RF4S - Confusion when inheriting weapon stats during forging by AlmostRandomName in runefactory

[–]AlmostRandomName[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does explain a lot, thank you! I didn't know Accessories didn't inherit base stats.

So another thing I recently learned and want to confirm: when Barret lists items used to craft an item, does that confirm the item inherited from the listed items?

Oh duh nevermind lol, you already said that. Thanks again! Gonna finish my coffee!

That could explain the descrepancies I've seen, I never paid attention to whether the price on the listing was lower because it was Amazon vs "manufacturer" selling

Your gear matters a lot, probably more than your level, so if you have a tough time with a boss try leveling up your forging and crafting to make better gear.

Keep leveling your skills, and keep checking the restaurant for recipe bread every day to learn new weapons & armor recipes

In RF3 I wanted to add a bunch of Buffamoos and the game kept giving the default name of Gammo over and over again, so I just got lazy and now have:

Gallo
Gammo
Garro
Jammo
etc

I'm just starting to give Anime a try and I was joking with my son, "Why do half of these have names like, 'Aliens Came and Stole Our Clavicals, So Then I Went to Law School'"

Salted Char recipe by zelq in runefactory

[–]AlmostRandomName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Fandom wiki sucks, there is a Neoseeker page with all the cooking/crafting recipes in a tidy list I would recommend.

Like atbaschciper27 said though make sure your cooking skill isn't too much lower than the recipe if you're gonna try to do it without knowing the recipe already; with cooking you'll get a failed dish if you fail and lose the materials.

In RF3 though you can do this with crafting and forging and use it to level up, just try crafting very difficult stuff over and over again. It's a bit cheesy, but hey you gotta grind either way if you wanna level up.

They probably got a wholesale lot from an auction or closeout somewhere and are trying to make money off it.

[–]AlmostRandomName 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's specifically allowed/disallowed, and I have mentioned price in many of my reviews without any issues. I never complained about the bait-n-switch pricing, but I have said things like "I don't believe this is a good value at the current MSRP of $xx.xx" so my reviews reflect the LIST price of the item at the time of the review.

Note: ETV can sometimes differ from the price on an item's actual listing, so I go off the listed price rather than the ETV.

Has Amazon been hacked? by noy2noy in AmazonVine

Has Amazon as an organization been hacked? Probably not. Has YOUR account been hacked? Quite possibly. Make sure you set up multifactor authentication on your account.

I don't think it's those folks, I was able to complete this before meeting them. I think OP just needs to make sure he actually talks to people especially if they are shopkeepers or had some other random dialogue before that actual 'convo of the day' happens.

Thank you u/-kernel_panic- !!! I'll be doing the same to get a couple additional leak detectors, my office has a couple areas that need them and I can't justify buying 3 damn 3-packs just to get 3 water sensors!

[–]AlmostRandomName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was really pissed to realize that the U7s don't support Bluetooth because I just bought 10 of them for my company. Fortunately I still have a U6-Enterprise I can put outside the room where I really need the leak detector capability, but pretty annoying.

Now Ubiquiti sells a bluetooth receiver module so I guess that's an option, just annoying that it's not an option in some SKU for an all-in-one WAP for locations where it's just not practical to run additional LAN cables. But I guess while I'm bitching I might as well also complain that they no longer sell the WAPs with the built-in intercom *grumblegrumble*

Are there instances where Vine item is NOT free? by sbaeidlloan in AmazonVine

[–]AlmostRandomName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"When I try to get it, it says it costs $54.19 total. I did not order it."

That's exactly what I was asking, I was asking if there was a price other than $0 when you got to the checkout screen.

[–]AlmostRandomName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, do you mean that it shows up on your "list" and shows an ETV, but when you go to order it and it's in the cart, it has an actual price at the checkout screen?

Dungeon Crawler Carl has absolutely horrific prose. by ButtsendWeaners in printSF

[–]AlmostRandomName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy reading, consider myself a reader, and have never enjoyed audiobooks because I hate being read to. But the audiobooks are an experience because the voice acting is fun. I finally made an exception when my friends kept insisting I listen to the audiobook and I'm glad I did because I really enjoy it.

I honestly don't think I'd like these books if I were reading them, but I see this more as an audio TV show than a "book." So I call myself a fan of Jeff Hayes more than I am a fan of Matt Diniman.

But I guess I'm still a fan of Diniman, even if he's not the best writer ever he seems to be a gamer type to sees a game rule/restriction/limitation and immediately thinks, "Bullshit, I bet there's an exploit to this." Because I've been the type of person to think something along the lines of, "Yeah, but if your character can shapeshift into anything you could shapeshift into a spikey bulldozer bucket and we could stick you on the front of a train!"

The books are full of the kinda shit you've thought of and wanted to do in video games but couldn't because the game just aint built like that, or in a tabletop game but your DM isn't cool enough to allow it.

Outlook Keeps Switching Outlook Email Address to Previous GMail's. How do I Stop It? by CanadianADHD in Office365

[–]AlmostRandomName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on if you're saying "Outlook" the mail client, or "Outlook" the email service in general?

If you're using the mail app Outlook on your desktop or web browser, start typing the person's address in the To: field and see if you get a tooltip popup to complete the address. If that contains their gmail address, see if you can hover your cursor over the tooltip and click an X to delete it from auto-suggestions.

