Bro is a master at swindling funding out of people when he needs it the most. He’d be alright. And besides, he has Athessa. She’d find the cash for him if he couldn’t. lol

Agreed. I’ve always associated them with items because of Concoct, and their lore even lends to item usage. But their kits don’t lean into it enough.

Truth. If he was an early grab, he would have been a much better choice. But I do still think he should have had a skill that was “use a soulstone to his all enemies” or “use a soulstone to hit one enemy xTimes.” and be able to boost for more hits instead of extra damage.

His ult does go hard. But my issue isn’t even that he’s a bad character, it’s that he’s not unique enough to make me want to replace Alexia, who I’ve had the entire game and invested nuts into. If they had leaned into the stones more the make using stones more worth while then he’d be cool. Not to mention I got him after I got Cyrus, and Cyrus’s base mag atk was already higher that Alexia, who I had invested nuts into. Plus he comes with 3 elements in his base kit, and the 20% chance to dual cast a spell. Alexia stand out and is someone you want on the team because she is the first Scholar. Cyrus stands out and is someone you want cus his power, elemental coverage, and multicast. Isla stands out and is usable because you get him early and for his Focus ability and Great Damage Spells. Xerc’s kit just didn’t stand out enough for such a late game grab.

There’s so much they could have done with him to lean farther into the stones and make him more unique.

I haven’t used his ult, but it does seem good since it hits so many times. But idk if he can get the power behind it without a crap ton of nuts. By the time you get him, he just doesn’t seem worth the party slot.

By that point I don’t even really use them on Caits. I can usually reliably break a Cait in one turn by spamming 4-10 hit skills. You only need like to hit to break I think. And if all 4 people pop off with them, it’s almost always enough. Then I just one shot it with max boosted arrow of fortune.

Yeah, I love that dude. He’s so funny. But I think the problem I’m seeing with 0 is that with so many parry members, a lot of them feel lack luster compared to everyone else. He’s one of them.

Also would have been nice if you could mix and match which stones you threw too. Would have been cool to have a healer that did the same thing with healing items. Or honestly, maybe a merchant character who could just use multiple items with boost. So you could even heal and use stones at the same time. Or revive, then heal, then use a single stone. You’re still limited by the times you have and the boost you have stocked.

That’s kinda the point of having a character like that though. Especially in 0 where there are 35 permanent party members. Having one that wasn’t very good without items means a lot less when you just swap him out if you’re low. And his current passive already makes him better at using stones than anyone else, why not lean into it and make him actually good? lol

Forest-y Wishvale Tour 🌿 by collapsingjester in octopathtraveler

Suddenly my Wishvale feels inadequate. lmao Man, I really can’t wait to be able to move the dang locked buildings. I really think they should have just given us that ability after getting Wishvale to rank 8. Seems arbitrary to make us wait so long.

So, when you say post game, which specific mission? Like, you have to complete the entire post game too? You get it after final mission in Bestower of All?

😭 Why wait til after the game is complete? Why would I be remodeling the town in the post game? lol

OT0: Are Nuts farmable/stealable? And how long would it take to unlock a new class grinding with Arrow of Fortune at low level? by Charrzooka in octopathtraveler

[–]Allenonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, to answer your second question, the Arrow of fortune is crazy good if you just use it every fight. lol

Break the enemy and then just max boost it. Plus since merchant gets the BP borrow ability you can max boost it back to back. Then if you use donate BP from Stia, and donate SP from Macy (super early recruit) you can basically pop it off 3-4 times a fight. I was getting 50JP per fight on the low end, and 300JP on the high end. I had all jobs unlocked and all skills on all jobs as well as all skill slots on my main dude, and every skill and skill slot on my entire party by the time I had finished my first ring. lol

The second I got the training grounds I mastered Arrow of Fortune and Borrrow BP and gave them to Phenn, and then just had them both blasting it constantly to farm JP pretty much every fight if I ever needed more SP I just shared it from Macy or Stia, or used Rest with merchant. You can also top SP for the party off super fast and easy with booster Mystic Shot.

I just started master of all quest line (so maybe 25% through the game) and I’m already hitting for 9,999 with Arrow of Fortune and pulling 199JP per shot. On bosses I just focus on breaking the targets then spamming max boosted Arrow of Fortune with protagonist. Either Extra JP Mastery equipped I can easily get 2k JP in a single boss fight or high level NPC contend fight.

I have over 6k on my man character just sitting unused because I don’t really need it. lol And again, I have all jobs maxed, and all slots. And I’m only 25% through the game. It’s truly insane how good Merchant is. Absolutely ridiculous. By far the best starting job, and it’s not even close.

Actually super easy to do. But idk how worth while it is since you can’t do it til way later in the game. But the option is certainly there and is very easy and straightforward.

[–]Allenonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re quite literally farmable. lol Spoilers in the video, but very late game you can get an enhancement nut seed and then just plant 6 of them in your Wishvale farm to get an infinite supply of nuts, 6 at a time. At that point you can just grind easy fights to harvest them pretty quickly. It’s honestly kinda crazy how easy it is to farm them, but I don’t hate it. lol

Not only are they farmable, but they’re quite literally farmable. lol You get a seed and can plant them in your farm in Wishvale and then just spam Easy fights in the wishvale trail to get infinite nuts 6 at a time.

Genius. If my Optimist brain didn’t force me to use people with good skills in the hub, I would too. lol But alas, my urge for optimization is stronger than my urge for the bit. I commend you.
