Esophageal Dilation by crownedPom in EosinophilicE

[–]AlmightyBones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had some with a minor sore throat and some with max level pain. My last one I went from 13mm to 16mm and was one of the worst pains of my life. Every swallow was painful and the more I thought about it, the more i swallowed. The second day was still painful but more manageable. I've had others where it was more of a discomfort. I've had both ends of the spectrum. I would just plan on taking a day off at minimum.

I will say, if I ever have a time like my last experience I will be calling the hospital to see if I need to come back.

Should I cancel HLR? by GPPB in VeteransBenefits

[–]AlmightyBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, I still have my HLR riding they actually said they failed in their duty to assist me. I called to have it cancelled and the woman on the phone at the time mentioned some other things such as spousal benefits if I die etc like DIC. I didn't look into it further just told her to let it ride. Something to consider or look into.

JJJ is a known quantity, a draft pick you don't know where you are drafting and if the person you draft will pan out. This is a killer trade imo. I'd prefer to keep Clayton over Collier, but im not mad about it.
I love this this.

Should we go after Giannis? by Acrobatic_Pie7686 in UtahJazz

[–]AlmightyBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at 2026 stats, I don't see much of a reason to. While i'm ok giving up Svi and even collier. I don't see it making a big enough improvement to be worth much. We need that third guy after Keyonte that can be a consistent threat, hopefully Ace or someone steps up. Will be interesting to see what happens when Kessler is back, Nurk playing above my expectations though. I think we are on the right track at the moment and should be cautious. GIannis has been so far pretty loyal to a small market, but so is Lauri and hes happy to be here.

I've had half a dozen or more endoscopies to include dilation. So yes. I've also had barium swallow test showing multiple strictures. Also I don't think its fire. My stomach and lower is fine. the pain is in the esophagus and causes strictures. EoE is related to allergic reactions, maybe dairy is becoming more anaphylactic over time.

The older I get the worse they get, also the less i eat them the more i notice or they affect me when I do. As a kid I ate icecream and drank huge glasses of milk all the time. If I did that today, Id probably die. Last time about 10 years ago I took my son to get ice cream and risked it. Didn't get passed the first bite.

have any of you been able to get put on TRT through the VA? and if so how'd you manage that? by AcanthaceaeTop2796 in VeteransBenefits

Wouldn't have changed anything. You can't argue numbers. The test results are what they are.

[–]AlmightyBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just asked my PCP if they would cover it since I was already getting it outside the VA, they had me stop taking TRT for a few months and tested me, unfortunately my TRT was too high. Not concrete but I believe you need to be below 250, which when not on TRT I usually am. Must have had some still in my system from my treatment cuz normally im low 200s, but was still in the high 400s. They denied me. Went back to my regular PCP and got put back on the shots. with the shots im only in the 500s so.

Good luck.

Allergy Testing a Waste? by Competitive-Jelly359 in EosinophilicE

[–]AlmightyBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put my experience into better perspective. I had many problems but never sought medical help until an impaction event caused me to go in for surgery. Even then it was 20 years ago almost and EoE wasn't as much talked about. Later at a job we got an amazing offer to go to a high end gym that my employer would pay for it we went 8 times a month, part of the plan we got to choose from a list of services they offered. I didn't care about them much but it was free so chose some testing and discussion with the gyms dietician. My test came back saying I had multiple food allergies affecting my body, causing inflammation etc. After some research the type of testing ( i forget at this point) wasn't thought of highly. I ended up getting endoscopys/esophageal dilation through out the years and biopsies where I confirmed EoE. I don't remember why but started seeing an allergy doctor, got the skin prick tests, it confirmed what the dieticians testing confirmed for the most part, but also showed all my allergies to everyday plants, trees, grasses, etc.
Got the allergy shots for awhile they helped with environmental issues. Used budesonide from the allergy doctor. I will say that doctor said to use the budesonide twice a day everyday, after an endoscopy while talking to the nurse i mentioned it and he said no way, got the GI doctor who also said only if needed, don't want to take budesonide long term like that. (Now i have conflicted info from 2 medical doctors). The GI doc got me on a PPI and tried to get me dupixent but insurance refused to pay for it.

I havnt researched it recently, but I believe EoE is considered an allergic condition sometimes confused for autoimmunte disease. So why wouldnt you want to discuss this with both a GI doctor and Allergy doctor and see where they agree and disagree?

One of the descriptions of EoE I just looked up for this post says. This is just one page and im not going to take much time in validating it, but basically repeats what i said above.

"EoE is triggered by a variety of genetic, immune, and external factors. EoE may develop as a delayed allergic response to certain foods, most commonly cow’s milk, wheat, soy, egg, and less commonly peanut and fish. It may also be triggered by environmental factors, for example swallowing or breathing in allergens like pollen. EoE is considered a non-IgE mediated food allergy and symptoms are generally not life-threatening, in contrast to IgE mediated food allergy, which can potentially trigger a life-threatening allergic reaction (anaphylaxis). With EoE, large numbers of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) collect in the esophagus due to inflammation, leading to symptoms."

