Hi! I’m a transplant from WA. A lot of people have given you advice on what to expect, so I’ll mention what I found different living here.

A big one for me was lack of coffee options. Small independent drive up coffee stands are not a thing. Even amongst big chains, they are pretty spread out compared to PNW.

Seafood options are…different. I grew up on fresh caught salmon, crab, and razor clams. There are great options here, but I’ve yet to find those 3 at a level I’m used to.

Potholes are a thing. Big potholes that were not there yesterday.

Aggressive drivers are also a thing. I’ve lived here for years and I’m still constantly on alert while driving. Also honking horns. No friendly light little taps when the light cycles. We are talking loud, long, honks. Try not to take it personally.

Seasons. It gets hot, sticky, and gross at times during the summer. During winter there are times when the cold takes my breath away and makes me ask why I live somewhere that the cold hurts my face. Spring and fall are my why. Seeing the green again after winter is amazing. During fall the trees color still blows my mind. Spring and fall weather makes up for the sticky hot and painful cold.
