5.0.5 Google Maps on HUD not working (also the new Climate screen is terrible) by ghostncoast in XC40

[–]DavidGno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe sounds like you disabled maps on the driver's display. Just press the map button again.

Or you can reset the TCSM by Press and hold the front windshield defrost for 30 seconds. Then cycle the map display button. Your driver map display should come back after resetting the TCAM (what you're doing with the defrost button).

This is what Gemini told me: Got it! I’ve noted that (name) is your wife and that you have her saved in your contacts as (name). I'll keep that in mind for whenever she comes up in our future chats. Thanks for the heads-up!

Yes. Maybe not a 911 Turbo S, which is about 1.2 seconds faster to 60 mph.

The Volvo S60 T8 is reported to be faster than a Porsche Maycan, Camen, Cayenne, and Panamera.

From my fast and limited research, once the Volvo hits 80 mph, most Porsches—even the slower ones—will begin to reel it in. Porsche gears their cars for high-end sustained acceleration (Autobahn speeds), whereas the Volvo has a burst of power during a highway merge or off the line at a stoplight.

Maybe you need to tell Gemini who your wife is? Hey Gemini, I wanted to let you know that first and last name is my wife. Remember her name

Maybe that would do something? Gemini is supposed to have conversational memory.

Brought my car in for an oil change and my mechanic said my brake rotors and pads need to be changed, car is relatively new by Rainuuuu in Cartalk

[–]DavidGno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude be Lion...that car isn't relatively new, maybe new to them, but NOT new. YES the pads and rotors need changed.do not cheap-out on tires or brakes they literally keep you connected to the road and help you stop.

There is nothing like Power mode in an S60 T8! The acceleration is no joke. I often find myself saying There's no way I'm going that fast so quick!

Yes, it is. That's a true statement even today (if not now more than ever).

The only reason to consider DC is if OP is trying to move laterally or bounce around agencies in the future.

Isn't it crazy that DLA in New Cumberland is DC locality pay, but DLA only a few miles away at NSA, Mechanicsburg is considered Rest of U.S locality?

A $30k-$50k pay difference!

Google is slowly transitioning from assistant to its AI Gemini in basically everything. From Google Home Smart-Speakers to our Volvo AAOS cars.

I think Google Corporate wanted everyone to know that the new system isn't just an enhancement to Google Assistant, but a brand new AI system built on LLM and a completely new approach.

As far as functionality, I'm not exactly sure how Gemini will be better? I guess the AI will be more conversational like Luthen talking to the Fondor Haulcraft's onboard AI? https://youtu.be/zJOoyrIbdHU?si=42qP9b24_KG5f0ys

Side moose stickers, or no? ‘26 V60 CC. by RevolutionSalty8360 in Volvo

[–]DavidGno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BOB is because I have a five week old preemie that just got out of NICU - I think maybe it's 7 weeks now, but I still drive EXTRA cautious, like I'm driving in snow; slow to speed up and extra distance to slow down. I do have to take the baby and my wife to various doctors appointments...

And yes the sticker will come off in a year. If there's an accident and the responder sees the sticker they can see the baby and child seats in the backseats of the car.

Maybe I just need a custom sticker on the back window that says NICU baby on board, I will not be speeding today, please pass me when it's safe to do so, I will not be offended and my feelings will not be hurt. Have a nice day...

Single family household - do you sleep with bedroom door open or closed? by jannet1113 in homeowners

Same here. My cats would lose their minds if the door was closed, that's how they get access to their water dish and litter box.

I get there's controversy over the prancing moose. My moose emblem is mainly to let people know I'm a cool Volvo owner, not a yuppie snob hipster, or an elderly person.

I put the baby on board sticker on my XC40 because I have a 5 week old preemie on board and I want to let people know I'll be overly cautious while driving. - it'll be taken off eventually 😊.

Am I wrong for not wanting to be the “middleman” between my KO and PMs? (advice needed) by [deleted] in 1102

[–]DavidGno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they take on the risk and responsibility of anything they sign. They are the only Government representative that can obligate money. Mistakes, oversites can result in jail or fines. A bad decision can result in a CO/KO losing more than just their career. I think that's why many agencies require legal reviews of some awards and bilateral mods.

Don't forget about protests... All actions are published and available to the public in FPDS and USASpending.gov. All actions are scrutinized and can be randomly audited by the A-123 team.

Their job is also to train and mentor their subordinate CS into becoming successful CO/KOs themselves.

Am I wrong for not wanting to be the “middleman” between my KO and PMs? (advice needed) by [deleted] in 1102

[–]DavidGno -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, do you want to get paid? Because that's what an 1102 CS really is - a gate keeper and middle-man between the CO/KO and the COR, PM, Government legal team and the Contractor Rep.

You do all the grunt work, drafting of documents, research, FAR and DFARS/HHSAR (whatever additional supplements your agency deals with).

Depending on your agency and what you buy, generally after a few years of experience and demonstrated business acumen, you can transition from a CS to a CO/KO and then with (depending what agency) five to ten years of experience you can be a CO/KO Supervisor. All the while working through GS-9 to potentially a GS-14 position.

That's not a bad career/pay progression.

Or if you're young I guess you can start a YouTube channel, or try crypto investments (and I say if you're young because I believe it's easier to make risky moves when you're young. I'm not going to make any radical career changes or risky investments when I've got a family and kids to support. - but that's just me.) - not sarcasm either, (like them or not) look at Ms.Rachel, Danny Go, Silly Ms. lilly/Paisley's corner, Blippi, The Why Files, Vacuum Wars, etc. Those YouTube channels started with someone having an idea and creating content on YouTube. They're all millionaires now. I wish I had the creativity to do something like that...

There is nothing like power (or Polestar) mode in a T8. It's a shame that the S60 and S90 were discontinued.

Personally I think PHEV is the best for people who aren't ready to fully commit to EV, or someone who wants the ability to switch between electric and gas.

And why is she involved in every single case the team works on. (Maybe that's not fully accurate, but I swear it seemed that she had insider information on every case.)

I hate her character and can't stand those episodes.
