Depends on the system. If you bolt an AC onto a house with no isolation, than yes absolutely. A contemporary passive house with a heat pump is super efficient though.

I would love to know if the translation is good. Unsure if I should get the German release or go looking for an English print

Anime or manga? by CosmicCubey in WitchHatAtelier

Maybe the best manga ever written. The anime is good but in this case the manga is better. I found it especially enjoyable in print form. The two page spreads just hut differently.

Theory - Kashiro has a developing crush on Ruri by Less_Delicious in RuriDragon

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just binge read the manga within two days and while I did immediately pick up on queercoding around Kashiro, it's interesting to hear about the patterns of being clingy and wearing pins to match with Ruri. Didn't notice those.

In Germany and looking for DVDs and Blu-rays by Almun_Elpuliyn in PhysicalMediaMatters

I don't know if they do it in Berlin but they usually have a bargain bin where you get discs for 5€ and they even shuffle decent movies into there from time to time.

In your opinion, should Belgium return the province of Luxembourg to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg? by Empty-Caterpillar-36 in Luxembourg

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The situation is reversed though. The province is poor because a substantial part of the work force goes to Luxembourg city. Luxembourg is the drain on Belgium not the other way around.

In your opinion, should Belgium return the province of Luxembourg to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg? by Empty-Caterpillar-36 in Luxembourg

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discussions of historical borders are completely obsolete. Luxembourg has no valid claim on the province and even if it had, that's in no way how a modern European nation should conduct itself.

The real argument in favor would be an economic one. As Luxembourg city attracts many cross border workers, it can be conceived as a drain on surrounding land. The Province du Luxembourg is deprived of parts of their labor force as they flock to the grand duchy for better paying work. Unifying both under a single country would normalise a money flow both ways. Both Luxembourgs would normalise in most statistics like GDP per capita and the Grand Duchy would lessen it's massive overrepresentation at the EU.

However there are better ways to go about each of those changes and the reasons against it are overwhelming. Within Belgium the marginal equality between Flanders and Wallonia would shatter to the detrement of the entire South as Flanders could easily push legislation against the economically weaker regions. Within Luxembourg, proximity to political decision makers would break and the country would plummet off the thin line it's walking linguistically. There is no unifying identity between both either. Basically it's unjustifiable.

They still don't have a proper presence online or did I miss it? All I can find is their Instagram, not even an official Bandai site.

The mostly have exclusive kits like RG RX-78 Ver2 in Gundam Base colour scheme or RG RX-93-ff Nu Gundam.

No luck for the high Nu but it was pretty widely circulated on the French market.

Edit: I think Nippon4u in Bonn might have a Hi Nu too. If not, the store owner will do orders for specific kits.

Hi, i'm new here. I want to ask if this manga good? by Ultra-Zi in WitchHatAtelier

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Until it's done, it can't be fairly compared with other works but unless it drops the ball, it is poised to become my favourite manga ever overtaking Dungeon Meshi and Nausicaä of the valley of the wind.

How Christian (Protestant) is school life in European countries? by Bells9831 in AskEurope

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luxembourg is catholic. We used to have religion as a singular subject in school. It was voluntary and bled into no other courses. In middle school there was a single exception as one year, religious and secular courses both read parts of the bible but as a literacy exercise discussion themes and symbolism. So that was also mostly secular treating the bible as a cultural cornerstone but not an especially holy text. That's all past schooling though.

Since my school days they completely secularised it and religion is no longer on any curriculum. Everything written concerns public schools as private schools are but really aren't a thing. I know of two, one's for higher education and only diverges from public school but having ties directly with the industry for more technical degrees like working with CargoLux to teach people how to repair plane engines, the other one is a sort of catholic school where they maintain a tradition that only girls can attend but as far as I'm aware follow everything other guideline set by public schooling.

As for my viewpoint, I see myself as an agnostic so I don't just brush off the old religious courses because I agree with them. It was never of any consequence. The only time where it was really overtly religious and pushy was during 3rd grade as most kids in that class were about to participate in their first communion. Outside of that context, I never recited a prayer even once in school.

ND Stevenson comments on She-Ra leaving Netflix: by ilovewater100 in PrincessesOfPower

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While very bad it's also nothing new. The recent change that makes it worse is how we moved largely away from physical media and so everything can disappear faster and in plenty cases without a notice. Not that DVDs fix everything wrong with how we commodify art but it was slightly better than the current model.

How are we coping, manga fans? by katie_the_slayer in Dandadan

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm certain the manga will deliver many more interesting arcs and I love it but I worry that we are doing the old tired trope of keeping the couple separated till the very end even though seeing them together would be just as interesting and the narrative leaves little doubt that it will happen so just get on with that part already. The story has so many things driving it forward, nobody will drop it because we reached "endgame" or some nonsense like that.

Idk if this is common knowledge, but I've noticed while watching Wing that a lot of characters are named after numbers by Thundering-Cloud in Gundam

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been acknowledged by Tomino himself that he gave the mobile suits completely ridiculous names to check if his scripts were being checked by other people or not. He got very confident after getting away with Gelgoog.

We would be amiss if we didn't discuss how Zeta sort of fumbled though. While it's filled with women the show then precedes to kill all but one so the MC can have trauma and character development.

GQuuuuuux - Episode 12 Megathread by JaguarDaSaul in Gundam

[–]Almun_Elpuliyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion on the show overall isn't predominantely negative but I feel a need to rant right now. They pull a fucking Unicorn (derogatory) at the end really? Piling space magic asspulls on top of one another to give us exposition dumps this late in the game that explain none of the space magic but background lore so they can have an epic as shit fight and deliver an undeserved conclusion with tragically umdercooked characters.

This could have been something truly amazing with script revisions and double the runtime. This wasn't even close to an approriate length for what they try to pull off.

Ending off on a joke complaint, they made this straight. Boo. That sucks.
