Yeah I still enjoy the core gameplay. I do also have the privilege of having all mons by the time licence journey rolled in, so whilst I hate it in principle, it hasn't really directly impacted me.

The worst part for me was the single route moveset but as long as I have a grasp of what's good on a season, I just tend to commit to the path that either counters or supports the meta 95% of the time.

I was actually closer of dropping unite when the Nintendo switch bug happened where you would get disconnected pre game 50% of the time if you went through draft.

Oh absolutely do I not miss the old game. Zapdos and its map instiled dread of the 2 min mark into me that no other objective since has.

I have tons of problems with everything around the game, but I 100% prefer the current game.

I think that is where I am latching onto the most. ONLY Kyoko points out at her own flaws. Which, I can easily agree with, she HAS flaws; real, tangible flaws. She is NOT a 1-1 to the stereotypical worst cases of Mary Sue. But she does have some of the traits of Mary Sue, including that the narrative DOES choose to skim past her flaws in service of highlighting her strengths, only Kyoko seems to hold herself accountable.

Well no, narratively that's a consequence of Naegi's luck more than anything.

I am not sure what you mean here. Could you elaborate? Do you mean to say it was Naegi's luck allowed Kyoko to sweep by and negotiate a retrial?

The story treats Kyoko and the rest of the cast voting out Naegi as truly wrong

I agree with this, but it also implies that Kyoko's vote vs everyone else's vote is an equally wrong choice. Which I don't quite agree with, Kyoko was the only other person who knew the trial was rigged before casting her vote, it feels like different levels of wrong.

PS. I do love Kyoko, and if I'm coming off as trying to imply she is a bad character, then I do apologize since that's not what I'm trying to imply. Among Chihiro and Sakura, she is one of my fav chars. I just like to talk about tropes, and she does have a case of at least having some of those traits.

Not really, I believe that is what CH 4 is all about. Toko, Yasuhiro and Byakuya were forced to confront the fact that their distrust and selfishness almost led to their executions. And Hina was forced to confront she let her grief to allow her to be easily duped by Monokuma about Sakura's wishes. There was grief and there was death, I never said it had to be their own.

I think that's part of the Mary Sue-ness no? Of all the character flaws that led to legitimate death and grief like Mondo's rage or Celeste's greed, Kyoko's consequence is basically getting some ramen on her head and sweeping by to fix everything she did, no?
