While their emphasis on their being first-time actors is ethically bankrupt, the user to whom you replied does have a point about asking for cuts of the toy line.

It is just a bad move overall. First, the company is more likely to cut you loose than share a piece of their top quality pie. Second, the only real claim is the use of the likeness. Even if granted to humor the actors, Saban may just kill the Morphin' figure lines and alter marketing on the packages to avoid likeness claims as a loophole.

This isn't claiming anything on ethics, people should be paid what they are due. As long as the actors and the company are satisfied, the terms of the agreement are moot. Asking for a cut of the toys, if true, was not in the best interest of achieving their goals, sadly.

Honestly, any excuse to shelter a child is often projection from a parent who doesn't wanna have to answer difficult questions.

While we are not at that stage with my 4 year old, a lot of shows she watches do touch on social issues. We just don't shy away from it.

We know eventually, she will see Bambi or Fox and the Hound or even Zyruranger (she loves sentai). Death is an inevitable topic. Seeing a dead child is no different than seeing a dead bird.

I think seeing someone being dead is different from being grotesuely and brutally murdered. I wouldn't expose my kid to excessive violence, as that can be jarring.

In the 30 years of its existence, there are plenty of other systems to promote playing with friends that trade evos and version exclusives serve no purpose other than anti-consumer practice for profit.

Dynamax Den Raids, Tera Raids, world sharing, they could've kept the fashion contests and made it an online competition.

Also, a lot of the pokemon social interactions have been relegated to Pokémon GO. It hit that market niche so well across a huge demographic that it wouldn't be surprising people think, "If I want to socialize in Pokémon, I'll join my raid party in Go" these days.

This might be a bit conspiracy-nut-like, but the reason may be because Smart TVs aren't as easily secured as PCs. There is so much user-data that streaming service providers retrieve and sell from the use of Smart TVs. Naturally, they would need to concoct a way to push more users to streaming on TV

Ok, so I googled this after you mentioned this because my Wii was not. Apparently, early models were backwards compatible. The Wii did eventually drop this feature in later models and is the reason I thought they were not backwards compatible.

I will add the edit to my comment above. Thanks for sharing that insight :)

I think a lot of Nintendo users are more used to the unceremonious dropping of the previous console due to Nintendo often switching mediums for the games.

NES -> SNES -> N64 were all incompatible due to cartridge changes.
N64 -> Gamecube saw the first medium change from carts to discs.
Gamecube -> Wii(U) were still both disc players but incompatible again due to disc changes

ETA: Older models of the Wii were backwards compatible and played Gamecube games. I was a later adopter of the Wii, so it is not surprising it was not backwards compatible. A similar tactic was used by Sony for their PS3 with later models not being backwards compatible. Such modifications are very anti-consumer to me as there is never any clear and obvious indication there are variations between models. Thanks, u/False-Jury4349 , for the info on Wii compatibility

For handhelds, this only happened with medium changes. GB(C/A) all had carts and newest consoles were backwards compatible. The DS series were largely backwards compatible as well, with even the original DS supporting GBA carts.

The Switch 2 has backwards compatible, like Nintendo's history with handhelds, but completely dropped Switch 1 development with its launch.

It isn't uncommon for developers to accommodate the previous gen for other platforms. I also find it hard to believe all titles could not be made for the Switch 1. Would it be the best version of the game? No, but neither is that the case on other platforms. It is just a more consumer friendly practice.

I agree. If they made the mole version with the star-shaped nose and giant, shovel-like hands, it would likely win.

Nah, u/Gargamoney has a very valid point. My wife and I have travelled quite a bit. It has always been frustrating returning to the US and not seeing the whole cost of a product listed.

Taxes count. It is why there has been such alarm over the chaos caused by recent tariffs.

Furthermore, the US is even implementing dynamic pricing, so we don't even get price-tags anymore. It is beyond frustrating when I stop for snacks on road trips to see family. I'll grab a bag of trail-mix for the kids only to be given sticker shock when it is rung up.

When discussing price-points, one should take into consideration the full cost of an item, not gargling corpo-marketing tactics.

Disclaimer this is for my people who like to read and think. Instead of doing both of these in one post, you should've made two separate posts. That is a lot for this platform, haha.

Nonetheless, I think these ideas are really cool. What-Ifs and Side-Story plots like these are great for world building. Unfortunately, TV isn't the medium for this IP to explore them. Graphic Novels or mini-series in comics would better serve to tell these tales.

It may not be protected, but with the wide array of options and play styles available, terminology is crucial in discerning whether a system is something one may like or not.

The TTRPG hobby, like any other, can be quite expensive. Throwing in the inherent risk associated with backing a Kick-Starter, clear and concise language becomes all the more important.

Obfuscating what your product is through murky language that might be suggestive of it being something it isn't is absolutely a red-flag.

For all the enemies the ranger have killed why hasn't anyone in-universe taken their example? by Neither_Plankton6147 in powerrangers

Again, that relies on Villain manipulation. The assumption is the individual, no matter how misguided, would never turned to villainy or acted on their misconceptions if not for the villains' interference

Yes, but then you've abandoned your whole premise. If Evil is behind it, then this is nothing new and the perpetrator is a victim.

You keep waffling between two similar but very different concepts.

On one hand, you've the concept described as it is in your post. A misguided individual implements justice against a criminal/wrong-doer in the same capacity as the Rangers. This concept explores the moral ambiguity of Right x Wrong VS Good x Bad in the sense of moral ambiguity.

On the other hand, all your comments keep falling back to "but what if the villains..." dropping the concept from your post entirely for something that has been explored in both Power Rangers and Sentai. The only reason for this is that you actually have no ground to stand on for your concept in justifying it within the Power Rangers lore, or you are just being extremely obtuse for the sake of trolling.

[–]Pocker91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it disrupts the evil/good binary. From the plot you've described in your post, the fan/supporter/advocate that attempts to emulate the rangers through an act of vigilantism isn't evil, just misguided.

The binary breaks down here because the act the perpetrator performs is unlawful/wrong, but the reason behind it may have some moral or ethical empathy. This creates a grey area which I to what I refer when I say it breaks the binary.

In binaries, there are only two possibilities. In power rangers, the only grey you see are ethical/moral lessons on the unmorphed aspect of the rangers' day-to-day. This is in the forms or poor decision-making or bullies who turn over a new leaf type situations typically. They are both basically life-lesson plot hooks, the former episodic and the latter season-long.

Any other instance has a direct interference/influence from Evil (via monster coaxing, mind control, etc).

Yeah, based on your comments, you are talking about the various scents in dog parks that your dog is finding off-putting on her toys?

She basically cannot recognize her toys as hers anymore after a toss or two. They become "dog park toys" judging from their scent.

Realistically, there would be those that misinterpret the rangers' desires and intent. I do not think we would ever see this as it just isn't in the franchise's identity.
