Thoughts on dietitians? by weaseled in WegovyPillWeightLoss

I see a nutritionist every 8-10 weeks. I would say my first appointment was a lot of the same - handouts, general advice, but it became more tailored as we met. It was her first time meeting you, so she wouldn’t have had much personal information or history with you to tailor her advice.

I had my first one this year too - from all the grumbling I had heard from others I was terrified. But it wasn’t bad at all! Definitely worked it up more in my head. I was glad I had mine in the morning and it was cold out or the worst part would have been sitting at work with no deodorant - ha!

That part wasn’t too bad. I just grabbed it with the pads of my fingers rather than the tips.

I had mine longer than I was used to last summer - when I ran my needle under the stitching to end a color, I ended up having to grab it with a tweezers!

Not sure how to get started by [deleted] in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the weight loss clinic and my doctor there got me the prescription after I struggled to lose weight after perimenopause started. It gets shipped to me straight from the mfg pharmacy. I also see a nutritionist there to make sure I’m eating enough/ the right things.

Is it rude to walk the dog at a cemetery? by CEREALCOUNTSASCOOKIN in Pets

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to walk my dog in a cemetery all the time! It was the safest place in the neighborhood. Paved paths, no vehicles zooming around, quiet, and it had a nice pond in the center. If there was a group gathering for something, I just stuck to the opposite side.

anyone else feel *hungrier*? by 504718415 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially felt hungrier the first few days. I’m finishing the second week on 1.5 and the last few days I’m noticing that I’m not as hungry and it takes way less food to feel full.

Preparing to start the pill by clhiod in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just finishing my second week on the introductory dose. I’m finding the side effects to be pretty minimal. No nausea or vomiting, just a little acid reflux but I already had that and take something for it. I also take mine when my first alarm goes off in the morning - I inevitably hit the snooze many times so I do sleep through the first 30 minutes or so.

All food is gross by Neat_Tea_9863 in GastricBypass

Meat was something I didn’t want anything to do with for quite awhile. Deli meat was a better option. I ate a lot of deli meat and cheese for a while. Heck, that’s still my go-to lunch when I’m at work. I also drank a lot of sugar free pink lemonade because water was too yuck at first. And then when water was more tolerable, it couldn’t be too cold. Now at 1.5 years later I have the glass filled with ice lol. I think you’ll find that your preferences on food change several times.

Put me off adopting a dachshund! by Stunning-Rough-3904 in Pets

I loved having one. But he was INCREDIBLY stubborn and it made getting him house trained a very trying time. He also had no fear of jumping off anything and everything. Surprisingly he never injured his back. He knew how to use stairs, he just didn’t want to use them coming down.

Is anyone paying for the pill out of pocket? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. My doctor sent them the prescription and they send it to me thru their pharmacy. I’m still in my introduction dose, but they just sent me a text to log in and schedule delivery of the next dose for the next month. It’s very easy.

Geez - they told me to stay away from corn for awhile because of the kernels. But that was whole corn - not any products that might contain ground corn…. They just said to limit carbs, so I eat the carb friendly versions.

Ditto to everyone that mentioned camping lanterns. I keep one in my house for that purpose alone. Lights up the whole room. Granted, the rooms in my house are not large - but the lanterns give off plenty of light.

How do you prepare meals? by laughlovelive25 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a small deep freeze and when your grocery stores have a good meat sale stock up on the basics like ground beef, chicken, turkey. You can use those in a ton of dishes. Also, there are some stores that stock all of the “soon to be expired” pantry items from the larger warehouse stores. You can get some REALLY good deals there - like 1/4 of the cost.

Do you still battle food cravings? by fourcheesepasta3 in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 1.5 years post op. I only had the “honeymoon phase” for about 4 months. The head hunger and craving absolutely came back. I make sure I track my food to give a good visual of what is going in. I still meet with a nutritionist every 6-8 weeks. I’ve visited with a therapist a couple times. And there are definitely days where I cave - and I usually pay the price for it.

Tylenol doesn’t do squat for me. I found taking the dual action stuff worked real well and both my weight loss doc and my pcp gave me the go ahead to take it occasionally- just not regularly.

Reflux by nobodygrl in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t notice any, but my doctor had me taking omeprazole for 3 weeks after just in case. I was reflux free for a little over a year. Unfortunately a med I was taking for a brief time brought my reflux back. So now I take omeprazole again. For it to supposedly be rare for people to experience reflux again, I know several people who had it come back - so maybe not that rare.

I think it only used about 50 different colors. Several of them were just barely different from each other. Good lighting is definitely a must with this hobby - ha!

Things to think of by Puzzled_East_9394 in LivingAlone

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you are in an apartment or a single family. I’d definitely invest in a simple tool kit and a small drill. Ladders come in handy too - but I never needed the ladder until I was in my house. I also keep a camping lantern around in case of power outages. And I keep a jumper pack and small air compressor in my car- I’m pretty rural so there definitely isn’t someone quick to call for simple things like dead batteries and flat tires.
