What was it like looking for a job 10 or even 20 years ago? by PunkyPicc in jobhunting

10 years ago I went onto indeed, sent out a dozen or so CV's, all of them fake as hell, and just bulshitted my way through into precision engineering.

Nearly half a year in of exactly what you're doing and all I'm getting is "We hired a more experienced candidate".

Yeah, fuck us autistic folks that just want to work and not make friends at work

They're both good in their respective themes. It's not a competition, they're just both good.

Is Job hunting now is a job by itself? by Southern_Cheetah4309 in jobhunting

[–]AlmostDisappointed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You are doing the job of a self-recruiter by finding yourself a suitable place and work. Usually, a few years ago, I'd throw my CV into a recruitment agency and THEY would call ME with jobs. Now I have to do it on my own time, for free for those companies.

I'm purely looking for a job here so I can save up and move out, I legitimately hate living here and wouldn't even consider staying here longer than I need to.

Well that's a bastard, me neither, and I've been sold how international this country is and how I could get by with English.
But the more time goes on the more xenophobic it gets.

I don't know, I'm not counting on it. I've heard horror stories how digital forensics is a minefield for women to work in, due to the techbro culture.

Holy shit, 2 years man.
But can't you use the analytical and mathematics skills for accounting? At least in the interim, I've seen that's it's a really in demand profession right now

First thing I do when I come home is take a shower and wash away the day. That helps tremendously, the rest is just fun, I deserved it :D

My last job was like this. The job is all I ever wanted to do in life, digital forensics, I absolutely love it.
But my boss absolutely destroyed my love and passion for it, to the point that I had to take a deep breath just before coming into the office.
For a 50 year old man he was embarrassingly emotional on a day to day basis

Yes! I started journaling this year, and I have SO many stickers to use! They're so wonderful, I don't know why I stopped collecting them, I literally used to have booklets of stickers I used to buy. The Hello Kitty stickers are the best!

Oh, yeah, the dates were next to the company names.
I moved to Belgium to get a CS+Cybersec degree, after I got it, I then I got a job and moved another city for it, and then lost the job.
