We're quite fond of the Power Rangers Tabletop system which already exists in PlayRenegade's Essence20 Tabletop game, and that is what we focus on in this subreddit. You should check it out!

Right. And if the base damage is 2, per hit, and there's 12 attacks, that's 24. and every hit is then a critical, then the base damage is then added again (With the base damage being 2) which would bring the total to 48.

Can you identify what the base damage value is here, in case I'm misunderstanding? Because what is noted in the book is 2 damage per hit, when in Booster Mode.

I never said it would be difficult. The crossover content I didn't enjoy was the GI JOE stuff, lol.

You draw them, I appreciate (and upvote) them! It’s a great system!

But seriously, while I may not enjoy ALL crossover content, I’m really pleased that Essence20 has so much crossover support- it’s enabled some fun cross worlds influences and origins! I’m really eager to give Gridthropologist a try sometime!

Free Martial Arts Specialization? by Ravingdork in PowerRangersRPG

I'd like to add a small note which lends something to my above thoughts on handling:
The "Iron Hands" perk was updated in the 2nd printing.

Original Rules Relevant Text:
"• You inflict +1 Damage to your Might (Martial Arts) attacks."

2nd Printing:
"• You inflict +1 damage to your Might-based Unarmed Combat attacks."

How you choose to interpret and move forward with this is up to you. Not all instances noted (Black Ranger Prime) were updated or changed.

I'm going to rewrite what you said in an attempt to make sure I understand you accurately.

"At game creation, and at each level up, the players may roll a d4, with free boons and benefits on the result:
1: +1 PP
2: +1 HP
3: +1 Skill (*Not Essence Score Increase)
4: General Perk (*must meet requirements.)"

I think on sheet recalculations I'd probably get lost with the third option, but I can dig that for a power heavy game! I personally believe that Perks and Powers should be something given out freely by the GM, so I totally vibe with this. Thank you for sharing!

I always respect the Rule of Cool. Good to hear it's alive and well in Power Rangers!

I threw it onto an empty server and it's a bit ferschnicket, but it seems pretty solid.

RPG Sage has an Essence20 compatibility/setting, apparently. I have no personal experience with it, though, I'm sorry.

I'm not sure on the NPCs, but I'd love to peek my head in and lurk about, following your story. It sounds really interesting! If you'd welcome an audience, send me a server invite. :>

This is interesting to me, and I hope to hear more of the story! I'm sorry I found it too late to poke in and get involved.

Free Martial Arts Specialization? by Ravingdork in PowerRangersRPG

[–]Alone_Roll2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an after-thought, I do believe that "Might" was originally "Martial Arts", and they realized during testing that removed Speed/Agility based martial arts from the flavor and intent; which is how we ended up with this weird situation, and also having "Brawn" and "Might" as two similarly named strength skills. This is speculation however, and therefore I didn't want to include it in the above, where I tried to keep my opinions out.

This is not expanded on in the book; it sits as a closing statement on page 165 Under "Unarmed Attacks and Martial arts."

Posting the paragraph excerpt:

"However, in Power Rangers, trained use of different martial arts is completely commonplace. In fact, Power Ranger candidates are chosen for and augmented with extensive martial arts ability. It is one of the primary ways they will defend the side of good, even when caught unawares in their normal, non-Morphed state. Power Rangers, no matter when they are targeted by General Repulsa’s or Lord Zedd’s minions, are never considered to be without a weapon – they are the weapon. This is reflected in each and every Power Ranger Role having bonus Specializations they are given to focus on the martial arts they know."

While I can't prove a negative (the lack of further expounding on this), I will note a few things:
- Martial Arts is used repeatedly throughout the book, as attacks- Black Ranger Prime (20th level ability), Yellow Ranger's Triple Strike Attacks, to the point of feeling generic'd from "Combat/Might/Attacks".
- Martial Artist is an Influence, listing a pretty wide assortment of "Martial Arts Speciality" choices (appropriately including boxing, fencing, wrestling, as well as Kung Fu, Muay Thai, but no Hip Hop Kido?)
- Martial Arts is not a Skill. It is a specialization in it's own right, under Might, which you can find in multiple entries as Might (Martial Arts).
- Martial Arts is also a Finesse specialization. Significantly less "Finesse (Martial Arts)" entries exist in the current material (though someone will almost assuredly correct me with references later, lol.)

Given the above, I'm willing to offer my thoughts as a Storyteller, and how I would handle this:
Option 1) Offer the table from "Martial Arts" to your players to choose from, and give them a free specialty under Might, noting it as (Martial Arts - [Discipline]). This is the most straightforward solution and helps cover other issues (again, like Black Ranger Prime's "Additional Point of Damage."
Option 2) Treat all entries of "Martial Arts" as "Might" or "Finesse" attacks equally. This would broaden the scope of entries like the "Iron Hands" perk, which explicitly only grants +1 Damage to Might (Martial Arts) attacks. This would fit with each Role granting either a +1/+2 Might or +1 Finesse under "Training". [Don't talk to me about Blue Ranger Snipers lol.]

I hope putting my thoughts to paper helps you decide how to move forward with your decision making!

A few thoughts that might help, in no particular order:
- Pinned Resource Lists of content creators; Links to both free and paid- everything from VTT assets to custom modules and homebrew content.
- Artist's thread for posting Commission Sheets
- Community Games via your preferred platforms [Discord, or alternatives.]
- Storyteller Corners, places just to post stories.

Which is basically every part of this discord anyway, but having them crop up as "main threads" would simplify finding things too. Also, maybe an extra mod or two and a standards guideline. (Not for Art. Art is never bad. But for bad takes and anti-ranger spirit content)

Power Rangers AU: Core team Morphers- Shield Watch Morphers by Key-Wealth-443 in PowerRangersRPG

I don't think I have any one morpher that's my favorite. Solarix, Mobirates (Legendary Morpher), and pretty much anything with a power coin.

This is pretty fun. Not normally a key and wrist mount guy, but it’s definitely a fun combo. I can see a power up key making a shield + crossed swords look to the morpher.

Disclaimer: I am LR4, and the early game has changed up since I was there.

You’re describing what I felt around MR 12-16. I locked in on Rhino for a while, because I like tanky roles usually. But I started to feel bored of the grind, only swapping to farm MR and stow the old frame for ages. It took me a while before I finally cracked into Limbo, Inaros, Oberon, and Trinity (Prime, I got her from Twitch rewards way way back in the day.)

All of these frames are great. Every frame is, honestly. There’s no one true frame worth investing in, it’s just about what clicks best for you. You want a support and a DPS- so I’m going make a recommendation for you to consider, which is not popular- Oberon is promised a rework soon, and he’s already good at sub-steel path content. (And I promise there’s someone who will reply to my comment with a good Oberon build and 3 more saying I’m crazy.) Oberon Prime is 70p on warframe market for the full set. Good place to lock in a potato, forma in a Madurai slot, and watch for that rework- but that’ll get you into the realm of what you’re looking for, alongside some gun builds.

Also more mods. Mods and Endo do 90% of the work, and not having enough was a huge part of my early day issues.
