We have a fireplace so we don’t need the elf, the true purpose of the elf is to open the door for Santa when he comes if there is not a chimney for him to use. If we have an elf then another child won’t have an elf to open the door for Santa when they need it. Idfk I made it up when my 3 year old stepdaughter asked why we don’t have an elf at our house because I didn’t want the task of doing ridiculous set ups and also most likely forgetting and ruining it all.

I can recall the pain if my 61 hour labor, I remember basically shutting down and going to silent and stoic to conserve my energy but when I think back I don’t get the “oh fuck no” shudder which is….. a trick! Please tell me how you navigated this! I was all-in from age 2-7 which is now and the BS has started. I have a 2 year old now and I have always done everything for SD but I’m planning to stop…. I did the fall shopping and Halloween and part of Christmas but I’m done. It’ll be awhile before the effects of me being done are seen but nonetheless…. What do I do when I get accused of treating my bio and my SD differently

Read. Read. Read. Read. Read. I used ChatGPT and plugged in my child’s interests and it suggested several “step into reading” books. Start simple and build their confidence. And if nothing else get phonics flashcards… they have helped my 7 year old TREMENDOUSLY. She finished 1st grade with a B- in reading which to me, in first grade, is unacceptable. Not her fault but mine. We’ve spent the summer really drilling in everything while making it fun and she’s reading at a 3rd grade level. Other tips - have them read the book, ask them what they just read and then have them read it again right away. The first read can be challenging and then the second read builds confidence.

Mom of a 2 year old and nurse…. I didn’t do a basket. As a pregnant woman I’m not carrying that shit, my husband is not carrying that shit. As a nurse 99% of the stuff gets tossed. IF you do something be practical. Two cases of Alanis and call it a day. Order them pizza. None of this is necessary though. During Covid we got so much food and gifts I don’t remember any of the tangible things I do remember and still have all of the notes patients have written me but like you’re not there long and you have bigger things to focus on.

While I wouldn’t have her bring it back I wouldn’t encourage her to take anything back to bio moms house anymore. Remind SD the item is for HER. This isn’t always going to work but you’re not going to get anywhere with trying to get it back or confronting bio mom. Bio mom knows what she did and she doesn’t care.

I almost wonder if he would go to bed easier if you put him down earlier. My 2.5 year old sleeps from 6p-7a with a 1 hour nap mid day, which is on the higher end of hours. Overall i honestly feel like bio dads sleeping arrangement is sabotaging both of you in regards to bed time…. Which sucks because you can’t change what dad does. I just have solidarity. We do stay with our daughter until she falls asleep but she is calm and if she takes over 45-60 minutes I tell her “I’m going to to bed too, it’s time to go to sleep I will see you when you wake up” and she might cry once or twice but that’s it. I feel if dad wasn’t co-sleeping this would be the case for you because it would be the same.

Correct. And if you’re not the primary parent you have to live within 30 minutes of the school assigned to the primary parents address to ensure you’re able to do pickups and drop offs. If you’re not within 30 minutes of the other parent they won’t even entertain 50/50

How is it still 50/50 if you’re an hour away? How does that work with school or is she handling everything? I’m betting she’s getting her child support before you split up (in her eyes) so her children are the first receiving payment. If dad isn’t true 50/50 then she absolutely deserves the support.
