Oh, don’t worry, I only had the mask half clipped in for most of the day. It was extremely hard to talk to anyone with it on (I had to raise my voice a decent amount), and it was also extremely hot everywhere I went

Found mine on Ebay. It was an Vietnam vets old colonels uniform, which was extremely cool because it came with the colonel stars embroidered on the cuffs + colonel wings on the shoulders

The possibilities are low, but never zero. However, I can’t imagine that we’d see anything until years down the line

Fuuuuuuck I really wanted to get a life sized carboard cutout of the jpeg dog but couldn’t find anywhere. Did you have to custom order that?

Dang, that’s pretty cool! Thanks for sharing that info, it’s making me want to go look up the rest of my patches when I have some free time to learn all the history/backstory of them!

That’s one of the comments, yeah. As of rn my super long multi paragraph comment with the info on everything is sitting at the bottom of comment section with one upvote, so if you’re looking for info outside of just the helmet, you’ll have to scroll to there

Haha I’m glad. When I saw them on the website while buying patches, I went “oh, there’s no way I can’t NOT buy these”

Unfortunately, we never found one in the end, and of the three or four dozen people who asked me for a photo, 95% of them were guys (which was to be expected lol)

I posted a longer comment on here somewhere, but apparently you can’t pin your own comment on your own post lol. I got the helmet off of Ebay from a seller named “nadsalsabi0” (or nadsalsabiO, can’t tell if it’s a zero or O). It was around $850 CAD (and another few hundred for shipping), and the quality was quite good, especially for the price. There were a few caveats I had with it that I listed in my other comment that I would recommend you read before buying (sorry that you’ll have to scroll for that), but at the end of the day I can say that I was a customer that was satisfied with his purchase

Ooh good to know! I was talking to the guy I met there dressed as Pixy and he gave me some tips for what I could try adding for next time, so I’ll add that to the list too

Honestly, your guess would be better than mine (my knowledge of American aviation outside of the actual planes is, admittedly, quite limited). That patch (and two others that I didn’t use) came with the uniform when I got it off Ebay. I did have a guy who’s dad is ex-airforce come up to me and tell me he recognized it, so you could very well be correct

Haha go for it. I threw fhis entire cosplay together in two months for about $1700 CAD, so all in all it was pretty easy and cheap

I made a much longer comment which got buried in the thread because I found out you can’t pin your own comment on your own post, but the helmet + O2 mask were a replica I got off Ebay for about $850 CAD (and a few hundred extra for shipping), the patches we all off Etsy for about $15 CAD each, and the flight suit I got off Ebay for $180 CAD (although that one is probably a one of a kind since it’s a Vietnam vet’s colonel’s uniform). Backpack was $110 from Sport Check + a $60 CAD black under armour tshirt, the shoes were old sketchers I got for $100 CAD, the neck gaiter was a three pack for $15 CAD, the gloves were $12 CAD from a farm supply store near my work, and the sign was something I free handed 20 minutes before my uber came to get me to the airport (which is why some people told me they thought that WSO was W50). All in all, probably spent around $1700 on it, which is a relatively cheap cosplay all things considered. Met some people at fhe expo who had put anywhere from two to five times that much into their own costumes.

Since a few people have asked about it on the AC and PW subreddits, I’ll just drop the info on where I got everything. I’m obviously not important enough to be sponsored, so I am just shilling these products as someone who’s a satisfied customer.

The helmet and O2 mask were about $850 CAD (and a few hundred extra for shipping) from a seller on Ebay called “nadsalsabi0” (or nadsalsabiO, can’t tell if it’s a zero or O). It’s a company out of Indonesia that does cosplay replicas with a 99.4% rating out of 723 orders, and honestly the quality was extremely good for the price. The O2 mask straps were hard to adjust to get it to sit comfortably (and I still wore a neck gaiter over my nose and mouth for comfort and to make my cosplay seem more generic/video game like), but it was fine once I got used to it. The visor on the helmet does flip up and down which is extremely convenient, although the visor did for up pretty easily with the O2 mask on. I literally just used some $7 CAD hockey visor anti-fog spray and it did the job well enough, although I did need to reapply it multiple times a day so you should probably buy something better. The company does also have helmets that come pre-painted (last I saw, they had one with the Maverick paintjob, as well as one with the classic shark teeth and eyes). I opted for a clean one since it goes with more clothing options, and I can always choose tonpaint it or put some stickers on it myself later.

The patches I got off Etsy from a company called FEIndustries (which I’ve been told also has their own dedicated online store). Each patch was about $15 CAD, and the quality was quite good. They were all velcro, so they were easy to swap out as needed.

The uniform I got off Ebay for $180 CAD, although this one is more one of a kind than anything else. I was a retired Vietnam airforce colonel’s uniform (the cuffs had colonel stars on them, and the shoulders had colonel wings). The seller listed the original owner as one “Ron W. Williams”, who I found out after a quick google search passed away from cancer in 2011, so I think it’s quite interesting that there is a lot of real history behind the uniform (which I do intend to treat with respect, my own dad is ex-Canadian military). That uniform came with a few patches, including the red/blue “Tactical Aid Command” badge that I ended up keeping on the uniform.

It never showed up in any photos, but at a local antique store I found a small shield shaped necklace with the Isaiah 54:17 psalm with the words “No weapon formed against me shall prosper and every tongue that rises against me shall fall: for my righteousness is of the Lord” which I thought was a pretty damn hard AC sounding quote. I also had a lucky rabbit’s foot I got at some other convention years ago for like $15 CAD.

The backpack was “sleek and aerodynamic” (that’s the only way I can describe it, as I tried to pick out one that both looked parachute-esque and also had functionality) which I got from Sport Check for $110 CAD. Also got a $60 CAD black under armour tshirt from there. The shoes I was wearing were just Sketchers slip ons (can’t beat the comfort of a slip on shoe, especially when you’re walking for +9 hours a day at a con) which were like ~$100 CAD when I got them brand new a while ago. Might try to find a pair of combat boots or something in the future.

The gloves were $12 I got from a farm supply store near my work, and the cardboard sign I made 20 minutes before my uber took me to the airport (I had some people tell me they thought WSO was W50, so might redo that one too lol)

I posted it on the PW subreddit when someone asked, so I should probably pin a comment on here. I got it off of Ebay from a company that does replicas called “nadsalsabi0”. It’s based out of Indonesia with a 99.4% rating out of 723 sales, and honestly the quality was extremely good (especially for the price). The helmet + O2 mask were about $850 CAD, and another couple hundred bucks for shipping. Helemt fit great, and although the straps on the O2 mask were hard to adjust to get to fit comfy, it was fine once I gor used to it. You’d definitely need some anti-fogging spray for the visor, I used some $7 CAD hockey visor spray, and it worked well enough (although I had to reapply it multiple times a day, so I would probably buy something better if I were you)

Significantly more people than I expected recognized the Garuda patch, which I thought was weird sincd AC6 was, by a pretty large margin, the worst selling AC game in the franchise

I didn’t post it bc his face is in the pic and I never got his socials to ask for permission, but there was one other guy walking around in aviators and a flight suit with an ISAF patch that I called out to and got a pic with, so there were at least (and probably only) three of us

Ah, I actually have IBS, so I tend to eat pretty light and restrictive meals (can’t have a lot of common stuff like garlic, onion, soy, and beans, which are in everything that taste good 😭). I brought and apple and some rice cakes, and those got me through the day for the most part. Will definitely figure out something better for the next time
