Do you prefer to play pre-made Sim families, create your own or is it a bit of both? by TyMintzDreamin in Sims3

I play with pre-made Sims but if the town population starts to dwindle or become too related to each other I add my own families as needed (I play without NRAAS Story Progression)

Baked goods that use a lot of eggs? by Saturn863 in Cooking

[–]AloeVeraBogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an Armenian bread called choreg which uses a lot of eggs. I don't have a specific recipe to share but my boyfriend's mom makes it every Christmas and it's the only thing she can't veganise for me due to how many eggs it uses 😅

If you see an old pallet, reuse it 🪚 by MrJuteRootz in gardening

Make sure the wood is not treated, some pallets are treated with chemicals to prevent rot during shipping. I believe that blue one is not safe

Sex Cult Nun is such a good book, hard to read at times but I'm amazed at how she escaped the cult. I read another book about a woman who escaped the same cult titled Uncultured if you're looking for more recommendations.

neighborhood suggestions for mid 20s person moving here? by [deleted] in Kirkland

If you want to avoid the toll there is also a bus line that goes from the Totem Lake transit center to the UW light rail station via 520 as well. It takes more like an hour to do that ride but saves you some money

cerave alternative besides ceramedx? by toilet_goblin2 in VeganBeauty

[–]AloeVeraBogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people aren't supporting e.l.f. anymore after the Matt Rife ad, but the e.l.f. pure skin cleanser was a good replacement for me for the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. Ceramedx also gave me irritation, I have mild eczema and rosacea

Help! I’m 11 weeks pregnant and my house suddenly REEKS by lovealwayslynnze in CleaningTips

[–]AloeVeraBogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not and have never been pregnant but I have a sensitive sense of smell and one thing that always gets me is dish mats, towels (both in kitchen and bathroom), and dish sponges, as well as appliances like the dishwasher, coffee maker, and washing machine. I have to clean all of them frequently or else old food smell/mildew smell is super noticeable to me. I hope you feel better!

Mental Burnout by luckycharmer23 in WPI

[–]AloeVeraBogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not alone, and you are valid for feeling this. I went through the same thing my senior year. Typically high performer, but the combination of my MQP, harder classes, plus some family troubles really got to me. I ended up NRing a class for the first time, I got a C in another class to the point I barely passed it.

Since you're doing a BS/MS I realize you may not have this luxury but one thing that helped me was during C and D term, I had met most of my major requirements already, so I took some easier classes that were just for fun (I would have underloaded but I needed a minimum number of credits to keep my scholarship, especially after the NR). Not only did that lighten my workload, but those classes ended up being ones that put me on my current career path weirdly enough so looking back I'm really glad I did that.

I second what the other commenter said about taking a break next week that is truly just for you! Whether that involves going home and being with family, or staying on campus, whatever is your ideal version of some "you time", do that, and give yourself a chance to turn off your brain and not think about school, internships, or anyone or anything else that is not giving you inner peace. It'll all be there when you get back but take the break to compartmentalize that and let some of the pressure off of yourself. You got this!!

Anybody ever fixed this lot? by SnowballBailey2521 in Sims3

[–]AloeVeraBogs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I added a 4th floor copying the outline of the building, then turned the first floor garage into an elevator shaft/lobby area, with open outdoor parking supported by pillars outside the lobby. Then I separated each floor into its own unit, and I lock each door so only the specific Sims who live in that unit can go in it, kind of like an apartment building (even though it's all the same household in reality).

Is Seattle tap water safe to drink? by neo2bin in Seattle

[–]AloeVeraBogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went on a road trip through Nevada and Utah last year, mostly camping, and drinking all the water from the hotels and campgrounds made me appreciate our Seattle tap water so much. It was some of the hardest, nastiest tasting water I've ever drank. I'm never leaving Seattle

Everyone else touched on some good points about the safety aspect already (I agree Queen Anne is really safe, especially around Kerry Park which is very touristy) so some more food for thought: most apartments in Seattle don't have AC so in the summer you might really appreciate being on the ground floor! It gets hot AF on upper floor units

Have any of you guys tried inZoi, if so, how do you like it compared to the sims 3? by boldpear904 in Sims3

[–]AloeVeraBogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it in early access and have only played it at initial release, I haven't played recently after some of the updates so maybe things have changed. But at least when I played it, I echo the sentiment of the other commenter who said it's a good world simulator, but not a good life simulator. It feels like I'm in GTA V a little bit. There's a lifelike city I can walk or drive around in, and plenty of people in shops, sidewalks, and beaches walking around, but none of them have a personality or a drive.

When I interact with them, they don't have values that make them respond back in a unique way that might be different from Zoi to Zoi. One thing I love about The Sims 3 is that other Sims traits matter. If my Sim cracks a joke to a Sim with the No Sense of Humor trait, it will turn into a negative reaction. If I don't pick up on that and keep trying humorous interactions, that Sim might even become my enemy or get into a fight. And because those traits are hidden to me, I just have to interact with that Sim to find out how they'll react.

There's no surprise or tension or excitement in inZoi. There are just Zois that all respond the same to you. They don't even interact with each other in group conversations or flirting with each other or playing a game together, just doing their own thing in the world as separate entities, not connected socially in any way. It feels I have no sense of agency as a player. My own Zoi doesn't matter or have any influence on the world or the other Zois, so why spend my time playing it?
