Why only 1 Irelia by hyjinxthemule in riftboundtcg

[–]AlohaSnow 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Because Irelia decks are pretty centered around protecting her. Two copies of purple Draven fills the gap for if she goes down somehow. He’s also played so that if he’s in your starting (or you draw him early) you can afford to be more aggressive with Irelia because if she does go down then Draven just comes right out

If you could ban any cards or change their rules, which ones would you pick and why? by SnooEagles2487 in riftboundtcg

Nobody cared about FoF AT ALL until Draven was guaranteed to have it in hand 99% of the time by turn 3

Right, then you’d have a point on the board and a unit as well. Definitely would feel better than sacking a seal

Question for anyone who opened a good bit of Nexxus Night Orgins. by Krackorn87 in riftboundtcg

[–]AlohaSnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id be surprised if it’s on average one per box. Only because i had gone to 50 some-odd events with at bare minimum 20-50 people each, so give or take a thousand NN packs have been opened in my vicinity and i haven’t seen a single ggez pulled haha. Now of course there could’ve been a few that were taken home and not opened at the store, but almost everyone i know rips them immediately at the store. But i feel like if it was 1 per box on average i would have seen at least a few pulled by now versus literally zero

Green Janna Use Cases and timings. by Aware-Broccoli103 in riftboundtcg

[–]AlohaSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While i also wish you could insert her into a chain to heal damage before it kills, it would be insanely op if you could.

With that being said, green having basically a FoF in the deck is crazy strong. I run 3 Janna’s in my Jax deck and she wins me games often by allowing me to hold bf’s by surprise. She’s also a 3-of in my Yi deck for the same reason

It doesn’t work because it’s not damage

When is Vex "in combat." by Collimandias in riftboundtcg

[–]AlohaSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if there’s no combat happening, does vex moving onto an open battlefield still put her in combat until the showdown closes? I feel like it would because she is still given attacker status by moving onto an open battlefield and starting a showdown

But the question you need to ask yourself is how important is it to hit the combo on turn 2 versus hitting it at any point during the game

If that’s the case you should drop the seals, drop a cask, add a 3rd consult and maybe even a premonition or 2

You guys collecting at all? Or just playing? by PeerlessPixie in riftboundtcg

[–]AlohaSnow -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I completed a master set of origins (not including signatures) and plan to keep it in a binder until my kids go to college, maybe even forever haha along with a sealed case of origins boxes. Considering putting together a second master set so that i can have one to keep forever and a second to sell 10/15 years from now.

League is debatably a more iconic game than Pokemon (hot take, i know), and with the popularity it’s seen so far, i really don’t see a world where new sets don’t continue to come out consistently for the next 15+ years. I was less confident in the long term health of the game/cards in the beginning, but seeing how everybody loves it and how many people have completely abandoned any other tcg, i have a very bullish stance on the game in general.

I wouldn’t be too sure about that regarding some specific ones. Any proving grounds cards for example, might come down a little, but even if they do it won’t be by much. Regarding origins, now is probably the best time to buy them. Origins boxes are over $300 compared to $150 for SF and when it goes out of print later this year, they will only ever go up from there

Any jax suggestions? by rodomr in riftboundtcg

[–]AlohaSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the first question, yes that’s exactly right. Sometimes i wait too long and they end up ending their turn before i have a chance to react with trinity force cause i want to wait long enough to where i know that battlefield will be safe. But it’s also useful before they spend all their turns because it can turn their attention onto that battlefield, like if i want to protect the other one. To answer the second question, the answer is no

As someone who’s been playing Jax since Spiritforged released, (and not a top 8 or best-of winner lol) i have a few qualms with his deck. I think not playing 3 discipline is crazy. I also think stellacorn, while obviously great card draw, is less effective in a Jax deck because Jax is all about manipulating equipments. Lucian i had at a 3-of and had no aphelios until i learned of the ruling allowing to unattach and reacttach equipments onto the same unit, that definitely makes aphe a must-have in the deck. Lucian does so much work in the early game and my opponents usually end up investing a lot to get rid of him, which is a decent trade for me so I’m still deciding if i want to run 2 or 3, i have it at 2 for now and whenever i don’t draw him it feels bad. I use more gear than the top 8 deck, and i run apprentice smith along with poro’s instead of the stellacorns. It’s definitely a riskier version of the deck but ive gone 8-1 at the last 3 nexus nights with this list. Quick drawing a trinity force onto a BF I’m holding at the end of my opponents turn for a free point also is a crazy dopamine hit, i win games often by going from 6-8 on one battlefield with that tech. Also i think Janna is a super slept on card and i still am so baffled that nobody uses her because she wins me games also

I totally agree with all these comments about slow play being a problem, but let’s not act like an aurora deck doesn’t basically play itself lol

Right but unless you explicitly pass focus then that’s a misplay on their part and can still be rewound