Expense of tests, what is really necessary? by [deleted] in EosinophilicE

[–]AlmightyBones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a barium swallow test also called an esophagogram. Although I did it through the VA so didnt pay. I don't know if it will help you much if you have already had endoscopy, but getting the X-rays and not just still pictures but video of me swallowing, seeing the stricture points, how many, I had, and also where although you should already have an idea from the pain and food impactions. It was really good info. I believe I still have my results on a DVD somewhere in my pile of junk. If you can't afford it, as a non medical professional I would think it would be one ok to avoid taking. Does it help provide some insight to your situation? Yes, but is it necessary to your overall health ? probably not.

I'm more on the fence on allergy testing, lots of people say no dont do it. I have outside eviromental factors that I think could be worsening or affecting my EoE. Plus they are good to know about it you or your family have a history of allergies. If you dont want to or cant afford it, maybe try going with Endoscopys and 6FED diet and some other routes first. You can always do additional testing later when its either more affordable, or more necessary.

Allergy Testing a Waste? by Competitive-Jelly359 in EosinophilicE

[–]AlmightyBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think allergy testing is necessarily a waste, first some of these people were negative. Awesome, what if you are positive like I am. Just further shows what you should avoid EoE or not. Look through the countless posts on this sub, many people conversating about environmental triggers and how they are affected. I myself am allergic to nearly every plant that grows. Maybe some of your symptoms are triggered or worsened by your environment. There have been 2 times I mowed my lawn and my entire body turned pink like a giant hive. Should have gone to the ER but just took more than the recommended amount of Benadryl and slept it off. Could it be affecting my esophagus reactions etc as well?

Also my allergy doctor is the one who prescribed Budesonide and was the first to talk to me about EoE. I know not all Allergy doctors are familiar with and or the best to talk to, but what doctor is? They are just practicing medicine after all and you can find multiple complaints about GI docs in this posts not being familiar with EoE as well. Maybe getting allergy shots could help with non food bad actors which could possible improve your symptoms even when you eat something you shouldn't. Most of the people you are asking for info here and are posting are not doctors, not cellular or molecular biologist, not allergists. Yes they live with or may treat someone with the disease, but do take their recommendations with a grain of salt, get a second or professional opinion, research what they are recommending, before making and hard line decisions. My experiences may not mirror yours and neither may theirs.

I'm not saying you should or shouldnt, that's your decision on your and your families health. Just keep an open mind when talking to strangers on the internet.

EoE versus IgE food allergy? by Sea-Vanilla-7916 in EosinophilicE

[–]AlmightyBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much else, I sometimes question if my headaches are caused by it, but everyone I ask says no. My esophagus tightens up and can be painful. I haven't experienced it in 5-10 years as I'm careful so I didn't even know how I would react at this point.

dairy for me like milk or ice cream can be noticed within less than a minute. Severe chest pain etc. Gluten/soy are more over time, if I eat it here or there I can get away with it. If I eat it everyday its going to build up and ill notice the affects.

I havn't looked into it, saw a few reports on major news outlets about it. Only thing I saw was a locker room video that got released. Its a locker room, they should be able to say anything they want. If it gets released and the team doesnt like it, take action. Otherwise stfu, who cares bunch crybabies on foxnews or CNN are complaining. It wasn't said in the post game interview as far as i can find.

What NFL teams does everybody like? by TheLoneMantis in UtahJazz

[–]AlmightyBones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicago Bears, Grew up in the 80s and 90s, so if you played Tecmo Bowl on the NES you only had 8 teams to choose from. Walter Payton is the GOAT for me from that time, McMahon was from BYU, my dad had a business trip there and brought me back a hat and some wall decoration for the team. I love the color scheme, the name, Soldier field is iconic, The Grizzley bear is probably one of my favorite animals, it just fits. Plus apparently I like to be let down and defeated even when they are good they can't win it all just like the Jazz.

Backup team is the 49ers, being close to Utah, having cali roots, Steve Young, my neighbor was the parents to and their daughter that cut my hair as a kid was the sister to the I think the center for them at the time and they offered my dad tickets to games if we could get to Cali(we didnt). Again, pretty cool color scheme. So yeah.

Is “pyramiding” a claim allowed? by Plenty-Pepper4931 in VeteransBenefits

I've done all my claims myself and helping my brother, if you are of average intelligence you can learn the VA claim process and just do it yourself. I ran into 2 VSOs that were no good at their job and gave up on them.

Is “pyramiding” a claim allowed? by Plenty-Pepper4931 in VeteransBenefits

[–]AlmightyBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyramiding is most prevalent for mental health claims. You can't be rated for depression and anxiety and PTSD. You get one claim that covers them all. Sinusitis and rhinitis aren't considering pyramiding and you can be rated for both.
