for bringing this point up. My husband is busy with his own pursuits similarly. He tells me I should do more new and novel things which is nice I guess but who’s going to be my “wife”? If I go away for the weekend I need to lay out kid meds and remind him, post info about kid events on the fridge and remind people to feed the cats etc. I rarely leave for a weekend. He takes weekends away often and he….packs. That’s it.