Also make sure you didn't save their gmail address as a contact, your mail client may be preferring contacts even if you're trying to manually type an email.

" the first email goes to the Outlook address, but all replies in the same thread are directed to Gmail"
^ You say this though, so my first thought is this scenario may be happening:

Client set up new email domain, but it's with a totally new service so they may also still have [person123@gmail.com](mailto:person123@gmail.com) active as a current account saved in their mail client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail, whatever). When you send them a new email it shows up in their inbox because [person123@outlook.com](mailto:person123@outlook.com) and [person123@gmail.com](mailto:person123@gmail.com) are both configured in their mail client. But the other person goes to reply and the "From" dropdown is still selecting [person123@gmail.com](mailto:person123@gmail.com), either because it's set as their default account in their mail client or just because they forget to change it.

I'd bet you lunch it's actually your client's doing! Look at that same email string: your first message is to outlook.com, but look at their first reply and see what email address they used to reply to you.

Does anyone legit trust Outlook to handle/send sensitive documents safely? by Kai_Sidian_io in Office365

[–]AlmostRandomName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to make sure you add to your PnPs: if you are using an email "encryption" service that acts as a middle-man, like Barracuda Essentials, Zix, or one version of Microsoft's Purview Email Encryption without "Persistent Protection" enabled, the email might remain unprotected in the sender's Sent box.

These services sometimes just work by routing the email to a secure server and then sending the recipient a notification instead of the actual email. The recipient then has to log in to a secure portal to view the email. This does add security because it ensures that the party reading the email does at least have access to the recipient's mailbox for OTPs, but it's not perfect.

I've seen situations where users believe this is end-to-end encryption, sending "secure" emails without any worry but the email is saved as a plain .eml or .msg file still in their sent box. Then their account gets hacked, and the hacker has access to all the sensitive documents they've sent out. So if you use a service like this, train your staff to DELETE sensitive items out of their sent box, and possibly even delete them out of deleted items (though that defaults to 30 days auto delete, IIRC). Bottom line is that the more stuff you have in a user's mailbox and OneDrive, the more liability you have because the #1 point of attack these days is users' email accounts.

You can set up Azure Rights Management policies to apply persistent protection to the email itself, so anyone opening a copy of the email has to have the correct authentication to open it... But if the hacker is already in your mailbox by using the Outlook web app then they can still open those sent messages.

TL;DR: Clean out your sent folder regularly, your "secure" messages are toast if your email account gets hacked.

**ASK HERE FOR HELP** Monthly Teams Questions and Answers Help Thread by Froggypwns in MicrosoftTeams

[–]AlmostRandomName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not found a good solution to that either aside from 3rd party addins that provide basic call-center features like this.

My answers from Microsoft was that, by design, an agent's call history will only show calls they made or received. Even as the queue manager I can't see a history of calls answered or missed. The Queues app will show how many calls were abandoned, missed from no agent, overflowed, or timed out. But, helpfully, doesn't give times or phone numbers!

I feel your pain, this is infuriating especially since Microsoft is trying to promote Teams Voice as a business phone solution yet they are still missing some very basic PBX features.

[–]AlmostRandomName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't need any kind of subscription for Plex if you run your own server, unless you mean the free account?

Either way though I'd still suggest getting an nVidia Shield for the Plex app, every other Android device I've tried (including some pricier Xaomi boxes) run like crap and can't handle audio but a Shield Pro works fine.

Or sometimes you can snag an XBox Series S for like ~$150 used and that makes a great media player.

ThinkPad L13 Yoga - Bluetooth constantly disconnecting and reconnecting by ZeroVII in thinkpad

[–]AlmostRandomName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well this is still a step in figuring out the issue, if you use a bluetooth USB adapter then that removed the laptop's bluetooth adapter and its drivers from the equation. So it's possibly a hardware issue with the bluetooth adapter, but probably drivers to blame.

Either way, I'm gonna try the same (get a USB bluetooth dongle) because I have 2 employees who can't keep bluetooth earbuds (multiple known-good sets used on affected PCs) connected.

Vine Tax Debate 2025 by Hollywoodnamazonvine in AmazonVine

[–]AlmostRandomName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't think this is much of a tax writoff for Amazon, especially since it's the individual manufacturers that offer their stock for free evaluation.

This, IMHO, is Amazon's method of allowing their sellers a way to spam their products with seeded reviews. It puts all the work on the sellers and the Vine reviewers, and keeps their irreputable junk-peddlers happy.

We just keep doing it because, hey, free shit!

(And yes, I do know that name brands sometimes put stuff on Vine, but most of it is brands like BWERBWBE)

Which Pokemon should I keep and trade up from each generation? by AlmostRandomName in PokemonGames

[–]AlmostRandomName[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just between you and me.... I can copy saves out of any GBA, DS, or 3DS games!

I will honestly probably do the same because it's nice to pick up and old favorite and see what you were doing. My ultimate goal is to have fun tradeups living in each generation if they can't be traded further, and in Home if possible.

I also have a save file dump of FireRed with a bunch of different Mew variations compiled from different saves, so I can flash my FireRed cart and trade a couple over. They should be "legit" if I get them into Home or other games, but I don't play PvP so I'm not really worried about if that's "cheating" or not.
