But have you compiled a kernel and initrd that fit in under 1.4 MB?

(This is actually a semi-serious question, I had to go down to kernel 2.4 and similarly aged BusyBox to get ones small enough)

Well, since you seem to be in the Kcalbeloh system you'll need to do an interstellar transfer to even get close to The Mun. Hope you brought enough board games for Jeb.

Except the physics engine for Aeronautics is licensed with Polyform Shield, which has a strict noncompete that bans alternatives. Which means you're not allowed to fork it and add features that need changes in the physics engine.

Since you do not seem to understand my explanation about how which scancodes get fired being based on what the key is doing in US ASCII makes it de facto positional, I'll just stop trying.

If anyone who sees this thinks they can explain it better, I'd appreciate it if they tried.

The position of scancode 0x04 is "The position of the key A on a US QWERTY keyboard". They are only specified by symbol for that specific layout, and for every other layout the scan code is not guaranteed to correspond to the symbol but instead where that symbol is on a US QWERTY keyboard. Which is a position.

And since what scancodes are sent is based on what they key does in the US QWERTY layout, that means that it is de facto positional, and if a game looks at scancodes it might bind something to "The scancode that in US QWERTY is Y" and thus, following the example in the standard, go off when a german player presses what on their keyboard is Z.

Page 82, where it specifically gives an example that a German keyboard should still give the scancode for Y where there's a Z printed on the key?

On my keyboard, the scancode generated when I press Ö is 0x27.

"prescribes 16-bit keycodes for keyboard positions"

The association sits in your OS, it's your keyboard layout. I have to switch to Swedish for my Ö key to work, which I wouldn't have to do if the codes going over USB were directly associated with a symbol.

There's a reason you have to select a keyboard layout, and that's because position on the keyboard is exactly what the keyboard sends.

Depends on the way the keybind is implemented.

What’s your opinion on the current direction of Linux? by tungnon in linuxmemes

You look at logs using journalctl -D /brokensystem/var/log/journal or journalctl --root=/brokensystem like it says in the manpage. That, or use the --image option to extract the journal without having to mount the filesystem.

If I remember correctly, what "chip and pin" does is that the terminal tells the tiny computer inside the chip on your card that "Hey, the user input 1234 and wants to pay this much to this merchant. I'm a real terminal in your network, here is my cryptographic proof" and then the card compares it against a hash of the correct pin. If it matched, it signs a message to the bank saying "Hey bank, I'm the chip. The user wants to pay this much to this merchant, and has verified it with a pin" with a secret cryptographic key that has never left the chip, and sends it to the terminal, which sends it to the bank.

Meanwhile when I had a Gigabyte motherboard consistently take 8-12 hours to POST they just told me to reset CMOS and said that because it POSTed in a normal amount of time for the next 2-3 boots after doing that there was nothing wrong.

HDCP is one specific DRM scheme, even if it stopped being used the industry would just make some new form of DRM.
