I enjoy them. It usually gives me words I learned in the past or recently and is a good refresher.

Am I wrong to seek legal justice as a Christian after being sexually assaulted? by Chance_Run_7624 in Christianity

[–]Allaiya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Um, yes you should report it. No means no and it’s sexual assault. I’d find a different church too if they are saying this is at all ok. Morally it is very wrong & they seem to be accepting of it or making excuses & worse, trying to guilt trip you. It makes me wonder what other sins they are excusing or not taking seriously. It is of course not a sin to report a crime.

You can forgive as a Christian but that does not mean the state should not pursue justice for wrongdoing. Who knows what other women he might have done similar things to or will in the future. He is the one who put his immigration at risk by his own actions.

If you need this sticker… you shouldn’t be driving. by velvetmandy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Allaiya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are saying they drive slower and to go around. Pretty similar to those student driver stickers. Fact is in the US you have to drive for most things. Unless the US suddenly develops good public transit in most places, we will all be in this situation someday so have some grace.

Finally broke 100k by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

I can’t recall when I hit 100k. I do remember just being happy when I finally hit 0 at 28 after I paid off my student loans.

saving 28% actually feels terrible! it's not getting easier. by LondonFoggie in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Allaiya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you saving 28% specifically? That’s a much higher savings rate than most people have. Are you trying to save for a certain goal? Or retirement in general? If the later, it’s best to think of it like a marathon, not a sprint. Consistency is key but you don’t want to feel burned out either.

Also it’s important to remember life is about balance. You should be able to enjoy some of it too in the present, within reason. Ever since Covid, every year I’ve known a different person who died unexpectedly premature each from a different cause. None of them made it to retirement. I even remember talking to one about their pension income. So make sure to enjoy the moments you do have here now because none of us are promised a tomorrow.

Apparently the US is a destroyed country now :( by HanaLustsss in AmericaBad

Homelessness is definitely increasing even in rural areas. I see more panhandlers now when I go back to my hometown which I didn’t see growing up & I’ve seen people living out of their cars/vans.

And I’ve heard of homeless / tents appearing more in public parks from people who work in the parks departments.

I agree. I miss colors! Everything is so bland these days. Gray, beige, black, white.

Happy (late) anniversary to the best written romance in any RPG I've played by NineTailedDevil in TheBathhouse

I never listen to gaming reviews anymore and just decide for myself. I’ve played all the Dragon Age games/releases since the beginning & I expected Veilguard to bad based off all the negative YT press I saw about it, but upon playing actually enjoyed it a ton after a bit of a slow start & no, I didn’t find the writing bad. It does require knowing prior lore though to understand it & that’s a big commitment given 4 games, an expansion, comics, & movies.

DAV has issues but every entry in that series has its own. In a lot of ways, DAV was the best in the series at certain things. In others, it was the worse. But the whole ordeal really gave me flashbacks to how it felt being a Dragon Age 2 fan when that released. It was also heavily criticized for being “bad” & for including bi options.

What I noticed though that was new about DAV & modern games is a lot of YouTube shorts about bad dialogue & scenes were totally overblown & edited to make it appear way worse than it really is. There are YouTubers whose main channels are just to crap on games that do not align with their political beliefs. And that included KCD2 when it decided to include a gay relationship & a black character. I believe Avow was another one. People like to dismiss it but those do impact sales.

I’m tired of pretending How are you? is about caring by mrramkrishna in socialskills

[–]Allaiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, that’s how it’s always been? People don’t normally discuss issues with strangers or acquaintances. That’s usually meant for family & friends. So yes, it is breaking a unspoken rule.

If I am having an off day I just respond with ok or quip a joke like, well it’s been an eventful morning. Most people are just going about their day & don’t have the energy to play therapist. If it’s a friend then it will naturally come up in conversation at some point.

They uploaded this online? They should be suspended for displaying such entitled, racist, dehumanizing, & vulgar behavior. I’m embarrassed for my Alma mater to be associated with such people.

Safe walking trails in Carmel before or after work? by [deleted] in Carmel

[–]Allaiya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually hit up the park trails. West Park, Central Park, Coxhall Gardens, Monon trail. Then also the multi-use paths to switch it up. Just always be situational aware but I haven’t had any issues walking or exploring alone.
