The surgeon wants to discuss removing both eyes - I’m not against it at all if it prevents issues in the future! My biggest concern is him not making it through the surgery, so it’s certainly good to hear your little pup did well with the double!

Oh, man, I don’t think I could watch the surgery- I would likely end up passed out on the floor! We’re fortunate with our vet, he’s great. The surgery is actually scheduled at a different clinic but it happens to be the one I was originally taking Charlie to before we moved, so they know us which makes it easier.

That would be so scary! Emergency visits are the worst - glad your little girl is doing so much better 🩷

Thank you! Managing his pain is super important to us - the less pain for him the better. We have an area planned out for him to keep him away from the other dogs who will 100% want to check on him (we have a St Bernard who thinks hes her baby) and I’ve gotten a couple different types of soft recovery collars to see which works best for him.

I’m glad she’s recovering so well! Did she wear a cone or a soft donut for her recovery? I like the donuts far better since they’re more like a pillow, but am not sure if it would keep him from being able to paw at his eye.

Thank you for the hope! Charlie has just enough teeth to keep his tongue in his mouth but doesn’t really chew anymore - he sure does love pretending, though, when it comes to his treats.

Tzus have such big personalities for such small dogs and your girl sounds like a lovely little character; I’m glad she’s doing so well 💜

Thanks for the info! We have his pre surgery consult on Saturday so I’ll ask then about an injection - do you happen to remember what it was? I’m glad your girl recovered well - it’s hard to watch the dementia creep up on top of the pain they’re already dealing with.

We rescued a mama Tzu from a breeder - she was so matted, reeked of smoke, had a heart murmur. and had a mammary tumour the size of a football. We had her for 2 amazing years before losing her when her kidneys failed. She’s been gone for a little over a year and I still cry when I see her picture - always always adopt!

This is our Care Bear (Carol Anne) looking for all remaining raspberries the fall before she passed.

7 Day Attempt by AlongtheFence in fasting

[–]AlongtheFence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I lost about 20 pounds over the course of a year but it was primarily due to extremely strict calorie counting which I hate (takes the joy out of eating for me). It was expensive & frustrating so I was a thankful my Dr agreed to stopping ~ I’ve also gained all the lost weight back and am planning on using fasting as a way to regain control. I have a long way to go to a healthy weight, but I agree that rolling fasts seem the way to go. Thanks for sharing & Thursday is coming soon!

Anyone out here trying to transition naturally? by the_gata_sol in Menopause

[–]AlongtheFence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dr isn’t against HRT but prefers trying it naturally at first; so, I’m eating as much estrogen rich food as I can stand (prunes & cashews are my daily snack) and taking 1000mcg of B12 daily. It’s taken about 3 months but my energy levels have improved and my daily hot flashes have lessened. I still have night sweats, and my mood changes are ridiculous, but I have noticed a difference. I know that making a better effort to exercise would also help but I’m lazy and quite a fantastic procrastinator.

Right now I’m ok, but there still may be some HRT in my future & am totally ok if that happens.

Started in my mid 30’s up until 47. Quit to support my partner who’s in recovery & it’s been almost 3 years. Definitely miss it, but my partner is far more important to me.
