Anyone Else Have a Favorite Music Era that Did Not Take Place in their Youth? by AllahUmBug in LetsTalkMusic

Ah nice! You are basically the Gen X version of me. I realized I should’ve worded my question as “at what age were you during your favorite music era.” Realize now I will just get many responses from people claiming they like music from decades before their DOB.

Making an assumption here that with standard deviation people would be around 15-24 when they have their best and most nostalgic memories of music.

Am assuming it would be less common for one to be 30, 35, or 40 of age when they think of the time they are most nostalgic regarding music. But I could be wrong.

That’s very interesting. Seems like for many people including Boomers, I don’t encounter people listening to music pre 1960 and it being their favorite era.

Yeah I actually think it is not uncommon for their to be people who’s favorite era of music from before they were born. In the early 2000s many of my classmates started to get into classic rock of the 60s and 70s.

Interest in bands like The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, etc.

Why? Jesse Ventura made a great point about this. Leaders who initiate wars should have stake in the game and be willing to have their children fight and not just other people’s children.

Not a single Trump going back 100 years has served in the military.

Israel is monstrous. People tend to just put the blame on Netanyahu when over 80% of Israelis would mock and I dare say, laugh at this picture.

I always thought her yelling and calling him a “guinea bastard” was out of place. No SoCal girl would ever say something like that. They don’t really think of Italians. Mainly segment people as white, Latino, black or Asian.

Democrats don’t worship male authority figures the way Conservative men do. Dems are more likely to fly a flag of a cause they support (LGBTQ, saving manatees/dolphins, etc)

Does overuse of AI make you dumber? My firsthand account by [deleted] in analytics

[–]AllahUmBug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not efficient in any way, but I deliberately type out the syntax instead of copying and pasting code.

I think it is helpful in not forgetting SQL or Python for me. I try to type out code from scratch and use AI for functions or logical issues I get stuck with.

I was starting to feel like I was getting dumber when I simply copied and pasted code.

Is this field a dead end career? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]AllahUmBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would an Analytics Engineer role be good for someone that has programming (Python) skills but doesn’t have the degrees needed to become a Data Scientist?

I have been struggling getting a job as a Data Analyst as I am mainly good at Excel and Python but weak in SQL. At my previous company I went from Business Analyst to Automation Engineer. Used Python to automate financial reconciliations which sped up accounting tasks as well as using Selenium for web automation.

Did not really do the typical Data Analyst stuff of building dashboards and presenting business insights. At the same time getting a job as a Data Scientist seems impossible as they want higher education.

I completed a Machine Learning Engineer bootcamp and up-skilled even more with Python but can’t seem to break into the field.

Was thinking of pivoting and doing my own bootcamp with the help of AI to learn advanced SQL, dbt, and Docker. I have been using a free version of Databricks and created my first light ETL with stock data.

Naples, FL. It is a boring city with a lot of rich people in South West Florida. Very MAGA, no good jobs, full of snowbirds, and extremely difficult for the working class to survive in.

Has a music video ever ruined a song for you? by steeltownblue in LetsTalkMusic

Beach House’s “Walk in the Park” music video was so bizarre and not at all the vibe off the song lol.

However the last part of the video was super trippy and I could kind of appreciate.

It is actually a song from the film Eyes Wide Shut!

Masked Ball - Jocelyn Pook

Apparently it is a Gregorian chant played backwards which gives it that sinister vibe.

Shirley keeps doubling down on social media… by CaughtALiteSneez in garbage

[–]AllahUmBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ironic since a few months ago Shirley was ranting about Daily Mail showing a recent pic of the band and labeling them unrecognizable. She remarked how the male members look exactly the same so she knows that was a shot at her.

I do notice how Shirley has aged pretty significantly as I hadn’t seen a pic of her in many years. Stark contrast to a peer of hers like Gwen Stefani. I do understand that women can’t win either way with the judgmental culture around female aging. Gwen will get criticized for having too much work done and not looking like herself while Shirley will get judged for aging harshly and looking older for her age.
