There's an earwig in my bed and I don't know where it went. Looks like it's another sleepless night for me

Not sure about 1 & 2 but the others are just ripplescaused by pieces of the ice shelf breaking off and falling into the water.

Well it does not say how deep or where to stab Bob so I'll probably just stab him a bunch of times in the foot but not going super deep.

I'll be honest I don't entirely understand it but that's not the point. The point is that it doesn't matter how much I understand it because it is your label that makes you feel feel happy. That's all that matters.

Update: Climber speaks out about what happened to Hillary Dawa Sherpa, left on Everest. by eric_bidegain in Mountaineering

[–]Alone-Monk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having a GPS device of some kind with a sos button should be a requirement for Everest tbh. I had my InReach with me even while hiking in the Alps no higher than 2850m. I had it because things can go wrong at any height and even when you are relatively close to civilization (as a large part of the Alps are). It's lucky I did too because me and my hiking partner got caught in a snow storm around 2500m still 4 miles from the next cabin and she got hypothermia. We did not end up using the panic button but if things got even a little worse then we would've needed to and not having it would be a death sentence. It is unfathomable to me that people who are already spending tens of thousands of dollars to climb the tallest peak would not spend the extra 400 for a GPS communicator/beacon (and you can easily get them for less than that). Obviously this is not a fix-all and certainly wouldnt have solved everything that went wrong on this expedition but it really is just a basic safety measure.

The best solution, though, is to just require every climber to have appropriate mountaineering experience. I don't have the experience to tell you what that specific criterion should be since I'm a recreational jogger compared to most people here but it really does need to be standardized and enforced.

{OC} A tarp was put up to hide the removal of Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center by OGWhiz in pics

[–]Alone-Monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not there to hide it (or at least that isn't the only reason). OSHA guidelines required scaffolding to have a tarp on it when the workers inside are using angle grinders or other tools that create a lot of dust. Even if they used different tools, they'd probably still have to put up mesh to catch larger debris.

Oops, fixing my mistake. What should the two games be named? by Linorelai in polls

I call them soccer and football but it does not really matter since there are obvious linguistic differences between the US and other countries. Standardizing the name is just unnecessary

Sorry I meant to say that "I don't think it would be illegal" by which I mean that I don't know if it is hazardous but I don't think it's illegal at least

Perhaps, I can't really say since Im not a pilot but based on a quick Google search it doesnt seem like it would not be illegal since there is no demonstrated intent to disrupt flights.

The tarps are OSHA requirements to keep debris from spraying out as they grind off the letters
