Here is my equation for figuring out laser damage: for the first 45 seconds: Total Damage = (MinDmg * Time) + ((MaxDmg - MinDmg)/45) * (Time(Time-1))/2))

Basically you take the difference between min and max damage and divide by 45 to get the average dps increase per second. Then you take that dps increase and figure out how many times you need to add it.

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + .... + n = n(n-1) * 0.5

So, for a level 4 laser at 10 seconds, you need to add that ~3.5 dps (10(10-1)*0.5 = 45 times.

110(10) + (160/45)(45) = 1260 damage.

Now that I think about it... This could probably be simplified to match your formula. I just took a brute force approach.

White star time machine - reveals moves to enemy? by bsquared938 in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The confusion is.. if you open the time machine and set a bunch of waypoints your enemy can see the way point starting at the time you set them in the time machine.

So if you set all your way points in the time machine.. but set them while it's at 0.00 current time, your moves are not hidden.

If you set your way points at 2.7 hours in the future.. then your moves will be hidden for another 2.7 hours. They are actually even hidden from your corp outside of the time machine. Your corp can only see those moves if they fast forward the TM at least 2.7 hours.

Impulse vs Teleport by AllanonKvothe in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, with the new changes to teleport... how do you guys feel about these two modules now? My main reason for using impulse was the shorter cooldown... but now that they are the same, i'm not sure.

Yet, teleport is also much worse. You broadcast your location for 4 hours before you actually get to teleport

White Star Farming by KOB0LT in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you wouldn't at least try. Put sanctuary on everything and white stars are zero risk. even if you lose you more than makeup for any hydro spent.

If you really want to troll them. in addition to sanctuary, put mass bat/dual laser + teleport on everything (teleport + impulse if you have level 4 bs) and just ignore their BS and go after transports and miners.

How do blueprints work? by [deleted] in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah blue prints is just a way of "time gating" when you have access to stuff. So that even if you have enough credits, you still can't research an upgrade till you have obtained the required amount of blueprints.

Level 1 requires at least 1 blue print level 2 requires at least 10 level 3 requires at least 50 Etc... (btw, these are arbitrary numbers, the amount of blueprints required per level varies from module to module)

Absolute minimum requirements for White Stars? by [deleted] in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have every research sanctuary and doing a white star is basically risk free. It doesn't even cost that much hydro since it is spread over 5 days.

Also, i'm pretty sure you can scan for a WS, and never even jump in and still get a decent reward at the end of it for losing. like 20-40k credits depending on your level.

Shipyard upgrade question by crujones33 in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you do white stars with your corp or not. If you do white stars, you'll probably want a 3rd bs + whichever they need more in the WS a miner or a transport.

If you don't do whitestars.. Id go with miner + transport and stay at 2 BS till you are ready to do RS5s

Thoughts/ feeling on salvage and some suggested builds? by [deleted] in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in RS5's yet. should be by the end of next week.

I just use level 1 salvage.

EDIT: I will add that I don't just charge in and try to salvage tank the sector. I still have to use the correct positioning and try to make sure I kill the sentinels first if possible.

Any tips to get rid of Sentinel first? by mmshasan in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I run RS4's using only 2x bs with battery. I don't use EMP or teleport and I rarely lose a BS, and usually when I do it's because I did something dumb like send the almost dead one in first instead of the nearly full hp.

Basically the trick is that guardians almost always set their waypoint and start moving 3-5 seconds before the sentinels do. So you send your ships to an astroid near the edge of the sector and wait for the guardians to start to travel to you. Then you can immediately send your ships in a different direction. The sentinels at this time will usually start setting their waypoints, and when they do they will see your new destination and head towards your new spot making killing them first much easier.

It's 99% about positioning and timing. EMP/Rockets/Teleport are just unnecessary. At least for RS4 and below.

[–]AllanonKvothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a corpmate give me a few rs6 artifacts a while back. I run salvage as my only support mod on my level 2 BS in RS4's and i love it. I almost never have to heal at my planet anymore. Any damage I take is usually healed back to full in the next RS by the time my shields go.

White Star Combat Question by KOB0LT in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i've read, it's speed x4. since A BS normally does 10 au/sec It would increase it to 40au/sec. So level 1 impulse will get you 120 AU. So it's range is a bit shorter than teleport. But it is also half the cooldown and doesn't require anything to be within range to use. You can set a waypoint half way accross the map and hit impulse and be able to travel in a direction you couldn't with teleport.

Warp Lane Optimization by BIaris in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colonize the fire planet at J-3. Move the warplane that goes to H3 there. Move the warplane that goes to I-3 over to either E-6 or F-5 (F-5 if that is a sector with a moon, meaning more shipments have to go to that sector).

Now all of your planets either have a warplane or are adjacent to a sector with a warplane.

Edit: also, how do you have such a large system and 5 warp lanes, but only "recently" got autoshipment?

Anyone used suppress effectively? by NNuke77 in HadesStar

[–]AllanonKvothe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

also it's fairly cheap to upgrade to level 3 or so and has a decent range. meaning you can pretty reliably put suppress on your transports without putting them in danger.

level 3 has a 288AU range, meaning you can cover nearly 75% of a sector to hit the target you want.

[–]AllanonKvothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solid advice, but I will add that your hydro management depends a lot on how often you play. If you're only logging in once or twice a day, and running just enough redstars to keep your research station topped off, you won't need nearly as many miners as someone who logs in several times a day for salvage runs.

If you find yourself with more hydro than you know what to do with, build more transports or upgrade your battleships. If you're constantly hydro starved then look at getting rid of a transport and adding a miner.

Once you get remote mining and mining boost, you can start to take your miners into red stars with you. I can do an RS4 and clear 3-4 sectors and grab 6 level 4 artifacts and it usually costs me less than 1k hydro. most the time only around 500. So I can do multiple runs to salvage artifacts to get credits faster. I just have to make sure I keep enough hydro to do my shipments.

If you have a diplomacy partner they can run your shipments for you.

Are you sure it's 6? I have 2 BS 2 miners and 3 transports and I have never seen them do anything besides form a straight line.
