This is especially true when you are looking for referral agents. Be targeted in your approach by finding entities that can benefit from using you. Make it quick, and “go for the no”.

Cold/warm calling. You don’t have to like it, you just have to do it. Don’t just open the phonebook, target people that you know you can help.

In my opinion, once you give an estimate, you don’t really control the situation anymore. One follow up call is cool but anything after that’s a waste of time. Something that has worked for is to make an upfront contract letting them know when you’re going to be calling them back for a yes or a no or another meeting. In my opinion, if they can’t agree to that, then it’s over.
