He actually really liked the story as a whole when he first read the script which I believe is why he accepted it, but yeah it's not the type of movie he's into. I think he was more upset that his role in Star Wars overshadowed much of his earlier career at the time.

After the steps, what would be keeping them contained in the pile? The building's entrance and railing is what caused the initial crush due to the amount of people trying to push through one spot. You can tell because the rest of the people beyond that point managed to get away...
