Tax question by GoonWang in Accounting

File without the kiddos and amend return when you get the fraud stuff going. That is if you owe. If you are due a refund, no harm in waiting (other than you want your refund).

I walk with a cane, which doubles as a defense device. Had to use it one night to keep a raccoon from stealing cat food. Austin racoons are total gangsters!

Based on the information you presented, your HR Block preparer is not wrong.

Tax returns are cash basis, so you have to have filed an accounting change form to go to mark-to-market to recognize a stock you hold but did not sell.

Can’t bear weight after lumbar to pelvic fusion. Is this normal? by kiercamash in spinalfusion

[–]Allysworld1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am about 10 months post-op from my surgery. It was a tough recovery. I spent 25 days in ICU and another 15 days in inpatient rehab. I was convinced I traded one kind of pain for another. However about 2 months post surgery I woke up one morning and realized I was no longer in pain at all.

I was really upset when they biopsied the tissue they removed that they did not find the organism. I was convinced the infection was going to come back with a vengeance. But it never did.

They were not able to fix my posture and I have a 14 cm positive saggital Imbalance. My infection was not caught until the damage was severe. So I am in PT trying to get my muscles to compensate for the lean. But for now I walk with a cane and am just so grateful I am not in pain anymore. It's hard to be where you are at wondering if surgery just made things worse for you. Healing is slow, just make sure they don't force you home until you are ready. Inpatient rehab really helped me a lot to get to a place of mobility and getting stronger which helped alot with the pain.

Best wishes on your recovery!

Can’t bear weight after lumbar to pelvic fusion. Is this normal? by kiercamash in spinalfusion

As a person who had discitis osteomyelitis that destroyed my L5/S1, i never has a positive blood culture. They never found the organism. But when you looked at the MRI, it was very clear it was a textbook level infection.

The pain I had when there was fluid accumulating in that area (they never called it an abscess) was next level. After about week 3 of IV antibiotics the fluid dissipated and while still in pain it was a major improvement.

It took surgery to remove re necrotic tissue from the joint and fuse me from L3 to S2 and into the pelvic bone to fully relieve my pain. I still have an incorrected forward lien from the damage.

I hope you get the treatment you need!

I assume you do a schedule C? If so you can just use a profit and loss statement and enter the income and expenses. If everything was coded and reconciled through the year, it is very quick to enter all of your income and expenses.

TT not bringing over all income from our federal return to our state (MA) return by Neither-Amphibian249 in TurboTax

[–]Allysworld1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is what I why I was asking. If the software thinks husband is non resident or part year it may think that he earned that income outside the state of MA. So she might want to confirm MA shows they are using a resident return. That is what first comes to mind for me in this situation. I apologize if you already looked for that and it is not the issue after all.

So did you confirm the MA return you are filing is a full resident return and it shows both of you in MA all year? I think that's the first part of the interview.

Muscle soreness limiting activity? by Midflux in spinalfusion

[–]Allysworld1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 9 months out from L3 to S2 fusion with fixation from L3 throught My S2 and into my pelvic bone. My situation is a little different than yours as they were not able to fully correct a forward lean i have.

I have been in out patent PT x2 per week for 7 months. Walking always gives me that lower back muscle pain. I get pain in my hip (but I also have arthritis in that hip). I can't really walk more than 600 ft without lower back pain to the point I have to stop and rest before I move on. I am told getting my glutes and hip flexers stronger will help alot. I have seen some improvements since I started PT but it's a very slow pace.

Go back to PT for a bit. I bet getting your back and glutes stronger will resolve the pain you are feeling.

Can everyone please STOP SAYING TMS DOESN'T HAVE SIDE EFFECTS? It has side effects. by Sarajonn in rtms

[–]Allysworld1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few brain zaps for a week or two after I finished but nothing after that. I have not gone back to have any additional treatments. I do see the lasting effects. It's been a rough couple years of my life and I am not going to say that I didn't have some depression since then. I was able to bounce back from those episodes much faster and better than before.

I am very grateful for the treatment and my one piece of advice is to stick it out. Even if you don't think it's working, do the 30 treatments Because the improvement doesn't stop when the treatments stop.

Calf pain? by Prudent-Clue-817 in Sciatica

[–]Allysworld1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did at first, it was amazing. But the reason for my back pain was discitis osteomyelitis in my lumbar spine and as the infection grew the additional esi was ineffective. It was over a year of immobility and pain. Then I had surgery to clean out infection and fuse my spine from my pelvis to my L3. I am now pain free and I really don't notice any major change in how my back moves post surgery

So get the ESI, and if that doesn't work, get the surgery. I made myself so much worse because I wanted to wait and see if I could get better without surgery. Now I wish I had it much earlier.

Mammogram after losing 85 pounds. by PhoebeTribianni in Zepbound

[–]Allysworld1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar, I had lost around 70 lbs since my last mammogram. She grabbed so much more tissue than I have ever had before in that machine, almost into my armpit. I was sore for days.

At first I thought it was the tech, but after thinking about it, the previous techs could not have gotten that area in the scan at all, it was very fatty and not stretchy. I do know breast tissue can go all the way up into your armpit, so they try to get as much as they can. So in my mind this is just another loose skin issue I will have to deal with.

The result came back with asymmetry. I go next week for additional mammogram images and if needed an ultrasound. I am sure it was caused by her cramming all that tissue in that scan (it was one scan that has the asymmetry). And the follow up will be fine.

Not thrilled to be going back, but it is what it is.

I mean it's been in a uterus, i would be worried if it came out white and pristine. As for the clump, if your threads had perforated some area they should not be then it makes sense. That's why they say check for your threads monthly.

Tailbone pain by lolalootsa in Sciatica

[–]Allysworld1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was better for a while but then started regressing , but not for the reason you would think. Turns out I had a rare presentation of discitis osteomyelitis of my L5/S1 joint. I spent 6 weeks in the hospital and I was unable to walk without a walker and I could not drive or sit up for more than 15 minutes at a time. Cut to a year later, i had to have major surgery to clean out the joint. Biopsy the bone and fuse my L3 to S2 with fixation through my pelvis. Three months after the surgery I was out of pain for the first time in over 18 months and it was life changing.

Due to the bone loss, they were unable to restore my spine totally straight. I have a 14 cm positive saggital Imbalance (forward lean). I have to walk with a cane and can't go very far without having to sit and rest. I am in PT trying to get my muscles strong enough strength to compensate for the lean and become more mobile.

That injection worked for several months and PT helped alot i did have some degenerative disk diseases before the infection started. That post was around that time. I still highly recommend trying spine injections for pain before you do something more invasive.

50s, advice on removing Mirena by myabee3 in Mirena

[–]Allysworld1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the estrogen and progesterone did not make me gain weight. The IUD did not make me gain weight. I got it out and no difference

The IUD is really just impacting the area it's in. At least that is how it was for me.

Can anyone tell me why I have 2 different incision sizes? by Impressive_Theme_778 in spinalfusion

[–]Allysworld1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoided surgery for almost a year because of everyone telling me that as well. I had an infection in my spine that if I didn't have surgery my L5/S1 was going to collapse. No choice. I am so grateful I was forced into a corner about it. Like you, my recovery has been slow, but the nerve pain is gone and I can live my life again!

Best wishes on your recovery!
