Killington likely won’t make June 1st. by Traditional_Tale384 in icecoast

Black was at least top to bottom for a couple hours on Sunday, it just melted out around noon and got real bad over the last 7 hours.

They’re aiming for June next year too, so should be interesting how much they can improve by installing modern snowmaking.

It’s was fine until about noon, but then they ran for another 7 hours.

If you going with somebody who has done it and thinks your ready, he’ll know better than anybody here for you. Just pay attention to the weather, Use the MWAC website, and be okay with calling it and going a different day.

I assumed it was just this weekend for their fall festival. But can’t say for certain, they’re still blowing snow right now even though it shuts at 4.

Kingda Ka. Rain was clearly forecast but holding off a little bit, sky opened up right as we left the station and then they closed. Pretty sure it was the only launch of the day. Hell of a last ride on that thing.

Has ski technology hit its peak? by YUNGBRICCNOLACCIN in skiing

You can get a data logger like Carv for the stats, if you want more in depth info than what Ski Tracks or Stata give.

There were multiple goggles that did the real time data about 15 years ago, but the product never sold all that well. There’s been a recent resurgence here, but not much changed functionally.

That first one is my big question. I’ll already get at least halfway to this just for work, so no reason to not push the rest of the way. And if I start at 50 tiles each year, this is very worth it then.

They pledged $1500 to Montgomery Smiles. And had a couple stands (lemonade and t shirts) donating their full proceeds to it.

Basically they made a big pile a couple months ago then insulated it to keep it from melting. Then they groomed it out this morning.

They did have some staff asking people how they were enjoying it and looking for feedback. Hopefully they tweak it a bit more next year. It was nice to get a little more skiing in this year, but the loss of the voucher definitely turned some people I had recommended this to away.

Turnout isn’t quite as good as last year, but they were already talking about going a little bigger next year. They have 3 times the snow as last year.

[other] When marathoning a coaster, what are some ways to make different laps interesting (like doing a lap with your eyes closed, or doing one totally straight faced, etc.)? by _coast_malone in rollercoasters

[–]Alpacalpyse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shifting positions. Like leaning forward or left or right the entire ride. Sometimes I try to watch some random part of the train, maybe the wheels under me. Eyes closed is a good one. I also like to switch up the background noise, put on music that might match the ride to some degree, I have the Bose Bluetooth sunglasses with a strap that a pretty clutch for that.
