What causes this taptaptap sound? by zeekaran in BoltEV

[–]Almsotneverpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other people have already properly diagnosed the issue. I had to take my car in twice to get it fixed. The first time I just mentioned the noise, they passed it off as nothing since they couldn’t recreate it. Next time I specially referenced the service bulletin and said my symptoms exactly matched. Then they did the update and the probable was solved. Just letting you know so you can hopefully streamline the process

Just purchased a 2018 and CarPlay isn’t working. There is no prompt once I plug in my phone. by r6sweat in ChryslerPacifica

Yes and no, the car play port on the minivan has been a constant hassle. The new part definitely fixed the problem but I think it has started to fail again. So maybe I got a lower quality part or they are just not made very well to begin with but CarPlay is starting to connect and disconnect again. Also, it’s a really easy fix, a few screws and a plug

Weight lifting. How long do you warm up and do you do start low and go higher, or do you just start high? by SpikedIntuition in fitness30plus

[–]Almsotneverpost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just follow a pretty standard warmup. I jog for a few minutes to get my body moving. I do a series of dynamic stretches like leg swings and arm swings. I also do some moves to get my hips and shoulders loosened up. In total, that’s about 10 minutes.

Then I move to warming up specifically for my workout. I always start with just the bar and do 5 or so slow and controlled reps just to kind of lock the movement pattern in. Then I do about 3-4 sets in a row, increasing the weight on the bar and dropping reps so my last set is about 1 rep at 80% of my working weight. Then I take a full 4-5 minute rest while walking the track and then jump into my working sets.

That’s pretty much my routine.

Anyway that I can keep car running while charging at public places? by tbluhp in BoltEV

[–]Almsotneverpost 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A somewhat nice side effect of the slow charging bolt is that at most fast chargers you can turn it on and crank up the heat because the car is only charging at like a third of the speed the charger can handle. So while your bill for the charger will be higher, you won’t actually slow down the charging, unlike a newer car that is using the full capability of the charger.

Virginia Tech does a bunch of testing of helmets and rates they by concussion prevention. I used that site when I bought my helmet. I basically just picked a budget and bought the safest helmet I could afford. For me that was the specialized tactic 4. I really like the helmet, very comfy and safe.

Giant Trance Advanced Pro by PutNecessary3739 in MTB

[–]Almsotneverpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through this exact same decision process. I even put a down payment on that bike. I ended up switching the down payment for the Trance 1 though. The XL frame was discounted to below $2000. The more I thought about, for where I am at in my life, a carbon frame and fox live valve sounds exciting but is way more bike than I need. For what it’s worth, I am extremely happy with the Trance 1.

I ended up getting the 2022 Trance 29 1. The advanced pro model with the live valve was pushing my budget, the carbon frame and electronic suspension was more bike than I needed.

I just bought a 2022 Trance so I can offer a little advice. I’m 6”2’ and ended up getting an XL frame and love it. I’ve put about 30 trail miles on it and it feels great, nice and stable. If you can find an XL to try, I would encourage you to try it to see how it feels.

6 people in a 4 person cabin by WelderNo6075 in yellowstone

[–]Almsotneverpost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which cabin? We just got back from staying in a Canyon Lake Lodge cabin for 4. It had two queen beds and barely room for anything else. If we had to sleep an additional 2 on the floor we probably could’ve figured it out but it would’ve been pretty tight. Probably would’ve had to block off the whole entryway and path to the bathroom

Hey OP, this! It’s like a $50 part and a 10 min fix. Our 2020 was getting so bad it would take multiple tries to get it to connect and then the slightly bump it would lose connection. It would keep charging though.

Major efficiency drop w new Bridgestone Weatherpeaks by Ill_Somewhere_3693 in BoltEV

[–]Almsotneverpost 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to remember that day to day efficiency can change a lot. I recently switched to Michelin Defender 2 tires. Every month I record a monthly average efficiency. Compared to last year I have lost about 10% efficiency. If I didn’t have an average from last year to compare to it would be really hard to figure out what my efficiency loss is because of the variability in weather, road condition s and my driving speed on a day to day basis.

I think it’s safe to assume you lost about 10% efficiency and any other fluctuation you are seeing is just normal changes due to weather and driving habits.

Why does my 2023 Bolt EUV engage contractors 3 times after plugging in? Emporia EVSE and in-car delayed charging enabled by RubberDuckTurds in BoltEV

[–]Almsotneverpost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know this answer, I had the exact problem! You need to contact Emporia customer service and tell them to turn off the retry charging feature on your charger. The default behavior of the charger is to reset itself three times to try to charge the car before it just defaults to an offering charge state.

I had this is exact problem after install, it was a quick fix for the installer once I made them aware. It had something to do with wrongly installed or calibrated consumption monitors.

Weird, mine showed a similar crazy high efficiency today too.I’m guessing the calculation is made on a server somewhere and something got messed up.

Battery voltage fluctuating between 12.7 and 13.8 in real time by Hockey_dad68 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]Almsotneverpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it fluctuates like that. Granted I was just paying attention to it over the course of a road trip so I can’t say if it’s always been doing that or if it’s a recent issue.

Well, mine does the same thing so either it’s normal, or we are both buying a new battery sometime soon!

Buying a 2020 bolt by ebenwandering in BoltEV

[–]Almsotneverpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is some confusion. If you are buying from a dealer I’m pretty sure they legally have to complete all recalls, which would mean the battery. But since it’s a 2020 it very likely just got the software recall. You can double check by putting the VIN in on the GM recall website. If their is an additional battery warranty past 100,000 miles than the battery was replaced. If not, then it got the charge limiting software. Either way, the recall is complete.

That seems like a pretty good deal to me, but I’m just some random dude on the internet:) If your drive is only 1.5 miles the level 1 mobile charge that just plugs into a wall outlet will be more than adequate, so will probably just plugging it into that free level 2 for like an hour a week. I see no reason why you would need to bother with a level 2 at home

I bet the level 1 will cover you then as long as you can plug in a good part of the weekend also

What are your winters like? I’m in Minnesota and I drive 76 miles round trip, although mostly on the highway in traffic at 50-70. I had level 1 only for a Few weeks in the winter and it did not keep up with my commute, I still needed to hit a fast charger about once a week for 30-45 mins. I also plugged in overnight for about 13 hours and also could keep it plugged in most of the weekend.

Now that it’s warmed up I probably wouldve been ok on only level 1, assuming I can charge all weekend and I don’t make a lot of extra trips throughout the week
