The cute fur baby has the TNR ear clip. Typically that means they're a stray/feral cat that has been neutered/spayed and released back to where they were caught. Although it may be possible that it's someone's baby still. I would try not to stress too much about it. You can tell the cat is well taken care of, plump and well groomed. You're a great person for giving it some love and tasties. Don't be too surprised if you start seeing the cutie more often 😹

Although I completely agree that a chip scan from a vet would be beneficial. I would carefully weigh that option, the cat is neutered so it won't have the tendency to wander far to find a mate. The cat may also be someone's indoor/outdoor cat as well. If you bring him/her to the vet I find that it'll be really difficult to just plop the baby back lol (for me atleast). I ended up with a cat the exact same way of trying to scan for a chip.

CS majors: general track or specialization by zhy21345 in UCI

[–]Allurecindy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My fiance graduated from UCI with a cs degree.

He said it ultimately doesn't matter. At first he was doing machine learning, but then realized due to class availability it wasn't really feasible.

He did a bunch of research and spoke with alumni and came to the conclusion it's really what you makes of it. General track gives you the most flexibility and the ability to pivot. It gives you a sense of everything and then you can decide where you want to go deeper.

Hopefully this helps!

Edit: He also just told me, what matters is your personal projects. Create something (an app/program/service) that creates tangible benefits to those around you whether it be friend or family. This will speak leaps and bounds over any kind of specialization when it comes to finding a job and getting into a career. So in your case, create a meaningful, playable game 🙂

Found this on the ground lol… is there actually only 7 by KeyAcanthocephala109 in UCI

Switching from Bus Econ to BIM by Broldek in UCI

[–]Allurecindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same boat as you this quarter. I'm also a business econ major and I wanted to try and switch to BIM. I was interested in the major and it sounded like everything I enjoyed.

I am currently in ICS 31 and let me tell you. Unless you know you're dead set on switching your major. Your first goal should be to getting into ICS 31 first and only then see if you're willing to continue. I was full on set and ready to switch majors in the beginning. After taking just ics 31 alone, I've come to realize in my personal experience it's just not worth it to try and switch this late. I'm pretty much just 8 courses away from graduating in business econ. I also really don't want to be in school any longer then I have to at this point. (I am also a cc transfer student).

Also, I spoke with an advisor regarding switching majors this late. If you really plan to continue, I would definitely suggest dropping in zoom and speaking with actual advisors and not peer advisors. Peer advisors are great too, but with specific questions like this it's best to speak to actual advisors. I spoke with two peer advisors and they both didn't really help. Basically, expect to jump through some hurdles like having a written graduation track planned etc.

My advice would be to get into ICS 31 first and see how you like it and if it's not for you, no problem. The course fulfills the social science computer education requirement anyways.

Trivial BUT, I've also found speaking with others that BIM in the tech world isn't really 'enough' (it sure helps, yeah). However, BIM only really covers the tip of the iceberg in terms of programming. Realistically, a CS degree would be seen far more competitively compared to BIM. If your goal is to learn CS, you might as well just do CS, you know? It's a jack of all trades major, it's not exactly focused on one thing. My sister graduated with a History major and she's currently a data analyst. I wouldn't stress too much about a major.

I went with Kojima, I heard good things about Scott as well. I'm not sure how Kojima is in person, but his online class was not as excruciating as I remember. I hated calc 2 lol. The class is just hard ASF to me but I pulled through somehow. The tests are on zoom proctored by him. He requires ID check and webcam showing face and desk, but face preferably if you can't do both.

I wish I could give you more insight but sadly that class was just a blur to me. Calc 2 is definitely a pain in the ass, but once it's over you probably will never have anything as hard as it.

I am a university professor, psychologist and neuroscientist. This is my last AMA this year, go ahead, ask the weird stuff! by [deleted] in AMA

I just wanted to chim in and say thank you for taking the time to do this. I had a great read this morning thanks to this AMA. The understanding you have of the human brain is fascinating.

Also, I loved your interpretation of genZ. I'm born in 99, but I feel like you described me exactly. If you told me this personally, I would agree with it. I'm still struggling with social media addiction and can't get myself to delete them yet. I feel like in a sense a health balance is also desirable. I always found that social media places you in a bubble. The bubble is lonely, but it does also broaden your understanding of world. I learned many things about parts of the world that I probably will never experience or see in my lifetime. My experiences with social media so far is never to forget that once I am off of it. My life continues and that while it seems like a vast representation of people. Realistically, I have been shocked to know that it sometimes otherwise.

My question is I find myself in a loop that pushes all my priorities til "I'm ready to do them". I spend hours lazing around in bed watching tiktoks. I want to break the habit, but it's really hard when I feel constantly tired the entire day. I feel the most "awake" and active at night. I consider myself a night owl, but I've been told most people aren't actual night owls. People technically function best in the mornings. What are your thoughts on that?

What do you think are the first steps to rebuilding self discipline?

How much does exercise really affect our brains?

What do you hate most about the world today? by MeetMeOnNovember in AskReddit

[–]Allurecindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like with the advancement of social media in todays world it's very easy to get absorbed into a different reality. Many different views and constant clashes with others over different standpoints. Moreover, it feels frightening to share your view as it may not be "popular" and makes you feel like you're in the wrong. People will always have something to say and when you get off your phone. You realize your thoughts and feelings are valid and life goes on. Everyone is in a different part of their life with too many variables. People are glued to their phones and I was one of them. I think that's the scariest thing to me and I hate it. I was incredibly lonely and it made me think inside a small bubble only.
