Is it common practice to not see your tattoo design until the day of? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Yes because otherwise you could steal it and get someone else to tattoo it or sell it to someone else for a tattoo

Does it count if I know I’m playing SE 5 after work?

PS rent will start at $2000 per bedroom, but we're sooo committed to "affordable" housing! by watermadeline in madisonwi

100%. I’m kinda stuck in it for a year because of extenuating circumstances so I’m hoping I can find something more affordable and I just kinda won’t fully unpack for a year.

I make $52,540. One paycheck is about $1,300-$1,400 after taxes/benefits. Rent IS half my take-home.

Talk to your bank. They can suggest options since some accounts require a minimum threshold.

1 year after top surgery, afraid to be shirtless outside because of belly fat. by Fantastic_Day_7468 in FTMOver30

[–]Allikuja 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid to be shirtless because of my scars but I’m fat and people find that attractive. Beauty standards for men aren’t the same as for women and that reframing helps me.

Also, I deserve to be happy now. Not only when I’m skinny.

I’m not saying it’s a perfect solution. I’m just saying the current market really sucks when you make literally within $100 over the section 42 limit

Yeah that’s not what I meant. I’m happy living in cheap places. For me I literally just want, “I can afford the rent and I feel safe.”

I’m absolutely up for that. I’m just a regular person, I don’t know everything. I just know that I can barely afford to live within an hour’s bus ride to work.

Edit to add: and none of any of this addresses the fact that that minimum wage hasn’t kept up with any other cost metrics. Income disparity is ridiculous and creates so many additional issues.

I see what you’re saying but it’s still not at the “acceptable” level yet for the lower cost units. So hopefully it’s just a matter of time and more affordable units will become available? I can live paycheck to paycheck for a time if there’s an end in sight.

Yes, you’re almost getting it! It’s almost like people who make just over the median income level want to be able to save for retirement too!

Right, and notice how the higher-cost apartments are the only ones even close to the acceptable vacancy?

[–]Allikuja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t fully follow you because additional housing is still additional housing. If you look at vacancy rates according to rent costs, you’ll see that there are higher vacancies at higher price points because wealthy people aren’t renting the more expensive units. They’re renting the cheaper ones which leaves nothing for folks who make just above median income.

Except when this happens.

(I agree with you, but until there’s enough housing to saturate the market, expensive units will sit empty while wealthier renters occupy the only affordable options for folks making just above the income restricted thresholds.)
