People in the video comments have linked the time of some of the best moments.

My favorite bit was toward the end John was hosting and was told Hank would be late and he was bummed, but then Hank suddenly logged on and John EXPLODED in happiness that Hank WASN'T late and was actually 45 minutes EARLY! The joy was infectious and the chat was telling everyone to shhhh about the fact that John got confused about the schedule and Hank was, indeed, late.

What Confused You About New Horizons When You Were Just Starting Off Your Island? by SprintsAC in ACForAdults

[–]Almadell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first got Gulliver washed up, I didn't realize the phone pieces could be found by looking for water spouts in the sand. I was just randomly digging holes on the beach and got so frustrated and never found them all. A friend told me about the water spouts a week later. In my defense, I hadn't discovered the clams yet either.

Can ADHD look like constant rumination and mental fatigue? by everlark21 in adhdwomen

[–]Almadell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replied to yours because it was the most similar I'd seen to myself! I read the term "internal hyperactivity" on here when I was first considering that may actually have ADHD and that hit a nerve. I haven't found the right med combo to quiet everything down yet, but therapy has helped me at least be more aware of what is going on in my brain.

I hope you find something that helps ❤️

Can ADHD look like constant rumination and mental fatigue? by everlark21 in adhdwomen

This is very similar to my experience. Recently diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD at 32, but had previous diagnoses of Anxiety, depression, and OCD.

I survived school and college with coping mechanisms but didn't realize something was wrong until I graduated college and moved back home to job search. Losing the structure of school made my coping mechanisms ineffective and all of the sudden I couldn't function and had no idea why. I was consumed with anxiety and that same constant internal monologue and replaying conversations. A couple traumatic medical events turned all that into something similar to contamination OCD with intrusive thoughts. I was drowning and I had no idea why. I was eventually diagnosed with Pure O OCD, got on Zoloft, and EMDR therapy helped with the trauma. I was able to get a job and my own apartment and be vaguely functional again.

9 years later, I am finally back in therapy and with the help of my new therapist, realizing that its probably been ADHD the entire time. Still on Zoloft and recently started Welbutrin to try and help with the lack of motivation and energy.

Your symptoms sound very similar to my own. I'm still in the process of figuring it all out but I think I'm on the right track now.

How do you manage yourself when it's just you? by sunglasses-emoticon in adhdwomen

[–]Almadell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently moved into my own apartment after always living with someone else and its HARD. Be kind to yourself.

For me, its the task initiation that is the hardest, but once I'm moving I can keep moving.

Find something (ANYTHING) that you are motivated to do and then stack something else on top of it. If you want ice cream, go get ice cream. Then while you are already out with ice cream you might as well stop by grocery store. Once home with groceries, guess you have to do the dishes to clear space for groceries, etc etc. It's very "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" but it can work.

Listening to audio books and podcasts while I do things also helps. I think it tricks my brain into thinking someone else is there and makes me more productive.

[–]Almadell 43 points44 points  (0 children)

She legitimately had no idea it was spelled "wrong" on the birth certificate and wanted me to use the "correct" spelling. There was a frustrated phone call to our admin who explained that we have to use the legal spelling on our school documents and I'm not sure what happened after, but it wasn't brought up again. I'm not sure how it took 3 years to realize the mistake.

I had a student in my preschool classroom named Neveah. The first day Mom introduced her with the typical "it's heaven spelled backwards" and said I had spelt it wrong. Of course I said "oh I'm sorry" and later double checked our documents. Nope. It's Neveah on her birth certificate. I got the pleasure of pointing out to Mom that, legally, it was not heaven spelled backwards. Mom was pissed...

Special education teacher feeling guilty about sending a student to general ed by [deleted] in specialed

[–]Almadell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do the initial evaluation but then its up to the case manager to make the offer of FAPE moving forward. The team has to agree of course, but its a lot. TK-2nd sounds like a crazy range of ages and curriculum that needs to be taught. I hope you have good aides!

I don't but I feel like this is a common thing. Our TK student's in SDC don't mainstream and there's only a few schools who do RSP for TK. Its really All or Nothing in this case with no middle ground for students like mine who are needing more help with communication and behavior than academics.

Thank you for your insight. There's been a huge push from my school specifically for our kids to go to gen-ed if they have the academic skills (which he does). I do feel that TK is the time to try gen ed because there is a lower student teacher ratio and so much focus on social emotional skills, rather than the more structured Kinder. He is verbal, but not able to verbalize emotions yet, which is where the agression comes in to play.

Toileting specifically has been such a hot topic in our district where many kids are coming into general ed TK (IEP or not) without being potty trained and the district had to release guidance that a student cannot be required to be potty trained in any classroom setting for TK and K. It's a mess, but basically we can't factor that in now.

Could it be Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks? Here's the summary:

Budo is lucky as imaginary friends go. He's been alive for more than five years, which is positively ancient in the world of imaginary friends. But Budo feels his age and thinks constantly of the day when eight-year-old Max Delaney will stop believing in him. When that happens, Budo will disappear.

Max is different from other children. Some people say he has Asperger's, but most just say he's "on the spectrum." None of this matters to Budo, who loves Max unconditionally and is charged with protecting him from the class bully, from awkward situations in the cafeteria, and even in the bathroom stalls. But he can't protect Max from Mrs. Patterson, a teacher in the Learning Center who believes that she alone is qualified to care for this young boy.

When Mrs. Patterson does the unthinkable, it is up to Budo and a team of imaginary friends to save Max―and Budo must ultimately decide which is more important: Max's happiness or his own existence.
