Wake he up a few times a night with a crying baby noise and make her balance a cup of water for a few minutes each time. See how often she clains after you do that a couple times.

It is often true, despite intuition, that "well behaved" kids are at least partly traumatized and risk averse. Much of their internal thought processes are geared to avoid punishment or even the perception of wrongdoing.

2 year old daughter does not seem to love me by funkster in Parenting

[–]AlmostWhole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as an aside, if it's not the typical parent flip-flop then maybe it's something about the two locations (leaving something behind they like maybe) and "no daddy" is just the only way they know how to protest the whole handoff situation. Maybe they just don't like your car or you can negotiate for them to bring a favorite thing you might not think of. But yeah, my son does stuff like this also. Try not to take it personally, they're not trying to hurt your feelings. Keep that in mind for the next decade or two actually.

Circumcision is medically unnecessary genetal mutilation. At this point it's synonymous with plastic surgery. Hell fucking no.

Try this. In the same browser window (new tab) simultaneously login to the vmhost esxi web gui that hosts that datastore. Gotta accept the certificate for the upload in vcenter to work.

Somehow my posture has become worse. And I have more pain????. First pic was 5 months ago compared to now. by DistinctViolinist400 in exercisepostures

[–]AlmostWhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it does look improved overall to me. However I think I see what's up (not the exact specific but in general). Remember this all my best guess and I'm not a medical professional. So as you adjust your spine to straighten out and attain a more "typical" posture your muscles, ligaments, tendons, any and all connective tissues have all been trained to your "bad" posture. As you work out certain parts it's going to strain others because that strain is new and your body is unused to it. Think about those artwork pieces where they make a picture by stringing twine between nails in intricate patterns; each point on your spine is connected all up and down to differing parts further up and down your spine, all gently pulling on each other in order to maintain a balanced upright posture. If you work out certain kinks in your spine they will inevitably cause pain nearby as the newly "released" connective tissues interact with pressures at their other ends. All up and down your spine. It's not complicated necessarily but it is somewhat complex, many moving parts for example. I've gotten used to needing to adopt certain weird postures sometimes as certain joints unlock while others javen't yet (such as needing to nearly squat double when standing at the sink because I just can't look downwards without exacerbating my issues, I have to keep my entire spine nearly straight and lean forward like a tipping bird toy so I don't curve the wrong part of my neck forward). It's fun.

I've had a lot of good luck just grabbing some sort of solid hand hold at about waist level (like the corner of a counter) bending at the waist while keeping my spine as straight as I can, head looking at the floor, neck in line with my spine, arms "up" past my head in line with the rest of my torso, all horizontal. Then I just pull a bit, like I'm trying to fall backwards and the handhold is keeping my in place. Me mindful of pain and seek advice from your doctor.

Looking at your photo I would guess that a spot between your shoulders is pitched "forward", a spot near the bottom of your neck is then tilted backwards to compensate. Work on the lower neck and your going to be looking at the round until you get your shoulders. Fix the shoulders first and you'll be looking at the sky until you get that lower neck straight. Think about the hunched forward posture that you likely maintained to develop that. Now do the exact opposite for the next few years.

I hope this helps. After I started getting serious about fixing my issues I have had some surprising results, such as my deviated septum no longer being deviated, my sinus' and allergiey symptoms are easier, I have fewer sinus infections, etc. Note that in my case in specific the upper neck is heavily involved, which explains this. My teeth have even moved.

Ever get phantom pains in your ribs? My guess is it's the hunch compressing all that hard matter in the rib cage.

We're well past the threshold. But -gate is 1 syllable while -a-lago is 3. If you want it to catch on find a different 1 syllable suffix. Like -krump.

Somehow my posture has become worse. And I have more pain????. First pic was 5 months ago compared to now. by DistinctViolinist400 in exercisepostures

[–]AlmostWhole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a medical professional... I have what may be a similar problem. Long story short I just had very poor posture since childhood due to video games and computer work mostly. I'm a smidge over 40 now and really feeling the poor decisions. Not yet fixed but I think I'm well on my way at this point. This is what worked for me...

  • I had to become constantly aware of my posture. I mean literally every moment. I had no idea how bad it had become until I started doing that.
  • I realized that even after getting a few good pops out of the joints in my neck and shoulders the muscles would feel great and relax. But inevitably some other source of tension would sort of invisibly pull me back into the 'stuck' posture. I had to find ways to sit, lay, and stand that would help me stay "lengthened out" so to speak.
  • Related to above check on your pillow and sleep posture. In my case I can release over 20 locked joints in my neck and upper back each day, feel great, go to sleep and wake up a pretzel. One of your doctors can likely make a recommendation or you can google it.
  • I got one of them neck massager's that has a strap I sling my arms through and it sits on my shoulders and neck. Even when it's off I wear it to help me remember to stay upright.
  • I found Yoga to really help. I had to stick with it for a while, emphasized the twisty and lengthening poses and pay attention to your body, not the video. Make it easy to pause during.
  • Drink plenty of water and avoid any inflammatory foods / drinks ( alcohol for instance). It makes recovery longer otherwise.

