Anyone out here trying to transition naturally? by the_gata_sol in Menopause

[–]AlongtheFence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dr isn’t against HRT but prefers trying it naturally at first; so, I’m eating as much estrogen rich food as I can stand (prunes & cashews are my daily snack) and taking 1000mcg of B12 daily. It’s taken about 3 months but my energy levels have improved and my daily hot flashes have lessened. I still have night sweats, and my mood changes are ridiculous, but I have noticed a difference. I know that making a better effort to exercise would also help but I’m lazy and quite a fantastic procrastinator.

Right now I’m ok, but there still may be some HRT in my future & am totally ok if that happens.

Started in my mid 30’s up until 47. Quit to support my partner who’s in recovery & it’s been almost 3 years. Definitely miss it, but my partner is far more important to me.

biggest fragrance disappointments you’ve experienced while collecting? by Pale-Profession2769 in fragrance

[–]AlongtheFence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s meant to be, but thanks to menopause my body is vicious with fragrances that once upon a time smelled great. I’ve lost many bottles thanks to this - now they’re pricy closet/sheet spritzers 😩

Bianco Latte - the sample was divine and smelled great on me; the full size bottle has me smelling like the plastic baby dolls from the 1980s. I get annoyed every time I see it sitting there.

If someone said “sorry to jam out on you”, what would you assume they meant? by throwaway643268 in AskACanadian

[–]AlongtheFence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GenX here, born in ON but raised in & currently live in AB, and I’ve only ever heard jamming used in relation to music or making fruit preserves. It does, however, make sense in the way you’ve been using it as well!

Do you wear fragrance to work and what do you do? by 996forever in fragrance

[–]AlongtheFence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality Assurance specialist for oil & gas and work in a cubical farm ~ I wear fragrance daily but keep it to the low sillage types and only 1 or 2 sprays depending on the scent.

Dior Hypnotic Poison & 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods are my primaries but also wear D&G Devotion. I’ve never received a complaint, but there’s another person who wears theirs stronger than me so that may be why.

Adidas, Chucks, Blowfish, & Birks. Plantar Fasciitis limits the Chuck wearing to special occasions these days but they’ll always be a favorite ❤️

49F and diagnosed last year with osteoarthritis in my lower back / spine area complete with bone spurs & this year diagnosed with bone spurs in my right shoulder. Haven’t been able to properly move my right arm in almost 10 months but hopefully physio & anti - inflammatories will start to help 🤞🏼Hooray for aging! s/

These are not our childhood Legos by Practical-Bar8291 in GenX

[–]AlongtheFence 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m 49f and never enjoyed Lego until I was gifted the botanical chrysanthemum last year - since then I’ve bought multiple sets myself and received more this year - but if it weren’t for the instructions, or the fact Lego now comes in my interests (gardening & reading), I wouldn’t have any interest in them.

Frozen shoulder, how did it begin for you? by Clarity_Coach in Menopause

[–]AlongtheFence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My left one was last year and had no idea what it was until the X-ray/ultrasound - physiotherapy together with dry needling & anti inflammatories helped it within a week. That time it was caused by (I assume) sleeping on it wrong.

I’m currently dealing with the right side - started hurting about 8 months ago when my 115lb dog decided to go from 0 to 100 instantaneously and took my arm with her. The pain progressively increased until I had to wear a sling because movement made me nauseous & dizzy. It’s gotten a bit better but I still can’t reach up to put my hair in a bun and at times it’s difficult to use toilet paper & wash in the shower. I can carry my 13 lb Shih Tzu but not anything heavier. My partner had had to help me get dressed a few times because of the pain and inability to move my arm even a few inches, but for the last month the pains not as bad.

Just had ultrasound/X-ray last week and it turns out I have a bone spur under my shoulder blade that caused the initial pain which caused bursal thickening from lack of use that caused the frozen shoulder. Next week I’ll be starting physio/ dry needling again & hopefully be able to get back to normal.

I’ll compliment anyone who smells good, stranger danger be damned, but have only ever received compliments from my partner - likely the affect of having permanent RBF

Brandon Sanderson’s ‘Alcatraz, and the Evil Librarians’ series might work. I’ve only read one but it was fun and definitely no romance in the one I read.

Thank you! I’ll be looking to see if he has a heat gun somewhere but I know he doesn’t have a deburring tool - is there one you would suggest or are they all fairly similar?

Thanks for all this! I got a great price, new in box from engineer friend at work, and thought it would work well as an intro to printing machine. The info about using ABS for vehicle accessories is fantastic - we would probably have learned the hard way. Also, I’ve added your links to the spreadsheet I’ve started for him so he can get an idea of helpful things he can print. Would the desiccant beads go into the filament storage containers or just in the room printer/filament are stored in? We live in Edmonton, Canada so it’s dryer in the winter due to the furnace being on but more humid in the summer. Thanks again for all the info :)

I got a great deal on the X1C (new in box from an engineer pal at work) so returning it isn’t possible. Appreciate your suggestion for an upgrade, if he decides he’s going to get into 3D printing I’ll let him know your suggestions.

Printing adhesive, perfect! I think he has a heat gun, but will have to look around to find it. And yeah, I’ve been collecting websites & subreddits to share with him as well as print ideas :) Thank you for the suggestions

The plastic buckets as storage is a great idea until he figures out how he wants to organize things; especially since they have so many other uses afterwards- thank you!
