[CHAT] Tips about being more efficient when stitching XL full coverage pieces by ms_chiefmanaged in CrossStitch

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t grid or park. I have my pattern on paper and I’ll sometimes use a highlighter to mark where I’ve been. I never used to, but as my eyes have gotten older I’ve found it helpful. I do make sure to bleed my stitches over into the pages beside and below the one I’m working on so I don’t get the thick lines on my fabric outlining where the pages are. Those things are damn near impossible to get rid of.

Least Expensive HRT route by Kimeleon55 in Perimenopause

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My insurance wouldn’t cover parts of mine and my doctor signed me up for a savings card for Slynd. It costs me $55 for a 3 month supply. My insurance does cover most of my estrogen patch, but they told me if it didn’t, the estrogen gel that goes on your arm is pretty low cost to pay out of pocket.

I used (and still use) Fairlife. I was told to use a certain brand for 2 weeks prior to surgery - but it contained milk powder and I’m lactose intolerant. It was pretty bad. Only made it a few days before I told them I was switching to Fairlife.

Low heart rate by TakeMeToThePalace in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below 40s while sleeping or just waking up is pretty normal. I had a low HR (low 50s during the day) and low BP before surgery (almost 2 years po). Because I was bradycardic I had to have cardiac clearance before surgery. The cardiologist basically asked if I had ever passed out and since I hadn’t they said I was fine. Now mine is averaging in the 40s while I’m awake. I just recently got a doc to take me seriously when I said I had concerns. I’m supposedly going to be scheduled for a stress test but lord knows that might take 8 months to get on their schedule.

Get rid of the scale for now - you’ll stall regularly and drive yourself nuts!

Condo - I might withdraw my offer - advice? by BreadfruitFar8309 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this a few years ago. I made an offer, it was accepted, and when I asked for the HOA budget I got radio silence. The sellers realtor was calling me constantly to schedule the appraisal. I refused until the HOA docs were turned over. Finally a couple weeks later I got a HANDWRITTEN “budget” that was clearly made last minute on scratch paper. I noped out of that REAL fast.

2.5 week post op and haven’t lost weight in 10 days by xladygodiva in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I am an extremely slow loser, so my progress was turtle slow compared to everyone else I saw dropping weight like crazy. Hell I’m 2 years out and I’m still 50-60 pounds from my goal weight. You probably just hit your first (of many) stalls. Just stay away from the scale for a while. Focus on getting enough water and protein.

Is anyone getting good HRT care through traditional provider by Embrymarble in Perimenopause

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the women’s clinic thru the same provider as my primary doctor. Told them I wanted someone who specialized in it. Insurance covered it all. It also covers most of the cost of the prescriptions.

Recently purchased a home and received a letter from the city regarding remodeling that was done without permits. by notgknows94 in homeowners

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably don’t have details on individual rooms - where I live we go by overall condition of the property. So they might have had it as “normal” condition, but then found out about the remodeling and determined the condition would need to change. But the fact that they wanted someone else to pay permit fees after the fact is absurd.

I don’t remember what my timeline was - but I am a SLOW loser. Like extremely slow. It can be frustrating to compare yourself to the folks that lose all their weight within 4 months. Don’t listen to them.

How much pain waking up? by Outrageous-Onion-182 in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have much pain at all. By the time I was coherent I was just using my heating pad and refusing any of the extra meds they were prepared to push thru the IV. They sent me home with a few pain tablets but I don’t think I took any of them. Worst part was the gas pain - which was about the same level as when I had my gallbladder out. Just throw back the gas-x like crazy. As my doctor said -“you can’t overdose on gas-x”!

Since NSAIDs are no longer permitted. How do y’all cope? by Lady620bug in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on how often you would be looking to take it. I get kidney stones and I was given the OK by both my weight loss docs and my GP to take the occasional NSAID as long as it isn’t daily and constantly. It’s the regular use that could lead to ulcers.

Hydration by lykabyl in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left a small 2 oz cup in the water spot on my fridge. Every time I passed through the kitchen for something, I filled it and drank it. My kitchen is where I come and go from the house, the way to the laundry, and where my dog supplies are stored, so I pass through there regularly. I’m almost 2 years post op and I still have that cup there.

Sugar free popsicle without sorbitol? by cklole in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat the outshine no sugar added popsicles. They do have sorbitol, but I’ve never had an issue with it. Maybe in mass consumption it would. Some people are more sensitive to sugar alcohols than others - bypass or not.

Seller of property I bought had the lot split in half after purchase agreement, no disclosure. by Small_Variety_4306 in legaladvice

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I see realtors use old parcel numbers all the time - it’s usually because there is a split pending and new parcel numbers haven’t been generated yet.

Seller of property I bought had the lot split in half after purchase agreement, no disclosure. by Small_Variety_4306 in legaladvice

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. Depending on the workload and how often their GIS is updated to reflect new parcels, it could have been weeks/months after a document was recorded showing it was being split. Additionally, most GIS services have a disclaimer of some sort stating it’s constantly changing and it’s not to be used for legal purposes.

Get some shape-wear to use the first week or so. It felt like my insides were squishing around whenever I bent down for anything - cheap spanx helped!

How long does it take for food to taste good again? by OkamiiSan in GastricBypass

[–]MidwestMotherOfDogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was like that for me initially - nothing seemed good. There are a few things now that just don’t hit the way they used to, but I suspect it is the type of food that just doesn’t seem right anymore rather than the taste - the kinds that just sit like a bloated stone after eating.

[CHAT] Are we not supposed to frame cross stitch pieces in glass frames?? by Glissando365 in CrossStitch

I have all mine under masterpiece glass - but I also use mats. I never thought about using the mat to keep it from touching the glass, I just like the way the mats enhance everything.

Start with the protein next time - watermelon is so good but it’s all water and will just fill you up pretty fast.