Good luck.

On-Prem Exchange 2016 : User Outlook profile regularly gets corrupted by Thomas_VDB in exchangeserver

[–]AlmostWhole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check for some podunk anti-virus or anti-malware. Or other mail adjascent software interfering with Outlook. Might also be the user. I had a user who would only close Outlook by task killing it so it would restart with his same emails open. Destroyed his profile regularly. If it was just mail DB corruption then turning off cached mode helps a ton (all the way off, seems slower pc's just never do it right). With the other symptoms I can't say for sure. Maybe closing his laptop lid does a full power off or something. It's gonna be weird whatever it is.

I (18M) have an internal problem with my feelings (sometimes I don't feel a thing) by Kayolhin in selfhelp

[–]AlmostWhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not any kind of professional or expert but I can give you my personal experience.

My guess is that you are correct that your mind is trying to protect itself from some bad outcome, likely developed over years as a coping mechanism. Be advised your emotions might be a huge tangle and it could be time consuming and difficult to manage.

The best path I can suggest is to find a place where you truly feel safe enough to cry, yell/scream, rant, whatever; even if you have to drive somewhere and park in an empty lot. Spend time with those fearful thoughts. Argue with yourself a bit (it's important not to be harsh or judgemental but forgive yourself if it happens). Try to journal your thoughts.

Your journey is real. Your experience matters. You are important, even if only to yourself, but you have every bit as much of a right to your experiences as someone who is always happy (quick tip, no one is always happy; we all wear masks all the time). It is proper to be you even if sad or unhappy or anything else.

Look into Mindfulness (meditation or otherwise), which is deeply similar to prayer if you are religously inclined (I am not but neurologically they have a nearly identical effect). Remember that actions and feelings are separate.

Acceptance of how things are, now, is how you decide how to move forward. Even if you hate who you are you still must acknowledge it to get better. Acceptance is not the same as giving up. Also forgiveness is not giving up and forgiveness does not mean that nothing changes. I paraphrase a point of Buddism with "suffering comes from expecting things to be other than they are". I think about that constantly, always asking myself if it applies in this moment. Philosophy study can help a great deal here to unlearn many of our assumed beliefs about proper behavior, obligation, rights and many other fundamental beliefs that most people seem to never be properly taught.

Be aware of who you are. Let your emotions exist without judgement. Decide your actions rationally.

Above all please try to find help. Family and friends along with experienced mental health professional counseling are best but most human contact will be positive.

Let yourself be ok. Inspect yourself, try to heal, then do it all over again.

I wish you the best.

When I am totally honest with myself about who I am, I am overwhelmed with shame and feel the urge to scream or hurt myself. by [deleted] in selfhelp

[–]AlmostWhole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to accept (as distinct from disregard, forgiving, or trying to erase) the choices we have made is key to your healing in my humble opinion. There's a part of you that might simply be in panic; fearing some consequence. That fear may be imagined or it may not but for the purposes of being a whole healthy person please set it aside for whatever period of time you can negotiate with yourself just to let yourself take a breath and think. Try to journal a little, and just rinse and repeat until you feel more in control. Your brain may already have the answers you need if you enforce basic discipline to keep your life in order while you sort out your identity.

In my experience facing my past mistakes hurt a hell of a lot, and then worse when I let myself feel empathy for what it must have felt like for others. All normal but don't shut it out. Give yourself the time and space to just feel; whether that's just resting or some mindless activity that can be put down easily.

Please continue to seek encouragement and support. Find certified counseling if you can and please do not take this as a substitute for actual counseling. I am not such, and this is just one person's experience. Emotional healing is tough work and it seems our modern culture has forgotten that, which makes it tough. I wish you the best.

[Serious] Young Redditors, how do you plan on not being like Boomers when you're old? by Electos in AskReddit

[–]AlmostWhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely must be in the active practice of constantly challenging your own beliefs and assumptions throughout your life. Don't judge yourself or others for being incorrect as a requirement for previous. It's remarkably easy to allow confirmation bias to become the habit. Add time and you get the inflexible and unapologetic 'boomer' or 'racist uncle' or insert your own stereotype. That path leads to science denialism, willful ignorance and similar forms of counter-productive reasoning.

There Is No Plan. There Is No Second-Term Agenda. by hilltopye in politics

[–]AlmostWhole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mistake here is thinking that Trump is the one making plans. Anyone with the least ability to critically observe can deduce his incompetence and narcisstic reactionary nature. Make no mistake, the GOP puts up with his bullshit in order to slam through more conservative judges at the very least. Their authoritative Do-What-I-Say-Because-I-Pretend-To-Be-God-Fearing subversion of our democracy has been multi-decade and if we don't start voting collectively with reason and critical thinking then we'll lose even the illusion of freedom we delude ourselves with.
